Back in 2002, a low volume low profit manufacturer called #Porsche took a risky move in a bid to become a bigger player in order to save the company and fund bigger and better sports cars: creating the Porsche #SUV, the Cayenne. And now almost two decades later: the Cayenne has been one of the key sales successes of Porsche, funding the creation of bonkers things like the 918 Spyder Hypercar - a car that set the direction for every hybrid since, including today’s car - The all new facelift #Cayenne S E Hybrid!
The new Cayenne is here, and it’s now much sharper looking outside, and has had a huge upgrade in its interior. More crucially, the Hybrid Version has seen some great improvements that should make living with it even better. The New Cayenne has improved hugely in general terms too, when it comes to power units on offer.
Firstly our previous V6 Cayenne S gets upgraded to a full on V8, much like the GTS and turbo. It’s more powerful than the V6 at 474PS, and obviously brings a lot more emotion to the table. It’s also nice and light at 2160KG!
There’s a model below this with the standard Cayenne, which has a V6 with 350HP. This also serves the basis for the Cayenne E hybrid base model! Speaking of hybrid, our car today is the mid point. In-between E Hybrid and Turbo E, it has a revised 3.0 V6 turbo engine with: 353 HP and an 176 HP electric motor. Together the system makes 519 HP, 750 Nm, and 0-60 in 4.5 secs. What’s more impressive is the Electric Range of 90km, which is a massive increase over the previous which only had 48km range!
Much of this is also thanks to the new electric engine, not only do we have more power but it also recuperated up to 88kw as low as 2kmph! The battery is also now a 25.9kw unit, and can be charged fully in 2.5 hours
Check out my other video for the Turbo E Hybrid - the more powerful cayenne ever at 739BHP - way more than the 680 BHP predecessor. Thanks to a reworked V8 in that new hybrid system! And I also drive the GT package version, which is Porsches epic workaround to not being able to have the turbo Gt in some major markets. Link to this is below:
    • 2023 All-New Cayenne T...
The Design upgrade on the facelift is big too! Large arched wings, sharper bonnet and body lines. Much more defined rear with greater break up of body parts, and my fave bit: the super sharp matrix lights! The rear is much more sporting, taking a lot of cues from Macan’s sportier character. A Coupe is available once again too, and this model can option a lightweight sports package saving up to 33 kilograms.
Interior upgrades are even bigger, with Taycan inspired large screens on the dashboard. The Driver Zone one is a curved display with a new operating system, and thus all new driver zone screens! These are much better designed than before, and feature more display options like the 5 circles of the 911. The 12.3 inch screen in the middle is the new PCM system with smartphone style UX. Porsche are also apparently the first manufacturer to incorporate new CarPlay features - but I couldn’t deduce what those were on this first drive. Of course, you can also now option a passenger screen too.
Will the V6 convince as a daily alternative to the EV onslaught? And can it hope to bring some of the emotion that made the Turbo E so fun to drive? Let’s find out today!

Nah, the '23 model was the last year of the previous gen. While the facelift is growing on me, I actually prefer the look of the previous gen's teardrop headlights.
Also mine has the analog tach and center console gear shifter.

It all depends what you need. I had Panamera 4S e hybrid, and the car was amazing. Personally i like to move in the traffic jam with EV mode, and if you are in the mood to drive fast, the car is very responsive 560hp and 3,7-100kmh, it consumed arround 5l/100km. I am also an owner of 992 Turbo S, but even you sit in Panamera after 911, hybrid never feels slow because of low end torque, but when i tested Cayenne S V8 on low rpm it is not that responsive and also during same testing phase we noticed that on the same track and same pace e hybrid consumed 10l and S V8 was 22l. So as i say it depends on the situation. I don’t like EV cars, but i like PHEV, but maybe thats just me.

I have the new base Cayenne coupe e-hybrid. One thing you did not touch upon is fuel consumption. For my first 1000 or so kms with the car, average fuel consumption has been 2.4 l/100 km. Mostly city driving and short highway trips in electric mode of course, but not bad for a big SUV.

I like the new updated model and I drove the e-hybrid and it felt great but I don’t know why no one is talking about the change to the interior colors on the seats. Why has #porsche chosen to have a black middle backseat when you want a different seat color than black. sometimes hard to discern 100 percent of your feelings,, almost as if you were to say something 'bad' that Porsche or whoever wouldn't let you have their car for a review. For instance here,, is the weight penalty more important than picking up the S version, or even the base model and giving it more pedal to make up for the lesser amount of power. MY experience is that with suv's that when you live in a mountainous or winding road area, that weight is so important,,, having to take every curve or up and down with hundreds of kilos of extra mass.

