You guys covering one piece? Hell yea.
It looks rad regardless.
Even the non inked looking parts look really incredible.
12:15 definitely Naruto was HUGE at one point. I remember kids wearing ninja headbands daily in highschool in San Diego.back in 09
FYI if you are super deep into ONE PIECE and okay with reading chapter descriptions before publication, Typically a raw translation and description of the latest chapter will come out by Wednesday, most of the panels are out by Friday and the done chapter is typically out floating around the seven seas days before it’s published depending on how soon they start translating. I have read every chapter early for the past year this way. I love it enough that there’s no spoilers just more story !
That chapter was a flashback with emotion, so when I first read it I thought the pencil-shading and rough linework was intentional. Like a vignette effect. So it kind of worked.
I knew someone else was going to point out that this was flashback. Series has been running for too long for people not to know in a way, but it's funny how we've been so conditioned by the series to know that when this happens, we instantly know where we're at in a way.
Also 100% agree that the pencils actually feel intentional since it's a flashback. Curious if anyone may use this moving forward for their way to do flashbacks.
Does cartoonist kayfabe read one piece? I would be interested in having you both look into the series as it's peak shonen. Oda is a beast and only ever pauses for medical issues or golden week.
This exact thing happened in the series Jujutsu Kaisen by Mangaka Gege a couple years ago. The work submitted there was literally rough pages and extremely sketchy almost no solid lights
I’d be interested to see you go through the whole issue of Shonen Jump and see which artists jump out to you.
This isn't an uncommon occurrence in original magazine publications. In terms of Weekly Jump the most infamous example was Yoshihiro Togashi's (Yuyu Hakusho) unfinished manuscripts for Hunter x Hunter during the mid 2000's.
I’ve definitely seen previous panels OP & others w/ quite rough sketches. Their work loads R ridiculous, no complaints
haha funny, when I saw it I screengrabbed it too
As a One Piece fan, this video made me so happy.
I had that same El Gigante WCW card (Giant Gonzales in WWF) you usung as a place holder 😂 awesome
I don’t think the digits edition has been uploaded yet. At least this chapter on the Shonen jump app hasn’t
Cant watch this one due to sppilers but please cover more one piece!
You can listen to it, if you want. There are no spoilers in the audio. I suspect that neither of the Kayfabe guys read One Piece because they didn't comment on the story at all, they were only commenting on the art. The reason they selected this specific chapter for review was because Oda posted a message apologizing for this chapter, saying that the art for that chapter was slightly unfinished. So the video is mostly the 2 Kayfabe guys complimenting how good the art looks despite being supposedly 'unfinished', and them pointing out a few artistic things (like instead of inking the panels, some panels just used clean pencil line art - and instead of using crosshatching to shade things, pencil shading was used to shade things).
The man still is recovering from an eye surgery, give him a break.
