Saw this today with my husband. We were both shaken after it ended - so much so it was hard to leave the theatre. Lady Gaga was unbelievably good. When she and "Jackson" sang the duet on the stage for the first time, the feeling was so powerful. Loved Barbara Streisand but Gaga took Ally to a whole new level. Stunned by Bradley Cooper's singing voice and eye for building love to such a crescendo in this movie. Almost like I was holding my breath because the energy between the characters was so intense. A dark love story filled with cracks of light. Haven't seen a movie like this in a long time. Shaken to the core. Bravo to everyone - Sam Elliot was amazing as well. The chemistry with everyone including Dave Chappelle was magic.
I'm still thinking about this movie after seeing it 2 days ago. Still "in it". Cooper's fantastic all around...directing, performance... and Gaga is luminous and wonderful! The soundtrack is as good as the film.
I'm literally going through the exact same thing. When the movie ended in the theatre I kinda just sat there. It's bittersweet, tragic and stays with you for a few days.
Saw this. It’s one of my favorite films of all time. Lady Gaga... was... phenomenal. Such a natural. It didn’t feel like acting, it felt like a reality TV show. She was so real.
This is a great movie!! My wife and I went to see this movie on our anniversary. Bradley Cooper has always been very talented and one of my favorite actors but Lady Gaga, wow! She did incredible job and shows how multi talented she really is. I got sucked in to the movie so quickly. Great movie!! I can’t wait to buy it on Blu-ray!
I havne't sobbed in a movie in a long time and this movie cracked that streak. I left the theater still crying.. but I loved that this movie did that for me. I felt like I had such a strong connection to Ally and Jack because of how well done their love story arc was. My favorite film of 2018 so far. Surpassed all my expectations and I had HIGH ones! Go Gaga and Cooper!
I can see this movie going to be a household in many many years to come. It’s been a while when a movie moved so many hearts and moved people and woke up Love , The Love in people to this extend. The whole country is talking about it. I haven’t heard or read one negative criticism about it. I’m sure not everyone will be crazy about it and there will be harsh criticism. I just pray and hope it will get the recognition it’s deserves and earned. The work and the effort what people had to put into this movie and try something completely new and on a very unfamiliar ground for the majority of the actors and actresses from the director to everyone had to have its difficult side. And that work and effort earned a great recognition in a movie industry and in the entertainment industry. One movie can’t win every single thing we wish for I just hope the Academy will not make that common mistake they usually do by underrating a masterpiece. I wish many many years of success in everyone life and career who been a part of this movie. Thank you for the joy the gift and the message this movie gave me. I kind of missed feeling this way about a story.
Remember, this guy went to NYU film school as an undergraduate. That means already decided my life! I'm 38 and in my first semester of Dental Hygiene school, at a 4 year university, not a tv commercial college, because I was able to make a mature choice. I had no idea what to major in life at 18. Also remember, George Michael, wrote "Careless Whisper" at 16 years old on a double-decker London bus. Some us a born with talent, and some of us have to work for it.
No, boy. Everybody has to work for it. Gaga is the most taletend artist of this century because she works hard every day and is a visionary. It's not because someone shows some "success" early in life and you don't that you weren't born with some talent. Everyone has his own time to shine. We can learn literally everything in life as long as we practice. Don't compare yourself to others.
I can comment on something I just saw in this clip. I watched a talk show host say to Cooper, "You let the film breathe". I didn't know what the heck she meant... until I saw this clip. When L. Gaga starts singing (sitting down) it was so unhurried, and so quiet around them, and his reaction was so understated that, yeah, you had time to think about it, to remember those times when the world kinda stopped... to revel in the importance of the moment, even if it wasn't earth shattering. It seems real, the way life happens.
It’s so crazy thinking where they’ve both been in the beginning ....Bradley... hang over movies...rom comsss - Gaga- starting off with poppy hits and coming into her own. Rlly happy for them both for growing so much😩😩😩😭🙏🏽🙌🏽
Hi, My name is d1p70, and I'm a 30 year old man. It's close to a week now since I saw the movie. I still become emotional putty every time I think about it. THAT's how good this movie is. GO watch it. NOW.
Am I the only one that thought this was a documentary on how Lady Gaga became famous? Lmao probably so. I was SHOOK when I learned this was a remake. Lmao I’m dumb.
No you're not dumb, Little Mama, but I would encourage you to see all of the versions that precedes Gaga's: she is carrying on a great tradition of one of the most well loved show biz centered movies in American film history by some of our biggest legends, and she's going to knock it out of the park as only she can. ❤️
This was the 3rd remake in fact. First movie was in the 30's, then remade in the 50's with Judy Garland . Then made again in the 70's with Barbara Streisand. And now remade again with Lady Gaga.
Actually it's the 4th version. The 1937 version barely gets a mention. The second version, 1954 starring Judy Garland and James Mason was probably the best as far as this movie goes. Barbra Streisand did one in the 70's which this latest is almost the exact version of but so much better than the Streisand one.
Bradley Cooper sure has some connection with a grocery store. He met Scarlett Johansson in a grocery store in 'He's just not that into you' and that ruined both their lives in that movie.
They did a fantastic job. I’ve always wondered why ASIB never shows the part where stars sign contracts that seriously endanger them to alcohol/drug use, because their demanding contract schedules are humanly impossible to keep up with otherwise. Instead they blame the poor artist that succumbs to it.
This is very much a remake of the Streisand version more than the previous ones. I didn't think the 1976 movie worked all that well, but it made a good starting point for this one. The characters here had more roots in family and friends (and dog) and the music scene felt more real. There was more at stake than just two people in love.
When she arrived on the scene I considered Gaga a novelty act that wouldn't last but I am going to give her a chance in this movie that Judy Garland OWNS! Her voice to me is fine but a bit nasally and sharp but I must admit she looks great without all that junky makeup!! I'm old school so will see later!!

