      So glad to hear it! This is why I appreciate and buy LV. While not perfect, they stand behind their products by offering repairs. As long as it's authenticate, that's what counts. What if it was a gift or passed down. I think the repair costs they quoted you are pretty reasonable.

      Actually, it started having glazing issues in 2019 when I still lived in Illinois. It just wasn't bad enough at that time to make me want to replace it, knowing I would be getting the newer model. And during the move to Florida, I had all my bags in their dust bags, not the boxes and did not put them in storage with my furniture. (I even had them all in the car with me on the 3 day drive down here! Ha!) Also, when I denied the replacement, it was not a "now or never" situation. I asked my SA if I could think about it, and she said "absolutely".

      Issues is bag should have been exchanged when the offer was made. I don’t think keeping a leather piece on the zipper was worth all this.

    It’s very frustrating and certainly a difficult decision. I don’t know if I would invest any more money in this bag. I would probably count it as a loss and either be without the PM in my collection or maybe buy this particular bag, new, directly from LV, so if similar issues present in the future, they will replace it. All the options suck honestly but if you don’t like the repair, then you are stuck with the bag, without an option to refund the repair costs. 😢 So sorry you’re coming through this. I honestly feel your pain….🙏🏾

      @JustJennifer  3 місяці тому

      Thank you. I don't know if I made the right decision or not...but I am very curious to see how it turns out. If I really don't like it, for whatever reason, I have a better chance of selling it with all the new leather, glazing and new strap than I would if I didn't get the repair done.

  • @jvastare

    You are so gracious and handling this so well. I would be so upset and griping all the time. I dont mind if companies have 1 rule across the board saying they will not replace for free for anything not bought from store directly. and if preloved you have to pay for repairs. Period. However if one person gets free bag the other gets free repair and some needs to pay hefty repair costs for exact same probem? That is very discriminating policy. I cannot tolerate this. I even get very angry when people just steal things when I have to work hard, save to buy something. Unfair world. I hope your bag comes out beautiful. You deserve the best.

    They shouldn't charge for "repairs" when it was a LV manufacturing defect. I was a t that mall last year looking for a Gucci bag. The salesperson tried to push all the bags in the store although I told her exactly what I was looking for. Never going back. Maybe you could look at the new bags and get them from your store in Chicago. Nobody needs the aggravation specially when spending that kind of money. Hope the bag comes back just the way you like it Jen!

      I've always found the "in store" experience of looking for bags (LV, Hermes, Chanel, etc) to be awkward and uncomfortable! Even when everything works well, it just makes me so self conscious and I just hate it! I'm more likely to order a bag sight unseen and return it if it doesn't work for me after I've inspected it and tried it on in the comfort of my own home. Thank you!

    So frustrating, but like you I can see the business side of this and not wanting to encourage second hand sales. Glad you have a resolution that will at least make the bag useable! Thank you for talking about this because while many of us buy second hand in order score great deals on these bags, there are also people paying well over retail for sold out styles…it would be devastating to spend that kind of money but not be able to benefit from replacement/repairs if there was a recall or issue with the bag. Definitely something to consider.

      I was told that changing the side tabs would be an ordeal and would cost a lot. (I don't remember the total...) So, I thought I'd see what it looks like and then go ahead and have the side pieces replaced if it bothered me enough. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience at your local LV boutique. The only issue I've had with my boutique is my new SA didn't follow up as promised when I inquired about locating a bag. I don't tolerate bad customer service, especially at high-end stores, so I promptly called the manager and explained everything. She was very nice and very apologetic so I've contacted her ever since. I've bought 3 pieces over the past couple of years. I contact the boutique manager, provide her with the item number and she promptly has the item couriered to me within 2 hours. Unbelievable customer service! I hope you reported the manager you dealt with to someone above her. I look forward to your follow-up video!

    You handle this situation better than me. I was so stressed with mine and just wanted to cry when they said they would not replace mine too. Especially after the CA told me it was a known issue and that she is sure it will be replaced! But at the end of the day i realized that…it was just a bag! A silly little bag. They end up replacing my flap for free and did a canvas care i was quoted $510 (they didn’t charge me due to miscommunication) Also they lost my strap in the process so i got a brand new one. And yes the handle on top of mine is different color than the rest.

