Now I know why this track brings me to tears - I had no idea what it was about until now. I too lost my daughter at 32 weeks and had to retrieve her lifeless body from the toilet basin whilst she was still connected to her mother via the umbilical chord. It was the most harrowing day of my life - signing a birth certificate and a death certificate in the same moment was a horrific reality that hope is just that and dreams can be crushed in an instant. One thing is for sure - the beauty of life is that it moves on and we move on with it - holding on to memories and letting go of pain. Enjoy every moment - that is the only thing that is truly real - everything else is simply a 'was' or a 'when'. What amazing piece of music!!!!!!!!

Can't believe i'm saying this but I actually prefer this remix to the original. Great tune and fantastic remix.
Sometimes, the remix gets the interpretation better than the production mix. I absolutely LOVE this version, it speaks to me differently than the original does.

The remix took this track onto a higher plane. You could ask why it was never released as a single, but since 1980, Numan’s inability to spot a top single has become almost legendary. The only thing better than listening to this is to listen to it being played live. Unbelievably powerful.

I'm feeling this bitter about my miscarriage today. Measured 11 weeks and 1 day with no heartbeat at my 12 week scan. I believe in divinity and divine unfolding. I did mantras everyday to protect the baby. I'm so bitter and I have to admit, angry at God atm. How could this be the plan? Fourth miscarriage. I do so much for other people. How is karma real? I want to see the light... so badly
I go around to my female friends house on occasion and drink with her. I ask her to put this track on youtube, of course she complies, (well she used to) untill she had enough of it breaking my heart and me uncontrollably in floods of tears. She has now banned the song and the tears. She means the world to me and I love her so much thatI shall never ask her to play it for me again.

If you have a speaker being driven by a 1 watt amp and the speaker produces 105 dB per watt and another speaker being driven by a 100 watt amplifier and that speaker produces 80dB per watt , which one do you think will sound louder ... ?

This song is amazing and religiously deep, since it sounds like if God were talking to Jesus, but as a futuristic Messiah.
Numan wrote this song because his wife suffered miscarriages, so it's basically about how much of a shitty asshole god is.

this song comes from the heart. the lose of child causes alot of mixed emotions. at this time in his life, God gave and to him took away without an explanation. put yourself in his shoes. it's a song of lost and confusion done beautifully.

This has grown on me down the years, although it always bugged me that the chorus melody sounded very familiar. Tonight I had I, Assassin on the iPod and when Music For Chameleons came on bingo! If I am totally honest the familiarity of the melody was always off putting and stopped me really embracing this song.
Yup. MFC is a favorite track and I hear what you do. However, I am not the least put off. This track is EPIC.

Hopefully, you're embracing it now. I always felt this had a better resolution than "Music for Chameleons", although I really enjoy them both. It's possible, though, that the song that bothers you for being "familiar" isn't a Gary Numan tune at all, but Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game". I always wondered if Chris Isaak heard "Music for Chameleons" and also felt it could use a different resolution to the chord progression.

@@alisonkovacs9871 It's not fair to say that he hates God. He doesn't believe that God exists. He said he thought the Bible sounded like science fiction to him. This song uses that in a very natural and sympathetic way -- anybody who believes in God has, at one time or another, blamed God for a tragedy. People who think that artists just express their own feelings in their art are usually wrong. This is more clever and human than that.
