    This is a song I wrote and finished recording in March. We got it finished just in time to shoot the video down in Seaside, Florida during our school spring break. The location and setting were perfect for the song because it’s about finding a place that seems magical only to find out it’s really the people and the adventure with them that provides the magic. This was the first music video where we tried to shoot more of a story line versus a performance video. I REALLY want to thank my friends Merrill, Luke and my brother Fritz for acting in the video. I really love how it turned out and I hope you like it too!
    I’m 13 years old and I want to be a musician when I grow up. I think drummers are cool and I'm a huge fan of girl drummers / female drummers. There are some super good ones on UA-cam that I'd love to be as good as one day. I thought it would help me keep focused if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. Hopefully, I will keep doing it and keep getting better.

    "I want to be a musician when I grow up". Hey, you already ARE one! A good one, too. Nice song. Stay focused, listen to your parents, get good management (maybe your parents for that too), and don't ever give up. You're way ahead of others your age. I'm sure we'll all hear more from you in the next 10 years.

    I have been listening to this song over and over, trying to focus on one aspect or another to try to give an informed opinion. Yes, it is just an opinion of a non-creative person about a creative work. I do not know that much about music but I am a consumer. I like the melody, the lyrics the music. I really like the drums, though as one who commented said that the drumming was too busy, I like that it was. It made this a Mia creation and not just another country song. I am sure if someone else covered this song, the drumming would be less busy (since there is only one Mia), but I think it works well with your creativity. Again, I know nothing about music production, but I like that this could easily be recognized as a Mia creation just because of the drum part. :-)

      I appreciate you taking the time to listen and really give any of my originals a chance. This song was actually conceived in a very different way form the others and you've actually figured it out. I wanted to try what's sometimes called, track & hook. It actually started with the drum track and was built from there. I think the approach works best with pop or rap and I really prefer melody and progression leading the way but I'm mostly trying to learn the art of songwriting and I'm going to take the same approach I have with the instruments I play. I like experimenting with any and everything. Once again, THANK YOU - Thank you for supporting me by giving my work your time. I promise to work hard at it :)

      Honest and non-corporate, yes (although no or not much harm in corporate dealings, if it is the right thing for the individual)
      Pleasant simplicity as well.
      Not an expert, but the beats did not seem simple to me.
      But such magic is to be expected from Mia and her Pack 💖

    The more I listen to your originals Mia, the more I get a feel for them! You certainly can be a great song writer.
    The only thing that will help
    "Is" YOU are going to have to sing and play them to have the quality of your songs, heard and played the proper way with your heart and perfection in them. I'm still astounded by all you have accomplish at such a young age...You have just as much chance as others past and present to make it to the TOP in your life. Look into what Mariah Carey did to promote herself and what she has accomplished. She made history, set records.
    You have what it takes also.
    Be patient and learn all you can! I'm (not) the only one who see's this in you....
    There is just too many words to list for a description of your skills and tallent. Many of us really enjoy you.
    Did you ever dream that you would be hearing such positive comments from your viewer's. It's all true, I'm one of them.....

    • @miamorrismusic
      @miamorrismusic  5 років тому +1

      I didn't figure I'd have viewers that would care to give any feedback good or bad so no, I never anticipated what has developed mostly over the last 12 months. I'm going to make sure I make time to do some more recording soon. I've got some originals that just need a bit more attention to be finished. Thanks for caring about them cause I'm convinced they are the key.

      man - thank you so much for taking an interest in my original stuff. IMO that's by far the most significant way to be and mean something in music. Writing songs that might just hang around and matter to someone is about as cool as it gets and what I most want to learn the art of.

      Everything you been doing is touching our music senses and making them dance 💃. You've already made so many awesome original songs that I'd love to have in my car and play over and over on a road trip. That says it all Mia. I've been a music lover for many many years. But that said, there hasn't been many new artists worth listening to lately. Young new artists like yourself and Liliac and Sina have given me hope for the future. Since you like girl drummers do you like Haim? Those three sisters are pretty amazing. They all drum and play other instruments and of course sing. Check them out if you haven't already. 👍👍

      You don't know how happy i am to read this... so, lots of folk come by my channel by way of drums. I get that. heck, it's really the only thing I do all that well BUT, I really want to learn how to write good songs. here's the catch: really great drum songs are mostly rock or heavy which I love but when I write, it just doesn't come out that way. maybe that will change but I know it's a tough ask to have folks that love to see me play SOAD and still be inclined to have any interest in songs with a 13-year old girl singing. i'm ranting - sorry - I'm glad you checked out some of the originals and I promise to work at those at least as hard as I've been working at drums for the last 3 years. I'm hoping a really good song will transcend styles that my voice is likely to portray. Sorry for the novel :)

    This one auto-loaded on UA-cam after playing "Go on get Away", I hadn't heard it before. This time I concentrated on the music instead of your voice and also went back to listen to some of your other originals. The complexity of the arrangements is quite surprising. You are quite the song writer! The melody is simple, that makes it "catchy" and the music makes it worth going back to and giving them a more "in depth" listen to, which in my opinion is the key for your music not to be considered "disposable". 👍