The end was devastating and to know it was true is even worse..But it was a great movie..I really Like Gaga better with out all her costumes...sad sad ending
The scene is shot on Beverly blvd. And Garfield in Montebello, ca. I used to shop at that Super A as a kid. I couldn't believe it when I saw it and realized why it looked so familiar.
The movie left me feeling disappointed. I kept waiting for him to redeem himself and overcome his demons. The actors do have chemistry that was undeniable. Overall it's a 7 for me.
Ok, I‘m gonna earn some hate hear, I know. But hear me out: I think it was just fine, good, but not excelent. In my opponion it was visually amazing, but you always knew where it was going, and because of that, it was sometimes hard to keep attention. Don‘t get me wrong, it has great actors, an amazing soundtrack and some great shots, Cooper did a really good Job, I just think it‘s a Little Bit overhyped.
Perfectly valid viewpoint - thanks. Yeah, you know what's going to happen , but that is true of a lot of movies. I call it the "Apollo 13" problem after the Tom Hanks/Kevin Bacon movie. In that case it's history so everyone walks in knowing the ending already. But you have to tell the story in a way that holds their attention and makes them realize that they are seeing this for the first time. Same with "Titanic". But a good screenwriter and director can pull these off. Obviously for a lot of people this movie worked - but not for all. And that's fine. Hopefully it will make creative people work all that much harder to get you next time.
It’s definitely overhyped. Good yes, great no. And people need to stop praising Gaga. She was practically playing a less freaky version of herself. Cooper did the real acting.
I really loved this film, one of my favourites of all time. But I agree that it is a little overhyped. I knew the ending the moment I watched the trailer, but I appreciate it anyway since this is the first film that Bradley directed himself. Lady Gaga was very good (don't get me wrong now, I absolutely loved her), but I had the impression that she put too much of herself in the film (the nose thing, the music industry putting pressures on her). I don't think she deserves an Oscar, but Bradley Cooper and Elliott definitely do.
Leslie Perez i always feel stupid when people say things like ‘I knew the ending from the trailer’ or ‘within the first few moments of the film’. If there weren’t any other versions of the film, i would have been 💯 shocked.
Hmmmm. Maybe your confused with this movie. The star that was born was Barbra Joan Streisand. April 24 1942. New York City. That's the star thats worth going GAGA over. Always will be.

Maybe I'm crazy but I thought this movie sucked. Bradley's speaking voice wasn't believable. It was distracting to say the least. I usually like what he does, but this one missed the mark in my opinion.
I think its more of a preference. People already like both of them so there will be more excitement. I thought it was nice, generic plot but cute. Ran a bit too long and sometimes it felt that there needed to be more dialogue towards the end.
So tired of people believing that they can have an opinion on somebody else's body. It's 2018. If you do not like or approve any sort of surgical or non surgical refinement, just don't do it; it's none of your business if other people want to undergo a procedure. RESPECT.

I agree! 😍
I miss those times when directors commenting their movies was a thing. I really enjoyed watching it.
One of the finest movie I've ever seen. Casts, story, music are absolutely far beyond spectacular.
