Me and my father watched every dirty jobs ever! I even got into his program to becoming a diesel mechanic from tech school! Love this man. Great childhood, great man. Glad to see these new series on UA-cam! Got my dad back into watching these and he loves it!
I’m totally on board for this one. I am known as “the goat lady” in my little village in New Zealand. I only have 4 goats at any one time but they are amazing. All of my goats are rescues. We have just an acre of land and had 2 paddocks built where we could move them back & forth and they roam free on the weekends. We haven’t mowed any grass in 17 years. We have had male goats but they were already “fixed” before they came to us except for one, but that’s an entire story on its own. We’ve always been blessed to have at least one goat that has false pregnancies so we had milk and I make cheese. Baby goats are the best. It’s a shame that you didn’t get any footage of them bouncing about and just being kids. It’s such a joy to watch. Edit: would love to know what you do with the poo. We gather it up and compost it. I grew a 77 kilogram pumpkin one year in the compost pile. All the village kids in the village came round on the day we were going to harvest the pumpkin and took pictures sitting on it. Then everyone watched as hubby took a chain saw to it. The pumpkin was shared out to whoever wanted it to feed their livestock. It was an epic day. (Our village boasts a population of 101).
Mike, these are awesome! I'm so happy you've continued with these. Thank you for helping inspire and show to a whole new generation that even though jobs may be dirty, and not so glamorous, that they are still something to truly respect and take pride in!
Not so glamorous? Hey! Goats are the epitome of class and glamour! I love my humble few caprine companions, and can think if no finer company than that if goats
Anyone else start thinking when she said "I moved to Humoldt County"? Then Mike asks "How are you paying the bills at this point?" Then she says "she was a serious hippie" lol if you live in Humboldt county and you're a hippie, I guarantee she's growing alot more then veggies and selling fire wood lol. I love it what a beautiful soul she is.
I’m literally living her youth right now. I raise dairy goats for the nutritional value my kids receive. The benefits far exceed cows milk. I make cheese, ice cream, butter and anything else you can think of. I absolutely love sharing our milk and sharing this passion for goats I have. I’m also raising meat goats. It’s my dream to have a dairy farm one day! Fresh goats milk is absolutely delicious! This episode was all around awesome Mike!
Mike Rowe should run for president!!! An impeccable person that truly believes in our country and how it operates and what's important for it to do that.
That was the sweetest show ever. Mary gets that she's not a Hippy Mom, but still hold caring for others, in her heart. I just hope someone as caring will take over one day. Gott mitt allies Du!
At the 15:30min mark I cried just before Mike asked Mary if she was going to cry. I don’t know why. When she said they all get together once a month I pictured myself being there trying to help out and how happy it would make me being together with them and all the loving goats and kids😢❤️🙏 What a wonderful life that would be🙏

My mom used to take my daughter to Zacatecas Mexico every year before she was five . One year she came home with a tiny cheese she had made for me. It has her little dirty fingers painted all over it. It's the most adorable thing ever. I ate it dirt and all.
I seriously think the education system should show mikes videos, you actually learn so much and for anyone trying to consider a profession its a nice inview. Goats are awesome and its crazy that the western world is really only just making it a thing
Okay, she is a super cool human bean! I don't think she just got lucky, I think the good in her found the good in the people she has brought around and that's what made it happen for her. And like she pointed out, the cheese is just the extraneous product of the good human vibes! Thanks for introducing us to her! And now I must go find that cheese!
Just to clarify, goats only have bottom teeth in the front but both bottom and top in the back. Also, fun fact their pupils are a rectangle shape giving them an incredible rage of vision.
Mike Rowe was born for this... WE NEED to see videos about small businesses, like this, for inspiration! The fact this channel only has 266k is sad knowing there are terrible content creators with 10s of millions of followers, if not PewtyPie numbers. I bought an F-150 because of Mike's thorough video covering the performance of the EcoBoost engine. I just saw one break a million miles on TikTok so "Micro" wasn't lying. He comes from a long line of men that believe, "Your word is your bond." I've learned that if you follow people like Mike, you tend to end up at the same destination.
I love anything Mike does watched him from the beginning of dirty jobs. I'm 52 and when I was like 12 we owned 20 goats, we milked them all by hand, never by machine, goat milk tastes so good. Very thick compared to cow milk. Way more healthy.
I like this lady. She has purpose, and vision, and a sense of humour. She works hard and she is sensitive and fun. I wish they had asked her more about the school lunch program, and other ways she is helping the community as that seemed very important to her.
This lady is so kind and caring and the fact she seems like a tree hugger makes me like her even more lol. If only more humans were this way, idk what exactly she believes in but I'll just say from what you've shown on here and spoken about, she's living like God would want her to. Oh and that tree.. WOW it is beautiful!

When I was in my early teens, living in Clayton, WA, we had a few goats. They're friendly animals, though some can be grumpy. I did most of the milking, and one goat loved to wait until I was stripping the udder and then stick a foot in the bucket. I almost never could prevent it. My mom made goat butter. It was snow white, and was the best butter I've ever had. We sold our extra milk, and they bought it - I can't remember whether it was a local dairy or a company or what; it's been over 40 years - not by the gallon but by the pound. One gallon of goat milk was eight pounds. Ever since then I've used that as a rule of thumb for calculating the weight of a given volume of a liquid. 🙂🐐
What a lovely woman. Mike was the perfect person to interview her. You can see he was genuinely interested in her business and the reasons why she chose the path she did.

This is a very good showing of the cheese making and how it came to the business that it is now. Mary is a special person who loves everything about her goat dairy and creamery business.
I see why this lovely lady adores that big leaf maple. It's inspiring, as is her story. I'm going to have to try Humbolt Fog. Mary is a great example of doing what she loves and helping others while doing it.
