@@squarecircle2347 You do realize that from the first time the perpetrator struck the door until he broke the door and was shot it was less than 25 seconds right, and in that 25 seconds he was told to leave the property twice, called by name and told "NO" twice, and warned that the father was armed once, before he was shot. The guy never responded, never spoke, never gave any indication of acknowledgement of any interaction. He didn't even slow down. Nothing more could have been done, because he was already through the door. Do some research on this case and see what he did to the door alone will show you his intent, and he did that with the dad, who out weighed him by 60+ pounds behind it.

IF he got in, yes do what you have to do, but him trying to bust into a front door, you have police on the phone, run out the back door!!! Any normal person would understand the first time you tell them NO to just drop it and stop bothering…but that doesn’t exactly work the same way for a narcissist does it? It doesn’t matter if it is 1 time or even 65 times, they will do “whatever they want to do” because the rules don’t apply to them. Oh but don’t worry, they have no issues setting rules for everyone else (especially if it means to tailor another person’s behavior to get whatever they want).

@Let the flames takeover It's an interesting point. In some cultures it might work. But in USA he is in his home and the young man is trying to break the door down after being explained the situation and told to leave. And to follow your logic if he goes out he puts his own life and that of his family in danger. Obviously, the young man is deranged. Maybe you watch too many tv shows where stuff like that works and is all tidy by a nice walk and talk or you live in a more civil society where there is gun control. Plus, there is probably history here and they know about him and were in serious fear of their lives. That's what keeps people from breaking into homes in USA fear of getting shot. And even then not always. If they are coming thru there is a chance they are armed and dangerous. Point of No Return happens. It's crazy, I know. But we don't live in a civil society.

"The circumstances of their split" are irrelevant. The sister, while I understand her sibling motivation to defend her brother, needs to get a clue. There are zero good intentions in someone trying to force themselves into someone else's home, especially after being told multiple times to leave. The old adage "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" applies.

If you can't take a breakup, then don't date. The guy was a narcissist. He wanted to force her to love him. Narcissistic people can't stand rejection, and some times it costs them their life. Many times they become killers.
