I never found Palia boring at the start. I absolutely loved it and was obsessed. It's boring now because there's nothing to do for people who have been playing for a long time. I'm already gold capped again, I have no storage left, I don't even need to do rummage piles anymore because I have all the recipes. I could get into building maybe, if you didn't have to do it via weird glitches and tricks you have to trawl the internet to find out how to do. I mean, if building is all we have, they could at least make the building menu more useable. I know we have the road map now and I'm excited for the future, but they already said don't expect too much before the new map in 6 months' time! I do love the game, but I admit I'm struggling to stay interested currently.
You reached the new gold cap? Wow that's awesome. You don't need to glitch in order to decorate, I would really suggest touring some plots on the tour board to see what's possible
I completely agree with you! I've played since launch and had the longest break just to pile up some friend quests to have SOMETHING to do in the game. But now that I don't have a need to grind for anything basically, it's really hard to motivate yourself to run through those tiny two maps. With building I'm on the same boat as well. I'm not interesed in spending time learning glitching and tricks. I wanna use the basic commands to create what I can since my game time in the day is limited anyways. I hope you find something to keep you on board! With me a couple of months break helped out a lot and now things seem a bit more fun again
My plan is to make a down sized cozy log cabin build after I'm done with my main property, but even though it's at 4.5 Million dollars right now, I'm STILL not done with it and I'm not at the 3000 cap yet xD.
I hope they figure a way to use the stables to mail inventory excess to homestead or general store. The time wasted travelling definitely sucks the fun out of gaming for me like in No Man's Sky, WoW, and other MMOs. It'd be nice for them to have easier access to Bahari NPCs and Subaru in Kilima Inn.
Sometimes the things that are exciting about a game are also the things that are overwhelming. I love the customization and decoration options but there’s SO much. Thanks for the video K! Going to focus on crafting furniture next after doing bundles!
I never found Palia boring. I can always find things to do, but I also have played several MMORPGs and Sim games so I'm fine with limited direction in games. I stopped playing because the flow wood grind annoys me and we need a lot of it to progress a specific quest line - the quests are one of my favorite parts of the game so I don't like them being gated behind a rare resource. I may go back eventually, but I only lasted a day the last time I logged in 😂
*** spoiler alert **** As well as groves in bahari, you can also grow your own flow trees on your home plot once completing the temple of roots and roots bundle.
@@LiaBluBootsiii Did not know about growing them on home plot - thanks. That might change things. I know about the groves, although I never saw one before I stopped playing. They still involve having to wait for/find spawns and either waiting for people or hoping they wait until you get there - some do, some don't.
@@N2Yeshua777 I also play WoW. It's a different beast because it was never advertised as a cozy game. I didn't expect to have to chase rare resources in Palia based on the way it was marketed. Gathering resources in general doesn't bother me. It's the gating quests behind a rare one that at least initially expected you to need other players to get it that turned me off. It appears there's a way around this now, so that may resolve this issue for me.
When i first started i saw the game was great but struggled with how to play and how little in game tutorials there were. Watching YT vids like this and other guides and tips really helped me
people getting bored and here i am getting nothing done cuz im like: ok therest he location i have to go next *mark it* start running towards it...oh a flower...a mushroom...copper ore...10minuets later im at the other end of the map wondering how i got there and not to my planned location :p
I think I will pause Palia soon. I have 4 trophies left on Steam and one Majiri I have not maxed out the relationship. When I finish that I will take a break until new content comes out. Currently I'm happy with the decoration of my house. I could do more, but I don't feel the urge. I have 450k money, my chests are full and I have no urge to buy anything. "The Tower" is perhaps a goal I could do and have not yet completed. But I'm not sure if I want to do it. My main goal was quests, for a long time. But now I only have a few quests left with the last Majiri I have not maxed out. Palia was a lot of fun. But I feel like I'll be done with the current state of the game very soon.
i never got bored with palia from the start, i zoned in on it, drilled through all the quests, relationships, bundles and expansion of my plot, the issue now is that i got nothing to do, all quests are to be continue, bundles are completed, all expansions, buildings are done, decor limit is reached, recipes all made, achievements all done... i literally have nothing to do except wait til the next major update for palia...
That's really unfortunate. I'm still at the beginning of my journey, but statements like that make me want to slow down so that I don't get to that point for as long as possible.
