    I love your videos and I hate to be the one to do this, but when talking science, nothing is "just" a theory. To be labelled a theory is an honor, as it means your model is a good explanation for natural phenomena, such as the kinetic molecular theory. It describes something that can be readily tested using the scientific method and that has held up under intense scrutiny.
    Normally I would let it pass as many people use the non-scientific definition of theory, but the context in which it was used implies the scientific definition.
    Regards.

    • @Facts.inMotion
      @Facts.inMotion  7 років тому +85

      Do you really think I'm not aware of what a scientific theory is?
      I don't think that just because there are "scientific theories" its forbidden to use the word "theory" as a stand-in for "speculation" even when talking about a scientific subject. It depends on how you use it. The way I used it, it should be clear that I'm not talking about a scientific theory here - simply by using "just". Also because even if it proves to be true "sleeper sharks in loch ness" would never be a considered a scientific theory anyway, but rather a (scientific) fact - For the same reason "sharks live in the ocean" is not a scientific theory but simply a fact.
      That being said. Its probably wise to not add to the confusion about what (scientific) theories are. Simply to avoid more nonsense like "evolution is just a theory" so I will make sure to use a different stand-in for "speculation" in further videos.
      Thanks for the constructive criticism ; )

    • @feragosmyxixarashtra7948
      @feragosmyxixarashtra7948 6 років тому +1

      Barrage Dzns Nessie is not a Mosasaurus,and the Monstersillhuette in the end of the Video represents a Plesiosaurus, *not* a Mosasaurus!
      If you would know something about Mosasaurus than you should know that they had big and Long Heads and short necks,
      other than the Plesiosaurus which is in that term the opposite.
      And i mean if Nessie is real that the propability is far bigger that it should be something like a big sea snail than a Prehistoric amphibian living reptile,even if i like the way of Plesiosaurus Nessie from all the ideas much more than the snail thing,it is just not so probably like the snail 🐌 because Nessie seems to change size and Physical appearance from sighting to sighting,like some say it was 20 Metres long and had one or more cusps,others say it has no cusps but is far bigger like 45 Metres,or smaller like 5-10 Metres.
      But still, *remember,it's just a Theory,A GAME THEOR* - No wrong franchise,what i mean is,that as long that we think that Nessie exists,it is existent in our Hearts.
      But i mean even if we one time finally find something,what do we do?Do we kill it,catch it and bring it into a zoo,let it live in Loch Ness,kill it and experiment on it or bring it to another place where no one can hurt it and it cannot hurt us...or what?
      Pls leave Comments below,i want answers!

    They researched into the seal killings of the Aleutian Islands. They determined it was Greenland sharks due to there unique jaw/teeth and there good sense of smell that allows them to track prey, they rely on this over there poor eyesight, in the waters around the islands. The suspected the way they catch the seals is when they rest/sleep underwater as you mentioned due to there camouflage being ineffective against the sharks sense of smell.

    You are improving so much! I've been watching since your first video, and before you had 1k subs. Everything about your channel is just splendid, and I'll be sure to keep watching. The first edition of this video was great, but you completely blew it out of the park. Keep up the amazing work!

    Please say octopedes or octopi

    • @Facts.inMotion
      @Facts.inMotion  7 років тому +42

      english isn't my first language, so I often google unusual words to make sure what I say is correct. What I found is that the correct plural of "octopus" is either "octopodes" (because it's actually greek and not Latin) or "octopuses", which would be the anglicized version. Neither "octopi" nor "octopedes" seems to be a thing.

    • @luyil
      @luyil 6 років тому +4

      Kevin Taylor The word has been thrown around, it was at first “octopuses”, then switched to “octopi”, and now it’s officially “octopuses”. Plurality depends on where the origin of the word comes from.
