However in this movie, all the sensual Cuban music and sun really sets the mood, along with the amazing bond these two created on screen
I agree 100% Dirty dancing will always be iconic, but Baby and Johnny were so off as a couple. Jennifer Grey looked way too young for Patrick Swayze even tho their age gap wasn't that big (both irl and in the movie) and her character was too imature for Johnny.

Plus this film is unrelated to the events of the first film so I can continue to see them as separate entities without one affecting the other.

i prefer this over the first one. the first ones ok, i like it too but after seeing this i find the dance routine on the first one a little innocent, and not as sensual as diego and romola's dance

Tbh I don’t think katey’s parents was exactly angry when watching katey dance but when they see katey &Javier kiss I think that sets them off as they feeling humiliated. For James obviously he’s shocked by katey dance moves but also that he got the message she wasn’t interested in him in the first place
Isabella the movie happens in the late 50's and interracial relationship were not commun nor fully accepted. She's a rich girl american girl, he's poor and cuban. They think he wants to take advantage of her and disagreed with the 2 of them hanging together.

He's a Cuban of Spanish (Spain) descent, and she's an American girl of (idk maybe Irish or British descent). But you are correct. Back then, people frowned upon intercultural relationships, which is pretty sad. This happens in modern times as well. My family, even though they're quiet about it, would be a bit disappointed if I date someone who isn't Latin-European (or of such descent) or someone who isn't European. They view most Americans as being uncultured, which is not true at all.
I feel like everybody in her circle at the contest, is honestly jealous that they don't have the balls to dance like that... There's only one way I'm going to dance, with passion and love for the art itself. hands down, everybody prefers sexy dancing over boring stiff foxtrot any day
