I heavily prefer tuning a 6 string to standard over drop, besides that drop c on a 6 string has a good sound to it and needs to happen sometimes. If I'm playing my 7 or 8 string though, that thing is drop tuned 98% of the time cuz...that's the point right?? Having standard and drop all at once

A. 9 String guitar video in 9 minutes. Clever ;) B. I got to play the same Ibanez model at my local store for the first time few days ago!! It was fun!

It's crazy, the most musical moments from musician mansion is behind the scenes or side content ahah. Great way for discovering you all talented persons tho, really appriciate Jared's idea
Ive got that exact 9 sting with bare knuckles in it. I think it can be pretty fun to play. Every single fret has come loose on the high string side so it literally demands you to play the low C#
The amount of distortion sometimes sounds like guitar pro RSE. This is funny as hell and all these guitarists are great in their own right. Love the content, bro.
My 10 strings in a custom tuning - ADADADF(#)ADF(#) for basically super big open D tunings, I have a whale of a time with it when it gets picked up but these days I largely play a 4 string Hurdy Gurdy - how times change haha
Amazing reactions! I honestly have no idea how Drewsif was able to play what he did o.o Also curious as to what they would of thought if it was an H/09
there has to be a better tone to use or perhaps a way to split the signal on the lower strings to a different output? recordings with these things dont sound like this, so what do they do in the studio to have a cleaner tone?
Idk about recording a 9 string specifically but I imagine it’s the same principle as recording any guitar tuned lower than F. Remove any frequency below 250Hz with an EQ. Gives you note clarity. Run it through the amp or whatever Sim you’re running, then add back some of the lower frequencies (still excluding the lowest ones.) That’s what I do, I’ve found it gives you good clarity on every low note without sounding tinny or thin
I'd have asked for a clean tone so I could get oriented on what I was actually playing. That low string is tuned so low it just sounds like mud with distortion and the gain up to 11. It probably has a pretty nice tone on clean.
I have an Ibanez RGMS8 multi-scale 8 string, and you absolutely cannot attack it in any kind of aggressive way, especially on the lower strings. Power chords on the lower strings are also pretty much a no-no. I'm lucky I have creepy long fingers (that's what I've been told, I am 6'4") so it's not really that difficult for me to reach anything.
Id have so much fun with a 9 string. I like the gnarly and almost inaudible lowest string combined with the contrast of higher notes. Im surprised most people just roasted it instead of getting creative :p
you gotta admit for most people 9 strings is really jarring considering a good chunk of them only play 6-7 strings with the odd 8 string player, and not being able to gravitate towards the strings you use most (and considering that some people can just be overwhelmed by two many options) i think it’s perfectly reasonable for them to be just roasting it
I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected, cheers all! Btw I would never have any idea what the hell to do with a guitar like that, I’ll just stick to bass I guess lol

it is weird its not in a dropped tuning; its not like you are going to be running melodic scales that low especially with that tone.