    Very well done. Not my style of music....close but very well done. And knowing you wrote and played all instruments and sang...wow! And you're 13! That's when I was in my first band. Many, many years ago...back when dirt was first invented....Sorry, I'm feeling old. I hear a possible classic rock influence which I love but more of a hip hop style? Nice words, nice flow, and you play all instruments well and sing real good. You are doing what I've wanted to do all my life....play all instruments, sing, record, produce...I'm trying to set up my home studio but my work-10 1/2 hour work days as a supervisor in a factory-drains me. Plus keeping up with home repairs...family needs..no kids sadly...more like elderly parents and other family members that constantly demand attention and...well, I won't go through all that...my life is busy and not by my wanting. I listened to the entire song and I hope that one day you will experience all your dreams...It's great to see young people doing something so awesome and writing really good music...not the trash people put out mainstream no days....good luck to you Mia - love that name - Aerosmith song I love is called that...keep up the great work...you are an inspiration and your parents must be very proud...I would be

    Hi Mia! I finally got around to checking it out and I really like it! Great flow to the lyrics and music. I noticed the electric guitar was more prominent. Nice addition. I assume you were the one-girl band on all instruments?? :) The songs are racking up you should be cutting an 8-Track soon! (do you know what an 8-track is??) LOL!! Keep going Mia! :)

    • @miamorrismusic
      @miamorrismusic  6 років тому

      I must admit I didn't know what an 8-track was. Yep, i'm still trying to learn how to play everything. I would be really bad live on most instruments but it's much easier to record until you get it right. As far as the style goes, I don't fight it. I don't really have any sort of style I seem to stay with. I'm hoping I record something so good that it points the way but I've got a long way to go for that i'm afraid :)

      I agree. Just go with the flow of how you feel. The more experimenting you do the more you will figure out your own thing... as in what works and what don't. It's a process for sure that in time will come naturally. :-)

    Your singing is great and of course song writing is going to be great for the future since you write the songs. Fantastic all around. Just curious if rock is out your drum covers and playing? Be diverse in music as you show in your many levels of skill.
    Have fun doing it......

      I'm not sure I understand your question but if I do, this might be rant. If your asking about the, "style" of music I'm doing in my original stuff, I think about that more than I'd like to. I listen to a really wide range of music and I listen to a lot of rock because I play a lot of drums. I love Zeppelin, Rage, Primus and other heavier stuff when I'm playing kit and there really isn't much being produced today that I can grab on to along those lines. I also listen to some popular music and a bunch of really raunchy rap that seems to be popular today. There are almost no musicians playing on that stuff let alone drummers. I can always enjoy listening to Americana style stuff like the Lumineers, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, Avett Brothers and all the bands over the last 30 years that brought that style along like the Bodeans and Violent Femmes. So.... when I write, I find myself under the influence of whoever I listened to last and I'm okay with that. The problem is, when I sing, I sound like a 13 year old girl so any style i'm leaning on gets a large dose of young girl and not Robert Plant.
      At this point, I really think writing with a style in mind isn't helping me write good songs and that's what I want to do. There are a lot of musical styles that seem to be more about the sound/style and less about the song and I REALLY like some of those styles but trying to write like that helps me get better at imitating styles not at writing songs. If I can learn how to write really good songs, I think the style is less important and will take care of itself eventually.
      Sorry to rant and back to your comment... I will continue to enjoy any music that moves me and I hope to someday be able to create some that does. I love doing it so the fun goes without saying. Thank you for your encouragement :)

    It's crucial to understand that even though you're a monster drummer, you have to play drums (for) the song. The drumming was much too busy for this song. In other words, just because you can, doesn't mean that you should. The sooner you learn this, the better. :)

      First off - Thank you for checking out some of the original stuff and for taking the time to help. I absolutely get what you're saying and I agree. It's hard to be objective along the way but I will continue to remember that the song is the thing to get right. Everything needs to work together to make a perfect whole. I know that in theory - I've got a long way to go to know how to do it.

      Yep, that's why the lines, especially on guitar are pretty simple. I'm not trying to be subtle, that's all I've got :) The keyboards are all simple parts too. I love working in the studio because you can make simple ideas work together into something that sounds pretty good. Thanks for checking out some original stuff. (the drummer is sometimes a show off but everyone else is very tasteful)

    • @therealdandyhouse
      @therealdandyhouse 6 років тому

    • @miamorrismusic
      @miamorrismusic  6 років тому

      yeah me :) that's a running joke that the drummer is the only on that can overplay - because (she's) the only one that can, actually play with some skill. - the singer has serious work to do

      @therealdandyhouse 6 років тому

      lol Just continue doing what you're doing, Mia. Everything's gonna fall into place nicely. lol.. Hey Owen. It is my favorite thing to have the gear and the help to spend much of my time, (when i'm not in school) making music. The song is about being someplace amazing, like spring break, and thinking it is the location that makes it so special only to discover it's really the people that make it magic. It's also about wanting someone you like, to feel the same way about you :)
