Kinda like how Al Franken was surprised but not that surprised that Betsy DeVos is an idiot.
But for real though I was a lot more excited about it than my parents actually

He's going to be rich on day.
Zombie Prodigy that would be great
Zombie Prodigy yeah and you know why? Cause of his parents probably strict or some kind of environment that he stay in that got him where he is at today
Nayan Cat you're dumb as hell. If a student doesn't care about their grades, nor have a passion for learning, they won't give a shit about what their parents say, regardless of how much they want their kid to succeed. Real success in life comes from passion and not just the commands of someone higher in power.
Zombie Prodigy he probably won’t :/ the schools are beginning to take less and less Asian American students because they want diversity
yea because a black belt and a grade on an absolutely useless test is all you need to succeed lmao
If you don't have a passion for learning, then don't expect something like this to happen to you. Most of these ridiculously smart kids love academic learning. To be great at something, you must love it.
Ironically enough, I do love learning, but studying so much for the ACT extinguished some of the passion I felt for academic learning. In the end, the subjects not covered by the ACT ended up being my "safe spots" that I retreated to.
Not that I’m comparing myself to this wickedly intelligent kid in anyway, but having a genuine interest and passion for learning is why I’ve excelled academically too.
@@olgavasquez6484 I'm not *that* exceptional! Everyone should be recognized for their passion for learning. Feel free to compare yourself to me :)
Kareem Norain Not even close to as good as this kid, but I don’t really know if you have to have a passion for learning. It all depends on your motivation that you have. I myself hate school, but I treat all standardized tests as competitions. I took the SAT as an 8th grader this year and got an 1140, which translates to around a 23 for the SAT. People always tell me to stop comparing myself to other people but I don’t mind as I catch up to the people that used to be much higher than me. It’s a good motivator.
I do
Back when I had no acne! Oh, good times.

It's been over five years and there are still people coming here and saying racist stuff
Sorry about that man, they're just jealous of your success
They are jealous they cant get a good ACT score. Good job m8
Ugh don’t listen to them. Some people are jealous because seeing you succeed reminds them that at the end of the day, they’re still losing.
Congratulations Alan sorry for the negative comments I heard you are in havard now good job keep pursing your dream

I love how Alan likes to come back to this video years after it was posted just to see how people react lol.
Yup! There are still people on here asking how I am after all these years, which I find really amusing. So, I mean, I might as well answer their questions.
@@alanzhang799 May I ask how did you study for the ACT? I want to prepare for it, but I honestly don't know where to start.
@@XENOX-777 I was already familiar with the material before I started studying for it (I was in advanced math and had a firm grasp of grammar rules/reading comprehension). Because of that, most of my prep was focused on practicing the test itself. How did I do that? Well, I borrowed prep books from the library that contained practice tests.
My first ACT scores were around 30, but I gradually pushed them up to 34-36ish. I just took whole practice tests over and over--not questions on their own, but full tests. I took the *official* ACT three times in middle school: I got a 31 when I took it in 6th grade, a 34 when I took it in 7th grade, and a 36 when I took it in 8th grade (which is the score you see in the video above).
If you don't know where to start, I'd recommend doing some practice tests to see where you stand right now. If you're below 30 in a section, study material for those sections in particular. If you're in the 30s already, then just take tons of practice tests. Best of luck!
@@alanzhang799 Thanks, also I'm most likely nowhere near a 30 just because I know that I am bad at the english and writing sections of the ACT lol, I will start practicing so that I can be better at english and writing, I won't have much of a problem on the math though, it is usually very easy for me to learn so I'm good on that. Anyways, thank you, have a good day.

What an absolute legend
The first time I saw this in 9th grade, I didn't know the background about SAT and ACT tests, but now that I'm older I understand how impressive it is. It's similar to a 1570 or 1580 on the SAT.

