  • Aeroponic plant cloners are a great way to propagate stubborn plant cuttings. In this video I propagate some Katuk cuttings, using the Clone King 36 position cloner I get nearly 100% success where normally it's only around 50%.
    Here is a link to the cloner I use in the video: amzn.to/35DPS7F
    Clonex rooting solution: amzn.to/3fteRio

    When transplanting into soil/substrate I use the cardboard inner toilet paper tube as a sort of transplant shield for the delicate roots. Just place it in the pot as you’re adding in the soil. Put the clone into the tube & gently top up the soil all around the plant. Slide out the tube then water the new plant lightly & it’s done. Great informative video btw & a big thank you from a new subscriber

    I like except that the reservoir should be seperate potentially. Has potential for sure especially outdoors if your not doing a separate primary reservoir. cheap timers at Ace for the outlet can work. This would be fantastic for outdoor plants in the heat and love that you can water so many at once

    Is that an air compressor I hear in the background for an AAA setup by any chance?

    • @GardeningSolutions

      Not an air compressor, maybe some traffic. I live on a fairly busy road and not too far away is a canal that airboats use. It can get a little noisy at times :)

    Does the sprayer constantly spray water or is it automated?

    • @GardeningSolutions
      @GardeningSolutions  3 роки тому +2

      It runs constantly but you could have it intermittent as long as the cuttings stay moist.

    How often do you have to refresh the water inside the cloner?

      I change the water and nutrient (if used) for each batch of cuttings, rarely ever have to add water.

    Also, have you ever tried running seedlings in it? On/off times?

    • @GardeningSolutions

      I've used it to grow out seedlings for a hydroponic system and it worked well for that. As for running the pump intermittently, I haven't tried that but I have a friend doing it with a bucket system I made for him. We are growing similar plants and are going to compare results. He is using a timer that does 15 min on / 15 min off.

    • @afishl1
      @afishl1 4 роки тому

      Gardening Solutions so for your seedlings you have just left it on basically 24/7?
      Started seedlings in paper towel method and then transferred? Another method?

      @@afishl1 I used net cups with rockwool to start seeds for a hydroponic system. Yes, I leave mine running 24/7.

    How often would I add clonex to the CloneKing 35 cloning site kit? I've been growing for a few years but first year cloning. Thanks for any help

    I just got one of these, I have all kinds of cuttings in it testing it out. My grape cuttings have been in it for 4 days now, on all places that were cut, they have a light brown color forming over the cuts, I'm worried it's some kind of bacteria or rot already, Could you offer any insight?

    • @GardeningSolutions
      @GardeningSolutions  3 роки тому +2

      I'd give it more time, may take a couple of weeks to start showing roots. As long as the upper portion looks healthy (above the collar ring) then they may be fine.

    • @WeaverFamilyFarms
      @WeaverFamilyFarms 2 роки тому +1

      @@jasoncosby8363 the grapes did not end up working on this, however I did successfully clone my grape vine using air laying. I got some of the air layering pods from Amazon and did an air layering right in middle of summer. Keep inside the pod moist and in about 6 to 8 weeks the pod was full of roots, I cut it off the parent vine and planted it in a pot and it’s doing well.

    do you have to put the cloner in the sunlight

    • @GardeningSolutions
      @GardeningSolutions  3 роки тому

      Just the opposite, you want to keep it shaded. Indirect sunlight is best, direct sun will cook and dry out the clippings.

    The main reason I'd prefer a bubbler as opposed to a sprayer is that the sprayer's submersible pump requires a live wire going into the water, which presents a major electrocution risk if there is the slightest nick in that electrical wire's insulation or any internal fault in the pump. Live current and water is a lethal mix, potentially.

    • @GardeningSolutions
      @GardeningSolutions  3 роки тому

      These are plugged into GFI circuits so any fault should trip it. I also don't put my hand into the water in the reservoir while plugged in. I haven't tried it with a bubbler but might give it a shot.

    • @robertthrem3382
      @robertthrem3382 2 роки тому +1

      You can buy a grown fault extension cord or plug it into a ground fault reciprocal but since you bring it up they have these pumps with the sprayer both

    I've used the same prototype on a 64 clone cloning machine just like that one and you could just take the cuttings and stick them in there you don't need any root powder or food for them whatsoever. Just a good fluorescent or LED light over the top. I've gotten roots in 4 days before. Have used it over and over and over again. The only thing I don't like is do cats get clogged up and it screws up the sprayers about every cycle which isn't a big deal but if they just had some sort of a filter like you see on a vacuum cleaner, some sort of a sponge type of filter it would prolong the life of the pump and the sprayers as well and it would also keep algae out of the water. A few times I even put two clo es per hole and had 100% success everything. Whatever size that'll fit in the hole will root. It's crazy.