Nice video except for the fact that you rather glossed over its electric-only driving when you actually drove the car. Why blur out the instrument screen when driving it? I'd like to see a close-up camera showing what's going on in electric-only or hybrid modes. People are not buying this car for performance; they are buying it to have an EV for local driving but without having to worry about range anxiety. As a Panamera E-Hybrid owner, I can tell you that most people with E-Hybrids try to keep the ICE from coming on, rather than being eager to use it. People who want to focus on the V6 won't get an E-Hybrid. It would have been nice if you actually did an all-electric range test, both at speeds < 45 mph (where it's intended to be used in E-Power only) and at speeds > 45 mph (when it's intended to be used in any mode except E-Power, unless for short distances).

Pure money-making marketing shite: you first detune your V6 base engine before you turn it into a base e-hybrid and then you bring that same V6 back up to its original output, slap the e-motors and battery on it and call it an e-hybrid "S"...

Unpopular opinion, V6s are the nicest natural sounding engines. Regardless of the application, it will sound good.

Flabbergasted by all these incompetent comments about a Porsche where the quality and feel of the interieur is absolutely HORRIBLE. Just received my 2024 Cayenne Hybrid, my 4th Cayenne and I have 10 Porsches running.
The price tag was 153.000€.......What happened at the Porsche Interior department ???
The interior looks like a cheap Skoda or Opel. Way too much and totally unacceptable cheap, cold, dull plastic.
Look at the door handle, they probably couldn't find anything cheaper, this dull plastic handle is total shambles and totally unacceptable for a car of this price range, the underside is HOLLOW......Have you ever.....The steering wheeling looks totally CHEAP with kitchy plastic like it was bought from Microsoft where they use it on their car simulators. Furthermore it isn't electrically adjustable......only manual, so no steering wheel adjust when choosing a programmed seating position.
Have they gone senile at Porsche ? Hey design team : I paid 153.000 € for this RIP OFF.....
The gear lever is invisible from the drivers position as it interferes with the windshield wiper controls, looks like a knob on your expresso machine and it is not lighted at night......What's happening at Porsche ? All the rest of the knobs, like the seat adjustments and window operation (all dull, black plastic) are totally unfit and unacceptable for a car of this price level.
The rear seat bench looks like a plank......the back seat in my daughters Beetle has better seating.
I am totally GUTTED by this unacceptable CHEAPO interior and what is the netting doing on the back of the seats ? Just barely worthy for a French car of the seventies.
This 2024 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid is a total waste of money and after having driven Porsches for over 40 years I am , rightfully, deeply disappointed by this totally substandard, biblically DULL interior.
Shame on you Porsche Design Team. I'm very, very disappointed, what a waste.

My feelings exactly. My love story of many years with the brand is coming to an end as well. It's like the company is being run by a bunch of Martin Shkreli's who have decided to test how far they can go in fleecing their customers out of their (sometimes) hard-earned money before it starts showing in their sales figures. Putting almost anything that should come standard on an almost €120.000 car, on the options list and then blatantly over-charging for it. A dealer network and after-sales service which demonstrate that same arrogant demeanour: we are Porsche and we have built cars for more than 75 years so the customer is always wrong and he will get some expensive service if and when we decide he can get some. Playing exactly the same game with people who want to buy one of its halo cars as that other haughty car brand with a prancing horse in its logo: how many hoops can we let our customers jump through before they turn away in disgust ? And if they don't, they clearly don't care about how much money they are spending and that's exactly the kind of customer we want. And for selling our volume cars which bring in the real money, we can always depend on those badge fetishists who are eager to spend good money on the four cylinder entry level cars in combination with Porsche stickers, crests, logos and other puddle light projectors. And you are absolutely right about the quality of some of the materials that Porsche uses in its interiors these days. They do not stand the test of time and are not what a loyal customer expects at this price level. The amount of plastic used in its top-of-the-line models is staggering but it's not because a large part of your customer base is willing to pay through the nose to have almost anything wrapped in leather, that you should cheap out on some of the standard materials you use. But Porsche must have noted that the other premium German brands are getting away with that so why not cut some corners there as well ? Porsche still fabricates a rather well-made product but shamelessly exploiting its bygone motorsports heritage to cut corners, fleece and disrespect loyal customers and dilute the brand, is where it stops for me. I am starting to wonder whether Porsche's "Exclusive Manufaktur" rather means "Exalted Manure" these days....

I will never go back to petrol or hybrid. My Tesla is extremely cheap to run and own, quicker than most cars, very nice on long trips where it drives itself for 99% of the time, and the range is longer than my bladder can take. So, no…EV it is for me.
