Glad you enjoyed it! Thats what I was going for, just being able to cover the real “basics” of eskate. There is a a lot of information out there and hopefully this can help narrow it down for some people!
In the beginning, get the largest diameter wheels possible. Softer/Larger diameter wheels were WAY more forgiving of my mistakes on bad pavement. I am still learning as a commuter but now I feel confident enough to go from a "Cloud" type wheel to a street wheel and probably increasing my range.
OK, so it isn't just me. I started on Clouds 120, now Im trying Madz 105 and really like them and they do have a great feel when carving, but I felt safer and a bit more comfortable on the CLouds 120. I noticed this when I went over railroad tracks on the Madz, it felt a bit sketchy.
Can you consider testing and reviewing The Halo Board Beast …is a direct drive Board …there is plenty of reviews in their site …but no where else …a few unboxing videos and probably 1 or 2 reviews here in UA-cam…I would like to know what you think … The board looks very similar to the ONSRA black carve direct drive …so in one review someone referred to this board as a clone ??? Not sure what that means…they look a like but the specs are totally different…Your reviews are very thorough , will be great to hear what you think 💭 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
So I’ve heard of the halo board but never actually seen one. Clone board means a company just straight copied or even bought older product from other vendors and remade it as their own. I know that they exist but they aren’t the newest boards out there, personally I’d Recommend more relevant companies that stay up to date with the tech trends.
Well I own a Halo Board Beast gen 1…with a few upgrades…it will be interesting to hear from someone that has experience with other boards …this is my first EBoard and I have it for about 2 years and put over 400miles on it…I think I know all the pros and cons of this board, is not the cheapest but I think is worth, I’m having a lot of fun …also they have a great customer service, with headquarters in CA USA …I had a free repair the first time under warranty and a second time, paid …both times the board went back and forth from PA To CA in about 10 days, free shipping…so I think that is very positive for a company that borrowed technology from someone else …the clone thing, does not make it less … I asked Daniel Kwan once, but for him was difficult to source this board in his country…so if your interested, my Board is available for a review…if you are interested, let me know your thoughts 💭
Great video...I've been eboarding since 2015 and surfed and skated well before that. I'm looking for a 2-1 set up what's your top choice eboard long board set up?
That’s a tough question! So many different options out today! If you have Instagram message me @DE_drones if you have Facebook look me up Drew Eli and send me a message. We can find out what your exact needs are and match you up with the best board!
⚡I have a better question, *where does it end?* 😂⚡ All of us are maaad addicted once we start lol. Shortboards with RKP and looong longboards with DKP are my go to's but I adore the classic Boosted style flexy and not too heavy board and miss ridin it. Start with one to figure out what you like but minimum I recommend is at least 2 different boards once you figure that out. I like 3 😂
Great video, man. I'm looking for my first eboard right now and have a few in mind but just deciding on when to pull the trigger on which to buy. My main goal is getting max mileage on a budget. Around $500. And I'm trying to go for a hub motor one instead of belt ones mainly because I see that it requires more maintenance even though it's better overall than a hub motor one. And hub motors are probably easier to kick push just in case I run out of battery in the middle of nowhere. Right now, I am leaning into the Possway T3 a lot. Then there's the Lycoan Swift and Backfire Zealot. The zealot i'm kind of not favoring much because of the belt system but backfire has such good reputation that it's hard to ignore it. (plus, Backfire just announced their new boards so hoping the price of the zealot goes down even further) But sadly, it's looking like Possway and Lycoan are going out of business. Just a suspicion, though. So that's another thing I need to consider, I guess. And my goal is to ride it in NYC so I think 105mm wheels is a minimum requirement to survive the tragic streets of Manhattan. haha.
So, I would personally go with the zealot out of any of these choices. I believe they JUST dropped the price of the older one and belt isn’t that much more maintenance other than if you snap a belt you need to replace it, it’s very simple, over all you’ll find much more growth and comforting the zealot over any hubdrive board for long term. I hope that helps answer some of your questions! Let me know what you think
@@DrewElia Thanks for the response, man. YEah, i've been doing research and asking around and it seems that the Zealot is the way to go for me. My main goal for this board is to actually use it to do UberEats deliveries. I currently do them walking right now and was thinking of the next step up that works well for my situation. So I thought an eboard with an extra battery would work. And yeah, I don't want to shell out much since it might not even work well for me.
Ey man, I’m about to order my first eskate (Lorentz Major) and your videos/review was one of the first one I saw, so thank you for that 👏 My question is how loose is too loose when it comes to loosening your trucks/bushings? Is there a chance that it the screw/bolt that holds the trucks can come off while riding? 😬😬😬
I love the Lorentz! So when it comes to trucks i wouldn’t “loosen” them up to much, what you want to do is play with different bushing set up. Putting in harder or soft bushings at the same Tightness on the trucks will provide totally different experiences! I loved testing out and enjoying different style of bushings from riptide personally
@@DrewElia this is a whole new beast for me as I started with my journey on PEV with my first OneWheel (GT), and now the GTS, and looking into the MAJOR (so excited to place my order). But bushings/tracks are definitely something I have to fine tune and see what it’s all about. I’ll be purchasing as well the riptide attachment for the MAJOR, and some bushings from riptide as well
Can you do an updated version of this video for eskaters that are getting there first real board with street wheels, PLEASE? I ask because I am getting my first real board with street wheels and I am PETRO for real, I have bad fall anxiety :)
nice! yeah I was a snowboard instructor and we would stand behind people and give them a little shove forward and whatever foot they put out first was their main stance!
For my first electric skateboard I'm looking at the something like the Lacroix Jaws. I know it's a very powerful skateboard but I want something with good speed and stability and I plan on going slow with it till I get the hang of it
Thanks I'll definitely check that board out. Another one I was considering was the Evolve Hadean which as of now is 500 off which I think for that price is worth it but if I'm paying the full 2000 I'd rather pay the extra 200 and go for something like the Lacroix.
Hadean is a different board compared to the Lacroix. Lacroix is a smaller company that makes hand built boards, evolve makes 2-1 boards like every other company out there. There are other boards in the Hadean class that have more bang for buck
Drew, if you could remember what is this specific model? at 6:00, it seems to be the same model at 4:49? If you can remember can you drop the name for me? A friend is looking for an entry board and this may just be something for him :)
I wish all PEV videos were like this. Very informative. Great video.
Appreciate it my man! Thanks so much for checking it out! Hopefully I can expand into other PEV and make more content!
Awesome video for those just getting into ESK8 and want to learn about all the options out there, covered pretty much everything!👍

Another great video from Drew!
Thank you AK!!! Appreciate the kind words!
Great video. Would love to see a full video just about the battery. How to treat them and get the most life out of them.
Sounds good! I know batteries are a serious part of the board and I will put out a battery maintained video!
Great video Drew! I loved your intro. So much great info here. You did a great job.
Thanks Ronan! Really appreciate it my man!!!
@@DrewElia I was hoping to get to it sooner, but I had very little time recently 😞 but I’m going to take a little more time for myself now!
great video thank you Drew
Thank you so much hope it helped out!!
Nice video Drew can't wait to ride this summer.
It’ll be sooner than that my man! Weather is warming up and I’m itching to get out! I’m
Mboards endurance! Best beginner board lmao
I can be!!! You’ll never need to upgrade
Great video mate. Really informative.
Thanks man! See you soon!!

Very true! Larger wheel’s definitely can ease out the bumps and cracks in the road!

Just start with an Eovan GTS Carbon Super to start, set the VESC setting low on torque and work your way up to full amps. 😈