Very smart kid man and he's a black belt... crazy
I’m proud of him!!
The ACT is focused on mostly middle school topics. I made a 30 on my Pre ACT in 9th grade and a 25 on it in 11th
I don't think colleges will like him applying with a test date from four years prior. He will probably have to take it again closer towards application time just to have a more recent test date.
Maya Holt definitely.
Heyo. Kid from the video here. I took it again over the summer and got another 36....junior year summer should be recent enough for colleges.
this is years late, but my mom's friend got into UVA when she was 14 because she got 1570 on the SAT. So she was the youngest UVA student at the time, they'll only let you if your score is high enough.

😂 now hes gonna be like "fuck studying" and party it up. then toward the end of high school hes gonna take the ACT again and get a 17
once you learn something you don't just forget it all, have a total personality change and fail all your test..
ElNerd23 If you take it before 9th grade the score can not be used to apply for colleges, it's basically just for practice
Aw, darn it. Who told you my plan?!?!
Amazing
Each year thousands of students ace the ACT / SAT. It would be good to have a mega version for the top 1%. A combined SAT / ACT exam where the average student who scored 100% on the first exam scores about 50% on the harder version. So the highest score in an average year is about 70%, & the average highest score over a decade of testing is about 90%. Something to separate the Einsteins from the Sheldons from the geeks from the lucky acers.
Your conspiring this but can you do it? It’s like dishing something without being able to take it back. I’m terms of taking the difficulty of both test in 1 standard time can you get 100%. Not to mention you miss the whole point in the ACT and SAT it don’t serve to gauge how smart someone is, it’s purpose is to see if your ready for college or your academic growth. The exams are not a competition lol do some research.
And it’s not about separating intellect from Einstein to Sheldons etc. that’s what your EC means. Bud your going in the complete opposite direction. colleges are starting to making standardized test optional and you want to bring another test that’s harder, and most test takers that get 100% don’t want to take another one they did all they needed to do to get a good shot into college. I think you been spending to much time on tiktok watching Sheldon 😂
If you really want for some reason go to china and take the gaokao
35/35/36/36 is not technically a perfect score. It means he missed at least 2 questions overall.
Still a great achievement though.
No it's not. Different sections are graded differently. There's two sections that are worth 35 and two worth 36, Im just not sure which ones. Also, missing one could still get you a 36 for a section, it isn't graded that way. Missing two and getting a 36 is almost impossible though.
all sections are graded out of 36. The kid, overall, got a 35.5. ACT rounds up, though, so his final score was 36 anyway.
Yep, the rounding up saved me. The 36 is only my composite score, I got 35s on the Reading and English sections.
The man the myth the legend... your humble too

WOW, and here I thought I was good with a 23 in 8'th grade.
This is the kind of competition us Asians have to face 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
It is true that a 36 on the ACT is less impressive than a 1600 due to rounding up, but still, this is impressive AF
The SAT can have some rounding up, too. There may be a few questions that the administrators deem too difficult, so they throw those questions out. Therefore, it’s not unheard of for a student to get a question wrong on the SAT and still get a perfect score.
@@deadoralivefan12 agreed, but ACT does round a lot more, like for example, you wouldn’t really get rounded from a 1560 straight to a 1600, but you just need a 35.5 to get a 36

Good for him, but the problem with the SAT and School in general is that knowing a lot of facts and answers to problems isn't how the real world works. Sure this kid LOVES reading and history, but I'd say 85% of kids aren't like that, maybe even higher because people in this day and age are ENCOURAGED to be creative, to have freedom, to do what they want to do. I dropped out of Senior year of Highschool in 2021 because I kept relearning things that were already kinda useless information, and was learning NEW things that were practically 100% useless information. I had 2 jobs already at the time and while I may regret not finishing Highschool, I've become myself again. The self that for years only popped up during Summer, 3 months out of 12 was how I felt my most normal and creative self and now ever since, I'm saving up for Pro Wrestling School. And while most careers require you to have an Education, Pro Wrestling doesn't. It all depends on how your trainer feels about it and if their views are strict and conservative like school. So I'm working towards my true passion in life now.