    Glad you’re getting it fixed. I would use this as a teachable moment for your store’s manager and let her know that she likely gave you bad info. How many others have been told wrong info as well? Maybe she was just confused about company protocols? Or maybe LV gives her autonomy to make these decisions and there are no rules for her to follow? If I was the manager I would want to know if my clients were having to go above my head to get things taken care of.

    I brought my PM brand new from the boutique in 2015 and I had the 3rd generation. The first one without the leather pull tab. In 2019 I noticed the glazing prob and took it to LV. I didn’t want a new bag because I too loved the canvas on my bag and it was a MIF bag❤❤. LV told me my bag couldn’t be fixed and they would give me a new bag. I got a new bag because at the time it was my fav handbag but the new one had the more pliable canvas and it wasn’t MIF 😭. I still have my old strap from my old bag and you can tell the difference. So sorry you have to jump through so many hoops to get your bag fixed. I hope everything works out. I still watch my new bag because I don’t want the edges on the flap to curl.

    I find that with any store and even with over the phone customer service it depends who you speak with. I had a similar experience with a gold bracelet I purchased that broke within 60 days. When I brought it to the location I purchased at they said sorry it’s over 30 days we can’t do anything. When I went to another location they offered to send it out and fix it. If I’m on the phone and don’t like the answer I get I call back and ask someone else and usually get a different response.

    Hello Jennifer! I had a similar experience with my Metis. It started off bad but ended well. I will link the video in case you will like to view it. LV ended up re-glazing the bag complimentary. I know how frustrating this process can be for sure! At the price they quoted you, me personally I would just re-purchase the bag at LV so that everything looks cohesive, new, and warrantied. What if you get this repaired then a year down the line, this glazing issue happens on the bottom/or another part of the bag? Will you be back at square one after you paid 1K+ to fix it? I would sell this Metis and get some of your money back (people buy them to repurpose them and make other things) and buy a new one from the boutique. You can also, ask them to replace the leather on the sides so that it will look cohesive with the new leather but the thing with that is, it will cost you more money and you risk having to do this all over again if another part of the bag does the same thing. Good Luck and I hope it all works out for you. Here is the link to my experience ua-cam.com/video/u1rMbjwYzS8/v-deo.html

    LV don’t stand behind their products, they only offer to sell parts for replacement with HEFTY PRICES. Refrain from purchasing big items like bags…etc. I only buy their SLG that made in FRANCE that said watch out for their design flaws as well. THE Alma BB has designs flaws-A friction at the METAL which hold long strap metal has rubbed against the handled and caused the glazing to completely peel- LV refused to repair the glazing but wanted me to replace the handle which will cost $600-700.

Money comes, money goes 😄. I am also very sure that they will NOT send back a very mismatched and strange looking bag back as it is their advertisement and reputation at stake!! I can't remember if you said the little leather pull tab will remain and if not, ask them if they can attach that same one back on your bag! I know you will be happy once you get your bag back!! 😀😃 ❤❤

    It is always a hit or miss with LV when it comes to repairs/replacements. I’d like to think know that I have a pretty decent history with Louis Vuitton and one would think that based off of that you would be treated accordingly. I went in to purchase a bag last summer ( Diane in Empreinte) and while there I made mention to my CA that my key pouch that had just made the one year mark was knotting up around the edges. He looked at it and agreed and told me $120 to repair it. I was floored because here I am spending $2900 with you and I have a pretty lengthy purchase history with LV. I expected him to replace the $350 pouch, not quote almost half to repair it. My sister on the other hand was able to get her Neverfull in empreinte replaced twice. Hit or miss. TFS.

