      Really based take to have at the beginning of the video. It's true that much of this is nothing new under the sun. It's just the internet has made it more visible and accessible than ever before. If anything it's helped the women have more control and financial success over their lives and put barriers between the crazy people, when in real life they are often made to be victims. I'm not saying any of this is ethical or healthy, but it is what it is, getting angry about something that's basically a part of human nature is a waste of time.

    • @ellienyah
      @ellienyah 2 роки тому +10

      @@Numb_ I did epal as my "job" in 2020 when it first came out and charged about $7 per league game. I had just graduated from college and didn't have much else to do at the time. Back then I was ~top 5 on the site. Unless you have a lot of regulars, it's exceedingly rare to get enough customers to get full time hours, and it's probably even more so now that people are finally returning to regular pre-pandemic life.
      Honestly, including the time I spent in lobby small-talking (you don't want to make them feel like you're rushing them into the game), waiting for queue, in champ select, saying goodbyes (again, you don't want to make them feel like you're rushing to get out of the call), I made like $10 an hour or less. On my best month, I made about ~$1400 grinding day in day out. And a lot of these guys will think that you're their friend after a few games and start messaging you just for fun, not to buy games. That shit ain't worth my time lmao.

    I still do E-Pal and I'm one of the girls that appeared in 1:10. It can get intense because my "regular clients" often build an attachment to me over time, and expect or want more than I can give. I had also a similar issue with the harassment described in the video, and unfortunately, the site wasn't able to do much to help get this guy off the site (we're talking 200+ registered accounts, stalking of social media accounts, stalking of my friends and their mutuals' socials, linkedins, trying to get someone fired by messaging their boss)... etc. However, in saying that, I have met 1-2 people that were initially clients that I'm still considering about converting into friends, but it's hard to go from paying client to friend.

      The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” countries.

    A sad reflection of our current state of society. A lot of lonely guys paying money to girls just to play with them, that's pathetic and sad. @@devon6039 To some level yes, there will always be scammers and those that profiteer off suffering. But the current plethora of opportunities to do so is a result of a society that is still playing catchup to its constantly evolving status. 100 years ago women outnumbered men somewhere around 3:2, this meant that there was rarely a scenario in which a normal man would be unable to find someone. These days men actually outnumber women and the effects on society are becoming very apparent, the appearance of incels being around the time that men started outnumbering women isn't a coincidence and it is only going to get worse.

    • @devon6039
      @devon6039 Рік тому

      @@Outwardpd I see what you mean. According to Statista, "In the United States, the resident population was estimated to be around 331.89 million in 2021. The gender of the nation has remained steady for several years, with women accounting for approximately 51.1 percent of the population since 2013. Females outnumbered males in the majority of states across the country in 2020, and there were eleven states where the gender ratio favored men."

    • @Outwardpd
      @Outwardpd Рік тому

      @@devon6039 Yeah and it is even worse than that if you look at the age group breakdown. For example in 2021 there was 500,000 more men than women in the 15-19 year old age group. It doesn't seem to flip back to women outnumbering men until around the 45+ year old mark, and as time goes on it'll only become more lopsided.
      There have been increasing studies on the subject, and it is honestly even worse when you also take into account that there has been a drastic increase in older men 40+ going after young (18-25) women, reducing the pool even more. If you paired off every single member of the 15 to 29 age group that leaves 1,270,000 men single. Not even accounting for other factors which would increase that multiple times. That means millions of young men in their prime are literally unable to find someone largely due to no fault of their own.
      I don't support incels as a disclaimer they are disgusting group, but I do find their rise and the situation fascinating and also believe that if nothing is done to mitigate the problem... well I don't even want to know what would happen.
