I’m so so sorry for your loss! Bret, that must have been so difficult to walk in the pen and find the poor little boy. 😢 It’s never easy to accept that an accident has happened, but you both are so strong for each other. I love that!
You know, I bred Arabian horses for years and you are right, accidents just DO happen despite every effort made to prevent them. It goes hand in hand with having animals. Don’t beat yourselves up yeah? You’ve taken the right steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Plus, the decision to keep the little fella has been made for you. He will have a lovely life. And there will be more bucklings. As you know, I’m hanging for a Bowling Ball keeper, so let’s focus on that! Also feeling quite privileged to be part of ‘the flock’
Oh, poor baby!😢 I agree with you that it was just accident. If Bear really wanted to hurt the baby, there would have been much more than just a puncture wound, he's so much bigger and stronger.
@@spikedcider3983 honestly I tried to rack my brain with all kinds of scenarios that could have happened (like could he have been hit into a nail by a big goat, etc.) but Bear was seen toting a baby in his mouth by Brett. He told him to drop it and he did, and she was completely unharmed. No matter what, I think a freak accident happened and we’re going to be even more diligent with how the big dogs interact with the tiny babies- they are just SO fragile!
Farm life has so many ups and downs. So glad you had some good to help with the bad this time. Here’s to hoping all other babies remain safe and healthy. Bear just doesn’t realize how much bigger he is than the little goats. Our LGD likes to play with the goats, so I can see how this could happen. Good luck and keep up the great work!
I follow a small scale farmer here in the U.K. he has a couple of goats, one if their kids fell into the water bowl and drowned. Unfortunately sad unfortunate things happen. It’s not your fault ❤
@@zoebowler5664 😞 I fear that so much! I try to just give shallow bowls of water in kidding stalls, but even then I’m sure it could happen if the perfect storm occurred. & Thank you for the encouragement! ♥️

I’m so proud of everything you all are doing.. and I’m sorry about the babies. That’s just farm life though. Love you!!
😢 So sorry for the loss. Very sweet to offer them little Beau button-nose but he's going to be missed.

Could this have been an attack from an owl or hawk and Bear stopped the attack? I’m sorry! Sometimes farm life tests the heart for sure!
