I like how these older stars just calmly do their thing, as if it is simply a normal, natural expression of their personality. No straining, no effort, no screwing up their face or fluttering their fingers. It feels like there is nothing false and there is no artifice involved. Simply a person sharing their feelings through song.
Because they had talent. Didn't need gimmicks
I think they also sang simpler songs. Modern pop music in particular seems to ask for high notes and overly powerful vocals and overly perfect production values, which is great from a technical standpoint but doesn't have the heart that older music did.
That's because it was that's what we call real musicians
It's simply. Patsy had one of the purest voices and delivery that we've been blessed to hear.
When I think of the two top vocalists with the purest voices it’s Patsy Cline and Karen Carpenter come to mind.
That was not the voice she was born with, actually. When she was 13 she became very ill with something attacking her throat (probably mono, in my experience). Once recovered, she noticed her voice had changed into a ''booming'' (her words) voice. That's when she wanted to start singing.
So glad to see the appreciation.....Patsy from another planet. Just great !
Patsy had one of the best voices around. She had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love" etc. She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams".
Hey Mr. Dagmar, I am wg Davis; I need some help.. There is an Highlighted reply to my Comment to Ms. Britt; it is from TEXT ME, it says "Hit me up.. Got something special for you" What crap is that?? I have seen something similar before, what is going on?? Thx. W.G.
Patsy Cline was only 30 years old when she was killed in a plane crash. It’s such a shame that she didn’t live a long life like her friend Loretta Lynn did and become a grand dame of country music. She had such a special voice and there was so much talent that went with her. RIP Patsy.
I have read that she didn’t think she’d make it to thirty. She sadly wasn’t off by much.
YEAH SHE DID HAVE THAT FEELING... SO SAD
MY MOM CRIED WHEN SHE HAD THAT CRASH, NEVER WILL FOGET IT FOR MY MOM WAS A STRONG WOMAN AND NEVER SHOW US WEAKNESS OF CRYING. I HOPE MY MOM GETS TO HANG IN HEA EN WITH HER
Great reaction Brit! Patsy had so much tragedy in her life which is delivered through her AMAZING vocals. Died way too young! 😢
Memories as a kid with that voice always on a cafe juke box or coming over the car radio. Everyone of all ages loved her.
Love this song - so powerful!!! all buzinss
Patsy had such complete control over her voice, from the cry on "weeping" to the little growl on the final chorus. She was amazing and was an influence on every female country vocalist that came after her. Imagine what she would have become if her life hadn't been cut short. This is an example of what was known as "The Nashville Sound", a production style in the late 50's to mid 60's. As a general rule, if there was a steel guitar on the track, it was intended for country radio; if there was a vocal group, it was intended for pop radio.
You'd look fabulous in fringe.I had a moment. My mother passed in September and she always said the bees knees.🥲
Legendary Patsy not legendary for nothing. Damn plane crashes took so many legends from us.
There's one Patsy song that will have you freaking out at the range and textures in her voice....Sweet Dreams. She takes the world TO CHURCH! Don't pass that one by! Sweet Dreams...
~Lesa on my husband's account
You gotta check out her song, "She's Got You".
If she would have lived she would have been a cross over singer more then what she was. Such an icon.
Doris Day recorded a song called "Secret Love" and the music had the same beat as this Patsy Cline song. The beat reminds me of riding a horse, but that could be because the Doris Day sung this while riding a horse.😊
Patsy Cline is the queen of country
... "because I'd probably try to find it on Amazon"...you are adorable! 😊
As I said in the CRAZY reaction, THE finest female voice in country music EVER...
Her voice can make one dream. One needs to hear the rest of her songs and it is hard to pick the best because they are all outstanding.
You got that right, John. It might be more accurate to take all of Patsy Cline's releases as a group. I've been listening to her for more than sixty years and I can't think of one that wasn't beautifully noteworthy!
She was country blues. One of the best singers EVER!
I love all of her voice!!!❤
Patsy had the unique ability to maintain complete control of her voice just had the verge of yodeling, but not quite. Difficult and extremely beautiful, what a voice.
One of the finest voices of our times in ANY genre!!!
Patsy absolutely WAS a force. You would definitely enjoy a song called Blue sung by a FOURTEEN year old LeAnn Rimes, who was tabbed as the next Patsy Cline. I love how you work clothes and attitude into your reactions.
