      Nayan Cat you're dumb as hell. If a student doesn't care about their grades, nor have a passion for learning, they won't give a shit about what their parents say, regardless of how much they want their kid to succeed. Real success in life comes from passion and not just the commands of someone higher in power.

    If you don't have a passion for learning, then don't expect something like this to happen to you. Most of these ridiculously smart kids love academic learning. To be great at something, you must love it.

      Ironically enough, I do love learning, but studying so much for the ACT extinguished some of the passion I felt for academic learning. In the end, the subjects not covered by the ACT ended up being my "safe spots" that I retreated to.

      Kareem Norain Not even close to as good as this kid, but I don’t really know if you have to have a passion for learning. It all depends on your motivation that you have. I myself hate school, but I treat all standardized tests as competitions. I took the SAT as an 8th grader this year and got an 1140, which translates to around a 23 for the SAT. People always tell me to stop comparing myself to other people but I don’t mind as I catch up to the people that used to be much higher than me. It’s a good motivator.

    • @alanzhang799
      @alanzhang799 3 роки тому +26

      @@XENOX-777 I was already familiar with the material before I started studying for it (I was in advanced math and had a firm grasp of grammar rules/reading comprehension). Because of that, most of my prep was focused on practicing the test itself. How did I do that? Well, I borrowed prep books from the library that contained practice tests.
      My first ACT scores were around 30, but I gradually pushed them up to 34-36ish. I just took whole practice tests over and over--not questions on their own, but full tests. I took the *official* ACT three times in middle school: I got a 31 when I took it in 6th grade, a 34 when I took it in 7th grade, and a 36 when I took it in 8th grade (which is the score you see in the video above).
      If you don't know where to start, I'd recommend doing some practice tests to see where you stand right now. If you're below 30 in a section, study material for those sections in particular. If you're in the 30s already, then just take tons of practice tests. Best of luck!

      @@alanzhang799 Thanks, also I'm most likely nowhere near a 30 just because I know that I am bad at the english and writing sections of the ACT lol, I will start practicing so that I can be better at english and writing, I won't have much of a problem on the math though, it is usually very easy for me to learn so I'm good on that. Each year thousands of students ace the ACT / SAT. It would be good to have a mega version for the top 1%. A combined SAT / ACT exam where the average student who scored 100% on the first exam scores about 50% on the harder version. So the highest score in an average year is about 70%, & the average highest score over a decade of testing is about 90%. Something to separate the Einsteins from the Sheldons from the geeks from the lucky acers.

      Your conspiring this but can you do it? It’s like dishing something without being able to take it back. I’m terms of taking the difficulty of both test in 1 standard time can you get 100%. Not to mention you miss the whole point in the ACT and SAT it don’t serve to gauge how smart someone is, it’s purpose is to see if your ready for college or your academic growth. The exams are not a competition lol do some research.
      And it’s not about separating intellect from Einstein to Sheldons etc. that’s what your EC means. Bud your going in the complete opposite direction. colleges are starting to making standardized test optional and you want to bring another test that’s harder, and most test takers that get 100% don’t want to take another one they did all they needed to do to get a good shot into college. I think you been spending to much time on tiktok watching Sheldon 😂

      No it's not. Different sections are graded differently. There's two sections that are worth 35 and two worth 36, Im just not sure which ones. Also, missing one could still get you a 36 for a section, it isn't graded that way. Missing two and getting a 36 is almost impossible though.

    • @deadoralivefan12
      @deadoralivefan12 Рік тому

      The SAT can have some rounding up, too. There may be a few questions that the administrators deem too difficult, so they throw those questions out. Therefore, it’s not unheard of for a student to get a question wrong on the SAT and still get a perfect score.

    • @aro4457

      @@deadoralivefan12 agreed, but ACT does round a lot more, like for example, you wouldn’t really get rounded from a 1560 straight to a 1600, but you just need a 35.5 to get a 36

    It is no surprise to me. I studied in Taiwan and was a Fulbright Scholar in China and Japan. Asian kids are not genetically smarter but have a work ethic and study 5 times as hard as American students. They also usually have a two parent family and an extended family nearby to raise them with high standards for behavior and high goals. I have taught in the US and Asia and stand witness to this.

That could have also been why that other user got a 19. Not everyone comes into the test knowing what's going to be on it and how to go about doing it. Also, the crazy anxiety doesn't help, either.

    Good for him, but the problem with the SAT and School in general is that knowing a lot of facts and answers to problems isn't how the real world works. Sure this kid LOVES reading and history, but I'd say 85% of kids aren't like that, maybe even higher because people in this day and age are ENCOURAGED to be creative, to have freedom, to do what they want to do. I dropped out of Senior year of Highschool in 2021 because I kept relearning things that were already kinda useless information, and was learning NEW things that were practically 100% useless information. I had 2 jobs already at the time and while I may regret not finishing Highschool, I've become myself again. The self that for years only popped up during Summer, 3 months out of 12 was how I felt my most normal and creative self and now ever since, I'm saving up for Pro Wrestling School. And while most careers require you to have an Education, Pro Wrestling doesn't. It all depends on how your trainer feels about it and if their views are strict and conservative like school. So I'm working towards my true passion in life now.