I'll be honest, this is exactly how I felt, it was boring until I joined the Palia Community. Because I'm used to playing games with structure and set goals provided. Once I joined the community I started to get a bit competitive bc so many players since closed beta have progressed so far and I'm a builder, and I wanted to grow my plot to compete with players I saw on reddit and that had me playing more, foraging more and completing more tasks to get a bigger home and decorate my plot. Now it's fun.
I feel like anybody that struggles to figure out "what to do" in this game probably never played minecraft. Minecraft isn't boring at all but you get basically 0 instructions on what to do.
There are so many mini games even! You dont even have to restart to build another house or restart to experience all the romance options. There's no way to get bored with this game...
I'm pretty much tapped out on quests unless I start romancing more people to get a little bit more to do. Regular relationships are all maxed outside of Subira. I'm working on a fourth home and am in the furnishing stages. There are some items I still need at least from the medals to work toward. And I am going to lose my mind if I don't get my makeshift indoor garden thing (the dresser with plants) for my main first home. Every house I've toured has one or multiple and I still cannot get it lol I get many dupes of other things I don't need/want lol
Hello. Thanks for this Video! I have a question. I'm really surprised that you have your focus bar at only 450 I have the same and have been playing Palia for 5 days today. Aren't the meals exceeding your limit? I mean the Focus you get from "higher" Meals incraese from Level to Level. I'm a little confused. Are there methodological reasons for this? Are low-level meals more worthwhile? In terms of effort/cost/benefit?
No I’m just bad at remembering to upgrade my focus at the shrines! I spent most of my renown on home upgrades and aesthetics and neglected my focus! I need to fix it! You are on the right track!
I use Palia as a way to satisfy my need for routine. I do certain things at certain times of a game day and am developing a monday through friday schedule. Am i weird? 🤪
Only thing I've found with Palia is because I don't know anyone irl that plays or wants to play I'm wandering around alone. I've asked a few times in chat if anyone wants to party up but the majority already play with friends and I think possibly a language barrier with others ( Palia definitely needs a translation option) so I play alone. Only once did a player last week ask me to party up it was fab but hasn't happened since 🥹 An as much as I love the game and play most days, I kinda wish it was a little more challenging than grinding daily to make things and collect rare items hopefully future updates will bring that lil something it's missing 🤞
@sparklycrackle3616 hi. I know that feeling. What's your nickname in the game? I will add you to my friend list, and we can do some weekly challenges 😉 or find me, Bella Lester.
This is my issue as well, both because people don’t team up, but also because I prefer playing alone as cozy games are my time to decompress and not have to deal with people, no matter how nice a community it might be. I started playing recently and when I saw today that the flower furniture seems to be locked behind doing things in a party I was devastated.
do you see the little chair icon she pressed at the top when you go to your workbench?? those are for furnitures and the different ones are for different things, like arrows, crafters, ect :)) they'll be labeled in alphabetical order no matter which section you go to
Yes! Like Avery said, at the top you can choose the different icons to filter through the type of objects and furniture you can craft. So hitting the chair is for furniture and the set names are in alphabetical order! 🩵 Thank you AveryCrossing!
Hot take, but Palia is a part of a larger issue with cozy games being, too cozy. There is no consequence or challenges, instead relying entirely on intrinstic goals. Grinding out rare items for bundles or grinding out plushies isn't really a fun or engaging challenge IMO (If anything for most people it can be infuriating). Cozy games are fun for a short period of time, but without proper obstacles and pushback from the game, it's much harder to get players to stay long-term. For this game to work, I have to agree the community itself is what really makes the game fun. I really hope they add more stuff like hotpot as that is an actual fun challenge that for once does not revolve around item grinding. I say this as someone who loves Palia, I play it all the time, but I find it hard to recommend to everyone for this very reason.
I totally get what you’re saying and I hope they add more stuff like hot pot too! I even (at one point) thought some cozy combat to collect rare loot (like dungeons) in other MMOs would be really nice addition to the game. I got mixed reviews on that though.
I never liked Palia... I tried to love it no matter what. I hate doing the garden. Money is hard to make, and the clothes are hideous.. Avatar... with horrible face and body. I rather to go for play instead of WORK!
Honestly money grind has been one of the easier aspects for me, i keep my farm stocked all the time and preserve what i get from it before selling. Star apple jam is a killer for money....... tip: if you only play for a short time you can maximise your farm progression by logging in at XX:10 of the hour to do weeding and watering then at XX:15 the day rotates and you can do a second round of weeding and watering that way you only need to log in for about 10 minutes every 2 hours to keep it rolling rather then once every hour
