I had horrendous depression for 10 years. Zoloft did not work. I traced it to foods I was eating (milk, eggs, sunflower seeds, turkey), which gave me severe depression for three days. Sunflower seeds gave me depression and severe, diffuse back pains. One day I had a nasty sinus infection that felt like heart failure. I couldn't catch my breath and felt tightness in my chest. But I was aware that my sinuses felt slightly sore. It took three different powerful antibiotics to get rid of the infection. Then I dared eat foods that gave me depression. It was gone! Three years later and I haven't had any depression. Unfortunately, the experience was traumatizing and I have some PTSD. Just the thought of that severe depression terrifies me. I don't talk about it to anyone directly.
So important considering that your gut microbiome impacts everything from your immune system to your skin to your brain function to your digestion, and even your mood and mental health!! 👊✨
The imagery on this video are fantastic! Fascinating video, and it really does show how the brain and gut are interconnected. When people have depression and/or anxiety, they really should look at their gut health. Thanks for sharing!
Wow Dr Sinclair, I wish I knew this, with all the Doctors, nutritionist, dietician's and naturopaths, no one told me this. I wish I knew this 14 years ago till present.. It's amazing, how the food we eat, really impacts our health. Now that I know, changes will be made and everyone else around me, will be informed and educated.
PrasanPadale Eat an anti-inflammatory diet. Avoid food sensitivities (can get your gut checked), get lots of vegetable fiber, and eat more fermented foods for probiotics. Also, eat slowly and chew your food until it’s a paste, kind of like baby food. Warm liquids such as lemon ginger water or herbal tea help the gut, too.
This video is very short but informative. I have heard of the gut to brain connection in the past but never read up or researched it. However, after watching this video, I am definately going to watch/read more about this subject. Definately recommend this video. Give it a go only 2 minutes of your life.
What to eat to promote a balanced, healthy gut? Intestinal health is directly linked to the well-being of your whole body. The gut requires a balance of bacteria, which live mostly in the large intestine and part of the small intestine. It’s important to pay attention to our gut health as it goes beyond ‘regularity’ and bloating. The digestive system is the “gateway” to other parts of the body, delivering nutrients to it. A healthy gut contains a dominance of “good” bacteria which produces butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid. These bacteria are dependent on fiber, which act as their fuel. The gut signals to the brain through nerves and hormones, which supports overall emotional and mental health. The millions of neurons in the gut is why it’s often referred to as “the second brain.” What are gut microbiota? Each person has over trillions of microbial cells in the #colon. This makes up an individual’s microbiota. These healthy microbiomes are the key to good health, and, through lifestyle and diet choices, you can promote a good balance. There are factors that throw the microbiota out of balance, such as medications and environmental stressors. For a healthy gut, it’s essential to exercise regularly, reduce stress levels, ensure adequate sleep, and eat foods that are high in fiber. The gut requires us to eat more fibers and less processed and ultra-processed foods that are typically energy-dense, high in salt, sugar, Omega-6 and saturated fatty acids with low nutritional value. Aim to consume a rich variety of fruits and vegetables, beans and whole grains, all of which are high in their own different types of fibers. A key goal to a healthy gut is diversity; eat a variety of different plants and types of fibers. Choose foods that haven’t undergone a great deal of processing so as not to starve the “good” bacteria. However, this fiber intake isn’t always easy to obtain, and the average person does not meet the recommended fiber intake, which is why food supplements are of great importance. This makes a lot of sense that the gut and brain are connected. I mean your gut needs to tell your brain if you're full, sick, eating, hungry, etc. It makes sense that sometimes this connection can go haywire sometimes, since it's constantly communicating with the brain.
A 1/2 tsp of natural salt will can ease that heavy upper gut feeling that is connected with depression. Mix it in water and chug. The world has trained everyone to be afraid of salt but good natural salt 🧂 has health benefits it you don't overdo it. Anyway, it has helped my gut depression a lot. Also apple sauce with a splash of apple cider vinegar 🍎 🍏.
The cause of gut problem is stones in the liver and gallbladder, so look into andreas Moritz liver flush. ....stones in the liver is what really cause anxiety
Yes, wow this has blown my mind. I am a chronic migraine sufferer. I am told to eat carbs, to help the migraine attack, what I was doing was irritating my gut with all the gluten, my body could not digest and it caused more inflammation. I just learnt from this descriptive presentation about the "vagus nerve", I had no idea, there was a gut and brain connection. This explains the mood swings, depression and anxiety. They do say, healthy gut equates to healthy brain and healthy body. I wish I knew this 14 years ago to present.
Eat fermented food for good bacteria...good bacteria is key for a healthy gut biome. Refrigerated sauerkraut, Kimchi(Korean cabbage), plain non-fat Greek yogurt with live and active cultures...stay away from sugary yogurts...and a teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar a day...also eat lots of dark greens to feed the healthy bacteria..including seaweed..
Woo! It means Brain & Intestine are connected to each other! So is this can be the reason for why I frequently go to latrine during some month before exam

Is that why I feel so happy when I eat delicious food and my stomach is full?
We have a second brain in our gut-the enteric nervous system (ENS) with over 100 million brain cells. 💕 ☮ 🌎 🌌
You following your gut is what led you here
One of those cells is not like the others!
