How do you acheive something like this and still get knocked 4 it. 1 of the top rules in life "Never question another mans blessing". Jealousy gets u no where.
This isn't jealousy. The fact is that he had an unfair advantage owing to his race. The fact is that an asian has an unfair disadvantage owing to his/her race. Just because alot of asians are successful people, it doesn't mean they don't struggle.
@Anita Blackwell Never once did I say that he only got in because of his race. What I said, if you can read, is "The fact is that he had an unfair advantage owing to his race. The fact is that an asian has an unfair disadvantage owing to his/her race."
@Anita Blackwell I think i agree with you. Jealousy is a universal quality. Asians are given a disadvantage. Affirmative action is meant to help people that normally wouldn't have opportunities. The process assumes that all Asians are wealthy, and all black, latino, and native people aren't wealthy. Obviously, this isn't true at all. In fact, Asians have the largest wealth disparity - more than any other race!!! However, despite this, affirmative action gives priority to others, just because of the color of their skin. Indians, Chinese, etc, are all discriminated against in the college process owing to this.
Then here’s me not participating in any school activities, 2.9 GPA, and spending lots of time with my friends modifying our cars and going to car meets.

@@br3nt368 your right obviously thats an advantage but that doesnt take away his accomplishments. He has a crap ton of outside school stuff and pretty good grades
Congrats to this young man, his parents and community. Your hard work paid off. All the naysayers are just jealous because it does nothing but burst their stereotypical bubble. Given the same playing field and being in the right environment enables anyone to compete. And that’s hard for some people to accept. Remember, Jesse Owens proved that to the Germans who thought he was to inferior to beat them on the track field!

I want to feel happy for him, but can’t stop thinking about my cousin. He made the USAMO in eighth grade, got a 140/150 on the AMC 12 in tenth grade, and a 13/15 on the AIME that same year. He was nationally ranked for tennis (around the top 150) and won a citywide piano competition. How many ivy league schools did he get accepted to? None.
My cousin a black kid got 2450 in sat still got accepted to none its more than grades actually
@@Entergalactic 2450 isn’t a score and 1450 is good but not great. but yes it goes go beyond grades
So he went to MIT?
@@Entergalactic It takes more than stats to get into an ivy league college. You either have to have an interesting essay or story or have many extracurriculars or be a legacy student.
He chose Yale and is about to graduate from Medical School at Washington University in St. Louis. He has an MBA from the same school.
I knew he was gonna be amazing at the start, but then I figured out he plays viola. I'm shook, but proud.
This just happened last year to a kid who graduated from my high school last year. He is at Harvard studying pre-med
“He was just an average child” 👁👄👁
I don't want my parents to hear this because all we ever get from them when we do bad things are comparison from those who are more successful than us. Those words stay in you forever.
He such an amazing person. I wish him the best in the future.😄
Omg I am astounded, completely. I’m only a freshman but ever since 5th grade Ive set my sights on either cardiology or neurology, so when she said that I was flabbergasted. My parents and I were also immigrants so they taught me to make the most of this country’s opportunity and honestly seeing him rise above all these obstacles has certainly inspired me. Great job young man and I hope you do wonderful things in the future💙
Interesting enough, it seems I've been taking the same path of this dude in high school. This video gave me a confidence boost lol.
Work on your english
@@magicagrnub620 bro
MagicAgr Nub there’s nothing wrong with their English you should work on yours
Good luck
I'm not surprised with his dad's reaction
Guys please don’t worry if you don’t make it into these schools! You’re intelligence has nothing to do with it and you are all special for our own reasons and passions. The way that lady asked “how can we all get a kid like you” disgusted me. Maybe it’s just me but everyone is special!
A college doesn't define you, what you do matters the most 🙏
Do not compare African Americans from Africans who immigrated to this country. According to the US Census, African immigrants are highly educated and are high income family. He definitely comes from a good background.
You nailed it 1000%! And he wasn't raised to hate others.
When you play viola too
IM HITTIN THE JACKPOT BOIS
How do you acheive something like this and still get knocked 4 it. 1 of the top rules in life "Never question another mans blessing". Jealousy gets u no where.
This isn't jealousy.
The fact is that he had an unfair advantage owing to his race.
The fact is that an asian has an unfair disadvantage owing to his/her race.
Just because alot of asians are successful people, it doesn't mean they don't struggle.
@Anita Blackwell Never once did I say that he only got in because of his race.
What I said, if you can read, is
"The fact is that he had an unfair advantage owing to his race.
The fact is that an asian has an unfair disadvantage owing to his/her race."
@Anita Blackwell Thank you for being understanding of other people's perspective.
Are you asking why Asians have a disadvantage?
@Anita Blackwell No problem!
Then here’s me not participating in any school activities, 2.9 GPA, and spending lots of time with my friends modifying our cars and going to car meets.
Competition is main key point when applying to schools. Competition in New York is very high, since there’s thousands of kids in each school.
"Over here, there's no way you can tell me you cannot do well" well said 2:05
Very inspirational story. My son is on the same track as this young man. 4.8 GPA, almost perfect SATs, stellar ECs, band, community volunteer with a major spike etc. Hopefully my son can also follow in the footsteps of Fernando Rojas.
