I think you pretty much nailed how I feel about the album. The music sounds cool but Bobby G's vocals are so lacklustre on half of the songs, the nadir (for me) being Settler's Blues. I think Holmes could have coaxed better performances or added more reverb/fx on the vox. Also a few songs contain lyrics that simply do not fit the music, and interesting juxtapositions these are not. Playing is top notch (nice one Innes!), as are the sublime arrangements. Better than Chaosmosis, not as consistent as neither Utopian Ashes, nor More Light though. 7.5/10. (and cheers for the review!)
Thank you for the comment! Yeah I agree completely with the vocal.. They could have added anything to liven them up, even just a little. I liked most of the music, but again, I felt like it was nothing new and a bit dated.