Love PC. Next you should react to Sweet Dreams . Thank you for being such an outstanding reactor
Love love love me some Patsy
There are, and always have been, so many amazing singers, musicians and songwriters. The magic of recordings is that we can share their artistry through time and space. Imagine all the great performers we'll never have a chance to experience because they had the misfortune to be working before they could be recorded.
A great classic. While Patsy Cline died over 60 years ago, two of my favorite Country Ladies ever died just recently and less then 2 full years apart. Both of Cancer. Holly Dunn in November of 2016 at the age of 59 and Lari White at the age of just 52 in January of 2018. You will be hard pressed to find two better voices in the last 35 plus years then those two. Holly and Lari's songs are woefully under reacted too, and I'm desperately trying to change that. Give a listen to Holly's haunting "Why Wyoming, the harrowing "When No Place Is Home", and the moving "Just Across The Rio Grande" for Starters. In the video to "Strangers Again" from 1987 Holly apparently plays Patsy Cline. With Lari you could start with her duet she Co-wrote with Travis Tritt from 1997 called "Helping Me Get Over You". She has two other amazing duets called "Another Broken Heart" with a Spanish guy who's name I can't spell, and a powerhouse ballad with Toby Keith called "Only God Could Stop Me Loving You". Holly and Lari both deserve allot more attention on these reaction channels then they have gotten so far. They were both phenomenal singers, musicians and song writers. Neither got the recognition they justly deserved in life, although both had Gold Albums, Holly had 4 Number 1 songs and was nominated for 3 Grammy's. Lari had a Gold Album, and actually won 3 Grammy Awards. All of their albums were good enough that they could have been Multi-Platinum sellers. Incidentally, Both Holly and Lari had versions of "Walking After Midnight that they performed in their live shows in honor of Patsy Cline.
Patsy Cline, defintiely had an attitude and needed to in a male dominated Country Scene. She took no guff and demanded respect. She mentored Loretta Lynn as Patsy was her hero. They toured together often.
WE ALL LOST PASTY WAY TO SOON!!! SHE WAS SO VERY TALENTED!!! EVERY SONG WAS, AND STILL IS LIKE MELTED BUTTER!!!....
this was her first hit. she had trouble getting another hit. Producer told her they were going with big production, with wide appeal but country sounding as well as pop music sound. Lots of R and B influence. She was really singing the blues on all those hits, or a torch song. you imitate her so well you should do one of hers with backing music and entertain us! 😁 one of the greatest sing voices to ever exist. she could sing the kitchen sink and make it sound perfect.
Sweet Dreams, Imagine That, and Faded Love are three of my favorite songs by Patsy. She was such a talented singer and certainly left her mark on the world during her short life.
I love her too. She was one of the best
she is great!
Wonderful song wonderful reaction .
Immediately Yes. That’s my new phrase!!
Patsy Cline never fails to give me goose bumps when she sings. Legend.
There is an early record of Patsy where she sings them all faster rock=a-billy style but it didn't sell.
Someone told her to slow it down and croon the songs and they went to the top of the charts,
hit after hit after hit.
You are Special, Britt. You belong in the movies!
I looove your reactions!!!!..so great you make fall in love with songs all over again.
I’m loving how you’re loving Patsy! She was phenomenal!❤
Heartaches is another great number to check out.
The outfit is incredible it was dark blue velvet with white scarf and fringe. I was in charge of a Patsy Cline exhibition all of outfits were great and all hand made by her mother
I think I mentioned last time, that Patsy Cline is one of my earliest musical memories, growing up in the 60’s. She was one of my parents absolute favourites. They didn’t have many records so they played the few they did have...... a lot.
She had a very sultry, velvety voice. Sooooo beautiful.
This was her first number #1 hit.
Patsy is a genre of her own.
One of my favorite old time songs. She's so amazing.
You're reaction was so sweet! And I love Patsy too. When I here her, it makes me think of my late mom and dad, who were huge fans, and who turned me onto her. Patsy Cline and Hank Williams, two of the greatest to ever walk the face of the earth. Oh, and I love Zeppelin, Beatles, STP, Ray Charles, Khalid, Ella Mai, and so many others, but Patsy and Hank will always hold a special place in my heart.
Peace
I Love your personality! Keep up the great work. You are a Star! 😎🇺🇲👍🌟💯
😆 the Amazon comment made me giggle. I’m so glad I’ve found your reactions. Love it!
You need to react to SWEET DREAMS
Patsy Cline omg what an idle
I'm a steel guitar player. One of my mentors is the man that played the intro to this song. He name was don helms! I miss him!!
she was always one of my favorites ..