Hi please how do I encourage my son to read like yours
His admission essay summarized in a few words: i had a hard life in africa, me and my family immigrated to america to escape the civil war, violence, lack of food. We had no home, we were homeless and i've been through so much
you are throwing away his accomplishments with racism
@@TheEndernal i mean of course he has better chances because colleges love these kinds of against all odds students stories. Am i not right?
@@br3nt368 sorry I think I misinterpreted your tone. If I did, then again sorry
@@br3nt368 your right obviously thats an advantage but that doesnt take away his accomplishments. He has a crap ton of outside school stuff and pretty good grades
Props to this guy! I hope he does well in life and succeeds!
WAIT I WAS WATCHING THE ONION AND THEN CLICKED ON THIS
THIS IS AN ACTUAL ARTICLE?
He graduated this year!
When you put effort in you’ll do great things. I recently got Excepted to Connecticut School of Broadcasting and I’m excited to be in it.
I believe not everyone with same qualification can get accepted in to all
Wow just wow😳 this is so inspirational❤️
I'm Asian...I'm screwed...jk I'm an Asian American Hispanic Jew adopted daughter of an immigrant. I'll be okay.
I'm a spanish italian american buddhist who grew up with a single mom in mexico
And i'm decent
I'm white
Honestly if parents of a kid push them to try and do what this kid has done it wouldn't work, a kid can only do something like this if they themself want to.
"Duke is his safety school"
Alright boys time to go dig a hole-
An amazing achievement! My sincerest congratulations to him! In northern Ohio, in 1966, my high school would only process three college applications for me. Univ of Michigan was my safety, Dartmouth my second choice, and Yale my first. I got into all three! Went to Yale. I hope he goes there too - it's the best choice. 🙂
B'hind every great child is phenomenal parents...
Congratulations baby
*"All achievements completed."*
Him: is top 2%, gets almost a perfect score on the SAT, is an athlete musician actor, volunteers at places galore, and is not happy with anything below a 95
Me: watches UA-cam instead of studying for finals
Congrats for him; it must feel legendary for him to get accepted into every Ivy league! 💪🔥
I do not recommend putting a policy on your children’s grades. It can lead to awful places with their mental health
So humble!
A Ghanaian? Why am I not surprised?
PROUD OF NEW YORKERS LES GOOOO the fact he was in the minority and got into all 8 schools. amazing.
GOSHHHHH all i want is to get accepted into 1! just one :(
A smart and proud African American man 🙏🏻✊🏻☝🏼
Gotta make sure my parents never find this video, anyways good job man!!
Great Positive Story of Young Black Achievement. Mainstream Media Needs More Stories like This to Garner National and Regional Attention.
This same thing happened to a Nigrian girl
i got into Cornell today and got into Penn State 2 weeks ago. where should i go.
Depends on what you want to do. I graduated from Duke last month. Dude go to a place where you’ll be happy and be able to excel/ have stuff to show for it (i.e., stellar GPA, campus involvement, passion projects to put on resumes etc.)
Penn State is a phenomenal school and so is Cornell I’m sure (although I heard it’s depressing?).
Best of luck to you!!!
i actually got accepted into harvard and i’m planning on that
Norsk Snøfugl Oh my gosh congrats that’s awesome!!! You really should be proud of yourself. Would definitely recommend watching this though (not to scare you but something to think about) ua-cam.com/video/kJGupYFaCGs/v-deo.html
lmfao i'm late but do you mean UPenn? Because Cornell is an Ivy and Penn State is a state school. However, if there was a program you rlly like at Penn State I guess it would be difficult to choose??
@@sealybla If you saw my reply. I’m currently studying Neurobiology at Harvard.
Hey my brother goes to Yale. Hope he chose it
Imagine being the younger sibling
Sad that everyone here is putting down his hard work that went into getting into all 8 Ivy Schools.
Everyone IS NOT DOING THAT! Stop lying please.
I pray that he makes through with his faith intact.
Anything below 95% isn’t acceptable..? I wonder how many kids have committed suicide from that pressure..
His dad would not say that, if his son could not achieve it.
Put a tear in my eye.. my dad, if he saw this he would come to me and would baseball bat my head for being dumb all my life...and I'm 42 now
Wow. Duke was literally he's safety😯
Yes, what does that mean?
Not true. Caltech, MIT, Stanford are missing.
Those aren't Ivy schools
Putting this in my recommended the day after ivy day. Very funny UA-cam. Very funny.
Looked him after this video and boy is med school now.. wow
Ghanaian excellence 👏🏿👏🏿🇬🇭🇬🇭
The Brainiacs are always involved in extra curricular....this guy's speech is sooooo mellifluous...
I see what happened here, dad set the bar extremely high off the rip, instilled the African immigrant work ethic into him, and the rest took care of itself! 95% or above! Lol way to go dad!
Congratulations Kwasi
seriously jealous?
he earned it
Why does it happen to be that all the ivy league colleges are north east? Are they actually the best or do they just seem to be the best, or is it just a consortium of schools?
