I'm really excited about the bike and although I'm still driving a BMX mongoose from Walmart back in 98 and I enjoy it, it would be so much fun to have a go-kart BMX! So My style! Beautiful bike. I love the design and how it's customizable and pretty standard beautiful.
Thanks brother! You should check out the production models we've been making since launching this video almost two years ago. Reinforced seatstays. Sun-Ringle rims. Kenda tires. Cushier seat. And now we make a "Shadow Chimera" version in 4130 steel.
We may eventually make a dirtjumper. At the moment our focus is on this 24" bmx though. The motor and battery can be sold separately, but they only fit our custom frames.
Question, if I were to purchase this (I live in CT), where could I get it serviced? This is pretty much a one of a kind type bike-at the moment. Not saying it isn't worth the premium price, but a high end machine that cannot be serviced will be a low end machine very fast.
@@ralph833 Great question. This bike is very easy to service. It's actually part of the High-Drive patent. Because the system works with off-the-shelf bicycle hubs, rims, brakes, chains, cranks, bearings, etc, any bike shop should be able to service the usual wear items. As for the High-Drive system itself, it's modular. So if there's a motor issue, or a transmission issue, or a belt issue, swapping it out is simple. Although no one's reported any issues yet, we've been uploading explainer videos to our website to show how to swap out pulleys, belt, etc. Usually just requires a single wrench.
This is the only ebmx you can realy do tricks with. Its expensive but this is realy impresive work!!! Visible mechanical design. Different from other ebikes where every thing is closed up.

It's actually a bmx seat made for racing. Our Standard Edition we have on sale now comes with a cushier freestyle bmx seat. You're not into the titanium bars!?!?
I got one of these in my cart and I’m itching to pre order. What kind of range can you get with this thing. Quick swap battery would be sick. Ideally I can get 20 - 30 miles with lazy pedaling. Also another question. If you push the thing full power all the time will it burn out the motor? Do I have to baby it? Assuming if it burns out I can send it back for a repair or swap yeah? Any kind of warranty on this thing?
The range depends on your power settings and how you pedal. If you pedal some, and are set to 1000 watts, you can probably get up to 20 miles. If you throttle nonstop at 3800 watts, you get about 8 miles. The best way to conserve battery is to pedal to help the motor when taking off from a dead stop, and when climbing long hills. As for the quick-swap battery, it's a pretty quick operation.
A bike like this would be a total life changing event for me. Without writing a short novel here on UA-cam long story short I unfortunately have to walk everywhere and live in a rural area far from any city's. I'm a recovering addict and alcoholic and because of decisions I made long ago I lost my license and now can't ever seem to save the funds to afford to pay it off, total snowball affect. Can't get good job without license and need good paying job to be able to afford to save for it. I walk down a busy 2 lane road 18 miles to get into town and then same on way home and have always had passion for BMX and used to ride alot. If I could go back ans change things in my life I would in a instant but can't so still paying for my mistakes I guess. Hopeful to someday get a good Ebike like this as my ol feet getting tired at almost 44.
Cool as always. Forgot to ask before on another post, how do you deal with the California speed limit law on ebikes that can go this fast? I forgot what the allowed top speed was here. Thanks..
I wish we could brother. The cost via DHL is astronomically high. And then there's always the chance customs won't allow it in due to it being far more powerful than European laws allow. 😢
Will you guys make a 24 or 27.5 inch cruiser model in the future? A carbon fiber chain cover would be nice. I feel like me shoe laces might get caught in the moving parts.
I would like to see how well it works in the dirt. Mountain trails, deserts, jumps, berm shots in loose dirt that gets everywhere. I ride in the dirt. Almost never on pavement and certainly never in a skate park.
Thanks! Unfortunately, $1k doesn't even cover the cost of the titanium frameset, let alone the 5000 watt inrunner motor and other custom parts. You can check all the prices and specs here: www.indiegogo.com/projects/chimera-electric-bmx-bicycle-ebike/

THERE'S NO MORE THING TO SAY! Since you start this project, the prototype was even completely perfect product. I hope someday this genre of culture becoming bigger, and people riding at the exclusive skatepark for electric bmx. Let's make a new generation. What do you think about "Gear ratio' when a BMX converted to electric? I want to know exact feeling with this bike, pedaling at about 18mph. How much maximum speed is being available for pedaling? (Because, I really like to pedal in a stand-up position while riding fast.)
Thank you! This 24" has a 2.55 gear ratio, which is roughly equivalent to a 2.75 gear ratio on a 20". So it feels like a standard bmx when pedaling below 20mph. If you throttle beyond that speed, pedaling becomes purposeless. At that point, you're effectively riding a motorcycle.
If you guys been thinking about charging the battery by solar because that would really be the hot ticket to be able to charge the battery with the sun and not have to rely on the grid at all that's the hottest ticket of them all so I'm sure you've already thought of that

Why not aluminium? Its half the weight of titanium. Or carbon fiber, half the weight of aluminium. Would like to see a 24" racing bmx with a motor, just ultrabright and built for speed.
