Ooh such exciting news. I retired 6 weeks ago and have never been busier. But it's a nice busy without any stress. I'm finding it quite easy to adjust to my new normal and have a new lease on life. I'm spending more time with my husband as he mostly works from home which is another bonus. We celebrate our 40years anniversary in June and still like each other!!!.... 😂😂😂.

Congratulations! That’s our plan as well, to retire when my husband turns 59. It is an adjustment for both when one spouse who used to travel a lot to all of a sudden be home. It seems like you two are making it work and enjoying your new life. Happy for you guys and congrats on the upcoming baby!

I was wondering, as you cannot ever recoup all renovation costs, buyers like to put their own stamp on a place,
do you really want to do extensive renovations, like kitchen etc. for the short term? You may not get your money back if you move

Congratulations Jim! Enjoy your time together. Hubby has been retired since 2020 he was 65. We enjoy morning coffee together. We do honey do things together. We went to Spain and Italy for 20 days for belated retirement due to Covid we went in October 2023.

Thank you! Yes, we worried about the possible baby confusion...so we kept saying things like, "Katie and Nate want a photo of you here", and "Oh, Katie wanted you to hold this for the photo" in hopes it would clue them in properly.

I was thrilled when Dave retired at 65, so much more time together now and travels.....because life goes too darn fast for late retirements.....a blessing to do it on the mark at 65 or earlier, even a bigger blessing.......enjoy!!
Congratulations to Jim on his retirement!!:) My hubby is hoping to retire within a couple of years, he is 56, owns a hectic, busy business so it will definately be soon time! Omg Gracie is absolutely adorable!!! What breed is she? She kind of looks a bit like our Baylee who is bishon /pomeranium. The car Jim is looking at is gorgeous!! My hubby looked & looked for his for 5 years & finally found it in August of 2021 while on a motorcycle trip lol! Boys & their toys lol!! I hope when my hubby does retire we can spend some time in Florida, we love it there!!

My hubs retired early too. After years at the same company he retired as a Senior VP about a year ago. We are so happy to be retired at 58 and 59. He worked hard our whole adult lives and now we get to enjoy life fully. We have a home in the Midwest and also a home in Florida and last year we spent four full months in Florida. I think we are going to sell both and settle in one home. We have enjoyed Florida but it’s not our year round vibe. Transitioning into having a full time hubby has been a really big transition for us. Lots of together time. 😂
Wonderful! The midwest will always have my heart...spent my entire life there until recently. Not sure where we'll end up in the long run, but enjoying ourselves here, for now! Good luck with finding your new spot!

Gosh Jennifer I wasn’t expecting that, you’ve only recently moved because of his job. Think I’d be tearing my hair out lol. It was such a big house move and everything which that involved, buying new furniture, time spent planning & designing new bedroom furniture. Hope all goes well from now on and you can stay put for a good few years xx

What a wonderful video! Congrats to your husband on retirement -- that is exciting for the two of you, especially as I presume it will mean more traveling, which is always my favorite. When you said you guys went to Naples to look at the car, I was like "Italy? For a car? That's exciting!" and then when I saw the make of the car, it made more sense... then I remembered there's a Naples in Florida. 🤣 Congrats also on the new addition-to-be to your extended family, and for sharing that moment with us all. That was very sweet too. That's wonderful! We have been discussing it for years and even looking for possible retirement places...but things kept popping up that Jim wanted to work on. Now just seemed like the right time. ♥️
Congratulations to Jim on his retirement and that he is finally home. It’s hard when they travel so much. My husband recently double retired at the age of 53. He always traveled while in the military so it’s been great to have him in one place. Enjoy all your excursions. Try to make your way to Destin, it’s beautiful there.

@@JustJennifer The emerald waters are amazing. Excellent food and scenic route 30A is so much fun. Lots of shops, and food. The manager at the place we stayed at has lived there his entire life and he provided us a list of all the best restaurants to eat at while we were there for a week. Plus in the mornings we had an air show because of the fighter jets flying above us. ✈️

Congratulations to your hubby on his retirement. My hubby retired at 66. I’m a writer so I don’t 😊plan to retire anytime soon. But we have done more traveling since he’s retired. He’s getting in a lot of golfing, too. As always, thanks for sharing Gracie with us. 😀

Please talk my husband into retiring! He’s 65 and says he won’t consider it until 70. I just don’t get it as we have our nest egg where it needs to be. He’s just someone who doesn’t want to stop working. Heck, I’m 58 and ready to retire! 😂 Congratulations, Jim. I hope you find that perfect Ferrari!

TWO WORDS: SRI LANKA. THREE WORDS ish: marina bay sands, singapore. We've got a telly programme here from the bbc called Amazing Hotels Life Beyond the Lobby. I think you'd LOVE IT at that resort. It may hbe way over your budget, but what a retirement present!!

I retired after 42 years as a nurse and don't regret it for a second. I've had cancer twice so really realise how precious life is
I'm really glad you are loving Florida. I was worried when you announced you were moving there, one of my best friends was organising to leave Florida at the same time as she has young children and wasn't happy with the politics, schooling etc.

So happy to hear you are enjoying retirement and are on the winning side of a cancer battle! That had to have been such a difficult and scary time. We had never wanted to live in Florida...did not feel it fit us in any way possible... But are pleasantly surprised by how much we love it here. That being said, I don't think I would want to live in certain areas or have young children in school here. But as retirees and/or having grown children, it really is wonderful. Also, cost of living is very high..so that is a factor, as well. For our current situation, it is a great fit (as long as we don't read the news to often...) but it's probably not our "forever" location.
Filming in the garden was lovely, i couldnt hear any background noise! Good for your Jim retiring! The world awaits!!!
PLEASE come view Hilton Head Island/Bluffton SC.......it is not Florida style, very low key. Beaches, golf, tennis (my favorite), bike trails, pickle ball, volunteering. We also get a small change of season. Lots of waterfront properties, golf views, marsh views. The best part is the wildlife you see, it was designed that you co-exist nature.
We actually visited Hilton Head Island 2 years ago (thinking retirement possibilities) and had a realtor send us houses in Bluffton for awhile. I have a video about our trip! That is still on our list of areas we like!
