This is my second original song. I started this one on acoustic guitar and experimented with a couple of different arrangements before adding the Cajon part and going with a slight reggae feel. I’m beginning to realize that a song can head in almost any direction once you start to make up parts and I think I have a lot more writing, experimenting and learning to do before I land on a style I can call my own. Thank you all very much for how supportive you have been as I explore music.
I’m 13 years old and I want to be a drummer when I grow up. I think drummers are cool but I'm a huge fan of girl drummers / female drummers. There are some super good ones on UA-cam that I'd love to be as good as one day. I thought it would help me keep focused if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. Hopefully, I will keep doing it and keep getting better. - Розваги

What a nice production. You've got to be happy with your music. Some are great carpenters, Doctors, law enforcement or your understanding of Music. You just get it. I played 3 years Clarinet. 3 more years on Tenor Sax. I got pretty good but I knew after 6 years I wasn't going to be great. And my musical playing was not a passion because it was hard for me. I'm really excited for you to see how many oportunities your handed. I think your going have an amazing life being happy.

It should be obvious to Mia and her fans that at 13.5 she had established 'a style' that has remained with her for all these years. She had her musical technique highly developed though it evolved with age and frustration. She has added to 'her style.' Perhaps there is a price to pay for being so consistently good for so long. Her song choices have become more varied since she turned 16. As so many of us have observed, it seems that her creativity has exploded in a mature way. Perhaps her song writing will explode now. It only takes one wildly accepted song to germinate more. For me, she is a creative revelation now. As she is out there, everywhere, gigging every night, and she is hot in the spotlight, her reverie and imagination will write lyrics that bring people closer to her poetic soul. She has the required persistence. Maybe patience is all that remains.
Something There
Definitely there is "Something There" in your writing skills and abilities.
I'm sure you understand about listening to songs multiple times and they have more meanings and grow into your liking much, much more!
Your songs are like that Mia!
I hope others listen to them more then one time and get the full effect of the songs meaning.

I never anticipated making videos would be, or even could be as big a part of what I do with music but it's turned into a quite motivating outlet. I don't see stopping :) I'm with you on new songs, there are a bunch of albums that I listened to so many times that I will get to where practically every song grabs me. Some happen very quickly and I'm guessing those are the ones the business folks are hunting for but the fans can take their time and get to know what's not so obvious.

I have already expressed how much I love your originals.
I go back and watch and listen and I do come up with questions? I see you are there singing and others are around you and yet they are not paying attention to what you are doing. Are you singing out loud during the filming of this ? I know if I were there I would enjoy seeing this take place! One day they will know your name and realize who that was singing around them! You have come a long ways Mia Morris and this is going to be a never ending ride. I am very thrilled to be witnessing your future Mia.
That used to sort of freak me out but I've gotten pretty used to making videos with people noticing. Some people stop and watch a bit and some get bold and do things in the shot.. like in, Go On Get Away. I don't mind either way... the more the better :)

My first time watching/listening to this song of yours Mia. Not bad for 13. It's got a nice little melody and easy to sing along too. It sounds like modern country pop with a tinge of reggae influence. Like the video. Cant be too sad on the beach huh ? Oh' yeah - I still like doing those because it keeps me working at getting better on drums but I try to spend more time on writing since it's a way bigger deal to me and I think it's by far the most significant thing you can do in music. The last 2 drum covers have really blown up and I get that people prefer listening to songs they already love. I'm happy to have more people to put videos out to but eventually, I want people to connect to something I write. I've just begun so I don't expect much yet but it's my priority and I plan on keeping at it.
Have you noticed that Miamorris is Miami plus a few extra letters? lol :)

Some unsolicited advice:
1.) Be true to yourself. You are on the right track.
2.) You are a beautiful young woman, please don’t get into the tattoo fad. It lasts a lifetime and looks trashy.
3.) Stay away from drugs and heavy drinking when these “ friends” offer them to you. I’m sure you know enough rock and roll history to see amazing people and careers destroyed.
4.) Avoid shortcuts. Stay away from the network “talent “ shows. You are better than that.
5.) Get smart about protecting your songs.
6.) Keep having fun and smiling! You are awesome!!
Thank you so much for watching some of the original work and for taking the time to send this. The stuff I write means way more to me than everything else. I have no objection to anything you've listed and I find #4 interesting. I'm with you. I see those shows and they seem completely fake and void of the things that speak to me in music. SO many songs I love are so far from slick and perfect and those shows seems full of the opposite. I've never come close, but i'm trying to figure out how to capture something in a song that moves people. It doesn't have to make them sad or to think deeply, (that's cool too but) just feel something genuine. I hear songs like that so I know it can be done...

Here is another recommendation for this very good song... the fill at 3:15, put in some bass drum hits. Many times fills sound much better if you throw in a couple of deep bass drums hits, even some rapid double hits mixed in with tom hits. You are so close to that "magic recipe" for songwriting.
Your right about that fill - too much time passes without anything filling up the part of the sound.

Came across this after your drum cover popped up in my recommendations. Just felt the need to give you some advice that I wish someone would have given me. I've been a musician for most of my life. Focus on your technique. Hone your skills and never stop. Take the time to grow as a person. Let the music come from your heart and you'll be writing songs that speak to a large audience someday. You may not get exactly what I'm saying now but I promise you will someday.
I love the sound of all of that advice and sincerely appreciate you taking the time to give it. I hope I can follow it and learn to write songs that are genuine.