    Such a bad experience. LV’s service is getting worse with time. I sent my wallet for repair because one slot of cards was sticky because of the glue, didn’t seem like a big deal but they replied it was unfixable and that’s that. The wallet is 5-6 years old 😡

    I just took in two LV bags that are 3 years old purchased new from boutiques with glazing issues and they refused to exchange the bags and said they stopped offering replacements in 2016. It feels really unfair, after spending thousands for new bags at the boutiques, I expect them to stand behind their products especially being only a couple of years old. 😢

      Were the bags you brought in with glazing issues Pochette metis' or other designs? That is awful that they are still selling bags with bad glazing as of 3 years ago after having to deal with this huge glazing issue since 2015, or so. I'm so sorry.

      @@JustJenniferthank you ! Also thank you for sharing your journey. The bags I took in were the Montsouris backpack in empreinte ( barely used and the glazing was peeling off while stored in dust bag ) and damier ebene Speedy ( glazing melted on handles ).
      I have a PM that I am checking every now and then because it seems like glazing issues are happening to bags while they are stored properly !
      I personally think if for around 1500$ you would be getting a like new PM it is better than selling it for cheap then buying a new one, however, I have heard that some bags come back from repair with new issues ( such as cracks in canvas ) so please keep that in ind and good luck on whatever you decide to do !

    Hi Jennifer, I hope you are doing well. Just finished watching and listening to your unfortunate experience with your bag. I'm wondering if the reason the manager shut you down was because the bag was purchased preloved. Even though it shouldn't make a difference, I feel it did. I believe some stores look down on when their items are not purchased from the store, and the feeling is if something goes wrong, why should we help you. It appears that was the attitude the manage had. But I'm glad you are able to get it repaired ❤.

    • @JustJennifer
      @JustJennifer  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi Lynnette. Yes, I'm sure being a pre-loved bag was definitely a factor in her response. However, the customer care people at LV all said the stores are supposed to send the bag in for evaluation, not just tell me it can't be done and leave me to deal with it on my own. I think of it this way, if you buy a used car and it has a manufacturing defect/recall, you can take it to a dealer and get it fixed. They don't just send you away and say it can't be done. Mostly, I'm just unhappy with how so many people with the same problem as me have had so many different solutions depending on who they spoke to and where. It is what it is though, and I'm happy I can get it repaired! ♥️

      @@JustJennifer Oh I completely agree with you. They should have the same protocol across the board, especially since this is a typical problem for this bag. Honestly, Jennifer, at that repair costs level, I would have asked the LV repair department for the replacement of ALL leather pieces except the tab you like so much. That way you would receive back an almost new bag with all leather pieces in the same light color, without patina. Is it too late to ask LV to add some small repair works?

    Hi Jennifer. I had the same issue with this bag a few years ago. I had bought it in Miami but then had moved to Nice, France, when this issue of the melting glazing started. I went to the boutique there, they asked me to leave it and that they will take a look at it and then let me know what to do with it. A few days later when I didn’t receive any call, I went to the store where they brought out the bag with a new reglazing done….which sadly wasn’t very neat. I was shocked that without asking me they had gone ahead and done that and it didn’t look great! When they realized my unhappiness they offered to give me a new one instead. I did take the new one but at the expense of giving up on the back zipper little leather piece as mine was from the “original” design. For some weird reason I haven’t used the newer version at all, maybe because I liked my original one and was disappointed with what they had done. They probably thought I was a tourist there and did the repair in a hurry sadly. I hope yours will be repaired in a better way. Can’t wait to see the results. Good luck!

      Wow, that is a very strange situation. I'm glad they offered you a new one, but I completely understand how that one isn't "the same" as your older version. I am concerned the canvas of the new flap won't match the older (possibly darker an thicker) canvas of the rest of my bag.... but we will see!

As for the store manager I would send an email complaint to head office as if they look at your records you've spent a fortune with them over the years and deserve better customer service going forward. Xx

      I was told that the flap that they are replacing comes with the leather already attached and they don't put old leather on new bags. I did end up (after calling them yet again and speaking to someone new) ordering all new leather AND they are attaching a leather zipper pull, as well. At extra cost, but at least it has a better chance of looking good and being more useable. If I truly don't like it in the end, I can sell it with the new leather, new glazing and new strap....whereas I could not have sold it for anything the way it was. Xx
