Glad you enjoyed flying in my part of the world. It's a fantastic coast to fly along.
+The Flying Reporter I'm very jealous! Mostly because of the variety of airfields to visit! There's not much variety where I am.
Ben, what can i say ive been watching you from the start and the progression of your channel has been incredible, they are now extremely professional and your skills have also immensely improved. So all i can really say is keep up the amazing work and well done.
+Kieron Emmett Kieron thanks a lot, it's strange watching my old videos back now - it seems like such a long time ago!
This is great to see! I live on the Isle of Wight and have just started my PPL at Sandown airport!
Excellent video. Really enjoyed watching a trip once done by myself decades ago.Thank you (and the flying reporter) for these vids.
Huge fan Ben, really admire your piloting skills. Thanks for sharing.
One leg of my solo cross country in 1996, had a milk and Mars bar in the Shoreham terminal .... great memories, thank you for posting..
Thanks for the video Ben! Very good use of camera's, especially the one looking at the instruments and over the nose! Really gives me the feeling if being there! Audio is also perfect! many thanks.... greetings from the Netherlands!
Ben, just found the videos - nice work. The structures in the Solent are Lord Palmerston's Forts; late 19th century forts to protect the important natural harbour at Portsmouth. Considered a bit of a folly, they were never really used in anger. Remarkable structures though, worth a visit. Some of them are now luxury hotels, popular with stag dos and corporate events.
I live down south right by lee on Solent airfield and it’s nice to see that you enjoyed flying down south. Ive lived here all my life so I’m used to it lol.
Fabulous stuff Ben. The forts in the Solent you saw were built to fend off Napoleons troops. Sandown was the home of a real hero Mary Ellis. One of the wartime ferry pilots. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did watching.
Excellent. Audio & Video 9.9/10 (nobody's perfect). Thank you for letting us watch :-)
As ever brilliant video! thanks Ben
+Brian Tinkler cheers Brian!
Awesome mate thanks for sharing ! I'm about to start my ppl from shoreham and the isle of white will definitely be one of the first trip with the family!!!
+Romain sotoca there's so many good airfields to fly too down there, good luck with your training!
Love this. Definitely on my list of places to visit when I get my license!
+Stuart Walsh it was awesome! Thank you for watching!!
Damn MSFS looks so realistic!
Love it! Brilliant music choice and editing
+CaptainHawk you're an inspiration, Captain.
Hey Ben, loved this video mate, probably because it was in my neck of the woods! Sundown was actually the first aerodrome I landed at outside of Goodwood, but watching you fly around the south coast brought back all sorts of memories from my PPL training. Brilliant stuff, keep it up!
By the way that would've been a Royal Navy ship in the dock at Portsmouth, I couldn't see which one however but there are a number of Navy vessels down there usually.
Very nice! Some stunning scenery along the south coast
+CharlieClass156 cheers Charlie! It was so cool flying down the south coast!!
+CharlieClass156 cheers as always, Charlie!
Awesome!
This video reminds me of my flight to Bembridge 10 years ago. The quality of your videos are amazing compared to mine back then. Great channel Ben! will definitely subscribe.
+FlyingBassMan thanks a lot for watching, I'll have to try Bembridge next time!
Awesome video mate, I really learn a lot from your videos and always love your enthuasime . Liked
+MilesHigh thanks James!
This looks great, I'm looking at finishing off my licence at Shoreham and want this to be one of my first flights after I get it!
Another great video Ben
+stue b17 thanks a lot!
Another great one Ben, keep it up👍🏼
+Stuart The Pilot thanks a lot, Stuart!
Another great video Ben I did plan a quick return trip over to the Isle of Wight by the Hovercraft (never been on one before) during my last UK visit, I flew into Southampton from Jersey and my pre-paid taxi arrived over 2 hours late due to the first one had a crash on-route, as I had to catch a train later in the day to go up north I never made it across.
+bravohotel100 hovercraft sounds awesome! Thanks a lot for watching.
Very nice video Ben chilled half and hour there nice one pal
+richard turner thanks for watching!
Glorious scenery there Ben, what a day to be flying!
+Nick T thanks Nick, it was SO hot!
Plane Old Ben hah! I feel your pain! I flew over to Caernarfon for the weekend a few weeks back, got chronic sunburn whilst there and then had to fly back the next day and 'enjoy' the good old PA28 cockpit on one of the hottest days of the year with arms that felt like they were on fire.
Wouldn't have changed it for the world 😉
Welcome to my part of the world haha. You earned a subscriber!
I used to fly out of Shoreham 74-76 with a Rollason Condor
lovely.......next flight please!!!!!.....the lady passenger is very quiet!!!!
Great vid and from my local airport too - Brighton International lol
+Darren A it's a great airfield!
Hi,
I really like your video. Can i ask you what kind of application or program did you use on your tablet (or any device).
Could you give me advice which one is the most useful for you (for example for the weather, IFR, navigation...etc)
thank you so much
Hello Ben, your videos are absolutely spot on. Some years ago I did some flying lessons on the Warrior and got close to soloing, but medical reasons and cost prevented me from going any further. That was almost twenty years ago. However I now just fly flight sim at home which is almost as good and I love it. I am actually doing a 'virtual PPL' course on the PA28 which includes practice ATC - and you real life videos are an absolute inspiration to me -. Actually my home is not far from Shoreham. Cheers.
+DENNIS HICKMAN hi Dennis! Thank you for the comment, I'm really pleased to hear you're enjoying doing your flight simming! You should have a look at the LAPL I believe the medical requirements are less for that nowadays.
That sounds interesting I will certainly have a look at that. Not sure about my age though - I am a very fit 84 years old - don't tell everyone!
OK I will certainly look into that. thanks for the suggestion, Ben.
hi Ben just came across your video prior to my introductory flying lesson at coventry EGBE. Very nice flight , i hope my flight runs as smooth as yours, will be watching more of your video's cheers. Dean
+dean johnson good luck with your trial lesson!
Plane Old Ben Thanks Ben I'm really looking forward to it cheers
Looked like a beautiful day! Also looked like you kept the P1 "Air conditioning system" open a bit longer and I would have done the same! :P :D
+RMAviation haha it was so hot!!
Very Nice ;O)
+Gez B thank you!
Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander's are built at Isle Of Wight and very scenic location :)
+Michael Miklos nice fact, didn't realise that!
Very good ATC work :)
First! Lucky timing :D
+Mattyp502 haha thanks for watching!!
no worries, just starting the vid now tho as I dont want to watch on 360p, need to see your "beautiful" face in full hd :P
Looked pretty busy down there, but gorgeous flying conditions, looked a fab trip.
didn´t know you get this good weather in the U.K
First time we have seen a long period of good weather for years.
+Andrew Wenzel I had to buy it!
Some great videos Ben, good to see a fellow pilot enjoying the freedom of GA. Just a quick spot, did you take off with flaps up?
+Andrew Tottey thanks Andrew. I don't often use flaps in the PA28 unless it's a short field take off, they get you off the ground sooner but your climb out is slower so I'll only use them if they are definitely required.
What is a "basic service"? For this yank. Thanks
+gunsaway1 it's where air traffic control give you weather information or can answer questions you have - but they don't provide any traffic information.
Thanks. Enjoyed the video
As an FAA and EASA PPL holder, Basic Service is effectively what we know as Flight Following although as Ben said, unless you ask for a Traffic Service, they don't have to give you any advisories. We don't have the Radar coverage or control towers like in the states!
She is very attractive. Nice flight though!
It's always was and always will be Shoreham Airport circa 1910. Brighton City, I don't think so.