This is one of my dad’s favorite songs.
Everyone should admit that patsy cline Ruled. And no other Female can compete with her voice
Patsy felt what she sang. She has a cry in her voice. You can hear it when she sings "Sweet dreams". Also she was really crying as she recorded "Faded love". By the end of the song she can't stop. It's amazing to hear her sing. If the audience cheers her on, Patsy gets excited & gives even more of herself into the song.
Try "Sweet Dreams" by Patsy. Another great artist that some say is Patsy reincarnated is LeAnn Rimes. Check out her debut song at 13 called "Blue".
She's got you and I fall to pieces are also great.. so many hits for a short life
That was a world of traveling across the country by bus, staying at cheap motels, laundromats, coffee shops, and honky-tonk taverns. Been there when I was young.
Willie.Nelson wrote the.song.Crazy that Patsy recorded
There is no music like this anymore.
2 words, Sweet Dreams. Gorgeous ballad from the legendary Patsy.
I had to laugh ...your reaction was mine ! Listening with a head rock and smile !
Thanks !
One of the greatest voices in country music ever
You’re too funny! My favourite reactor!🎼🤗💞
You should hear LeAnn Rimes' singing "Blue," is was a song the was pitched to Patsy Cline, but she died before she could record it.
Greatest female vocalist EVER.
Yes yes yes! Now this is how to hear that ( cry) in her voice. And. Yes. I believe every word ! Powerful beautiful voice. Oh . What might have been. So we treasure what we have. Country giant! No auto tune. Bk then . You could sing. Or stay home. Nothing to hide behind. Talented lady! ..glad ya found her… til the next time.. F/DW… dan..3/02/23
.. 🎈🍬🎈 .. this is the good stuff Miss Confusion !!! .. luvvvvvv Patsy's smokey voice .. mmmmmmmm mmmmmmm
Patsy and Karen Carpenter are my favorites. Why do the good ones leave us so soon? 😢
Brit..am new hear..but I have to tell ya! Girl...I think you are Amazing!!!! I love your critique style and how you put a lot of hear, soul, emotion into your format...so keep up the fantastic work! And I will keep watching..all the best! Jac.
Its the classiest blues you'll ever ... as all her songs were. Simply the best
Growing up in Toronto in the sixties still heard this fairly often till mid sixties at least
Patsy's a _monster_
Britt, u HAVE TO listen to, Tell Me Now, Get It Over, by Patsy!!! My fav, & I would NEVER steer u wrong girl!!!
this is the best
love this!
I suggest Patsy's She's Got You. Fun Fact: she and Loretta Lynn were best friends. Loretta even named one of her twins Patsy
Girl you was havin some real fun with that song. Regards, Jim the Brit in NI UK
Patsy was phenomenal - lots of great songs. She was authentic - the real deal. Died way too young.
You’re feeling the steel guitar. Hawaiian born, used a lot in country. ❤
I love Patsy. As usual, the unique singers all die in plane crashes.
Ya, we wanted to see her in color too. Problem was, we didn't have color tv back then.
Walking along the highway after midnight? Certainly another place, another time.😊
This song was a crossover hit in the charts, but she was so cool. She died too soon in a plane crash. Her music lives on forever.
I think you're hooked on Patsy. This one's more country than Crazy, with the steel guitar. I think it was here first hit.
SWEET DREAMS is also a consumate Patsy Cline
This is a classic, love patsy.
Brit try KD Lang- Hallelujah live at the Canadian Olympics!
She’s amazing too!
Thanks you’re awesome girl.
Willie Nelson wrote alot of the songs she sang
You should listen to her sing sweet dreams at the grand ol opry
❤️
Has a very rich singing voice
That was an early performance before she plucked her eyebrows and painted on new ones. That was sort of a thing back then. I remember my mom and sister doing that.
Patsy was one of the few singers who could put that "cry" in her voice that made you think she was crying. Love her music, to this day!
I for one was pleasantly surprised to hear you use the term "Bees knees".
Patsy Cline was the GOAT of the old “country-western” singers.
Patsy and her mother made most of her costumes and that one looks like the one in red with white fringe. Search Patsy with images.
I remember my mother playing her music in the 1960s. As a teenager in the 70's I had my own Patsy Cline cassette. Even though I wasn't a big country music fan I loved her voice and her songs.
I'm afraid you can't get those fringes at Amazon. Patsy's mother made all of her stage costumes for Patsy, sometimes sewing on as many as 1000 individual sequins on a single suit. And hand-cutting all the fringes.
