I bought an extra rotary cutter just for cutting paper and cardboard I use for patterns. Complete game changer. I am so glad I had not thrown out my old blades because they are still useable with paper. I originally saved the used blades because I was worried about injuries taking out the trash, or people and critters digging through trash.
When my used blades become too worn for paper l plan to chop them up for safe disposal.

After all these years, I still tend to run into the plastic straight edge. This is why I go through blades quickly, and it's so frustrating. On Amazon, I paid extra for a blade that is supposed to be more durable. But it was not.
I think I will try out the 60 mm blade that you're showing here. Maybe I will have an easier time with that since I cut mostly in straight lines

Help! I have a Fiskars 60mm. It skips on the fabric. Doesn't matter if I have a singIe piece of fabric or folded over. I bought a brand new blade. I made sure the nut is not to tight. I flipped my mat. I have the appropriate ruler. I swear I'm cursed. Do you have any suggestions? I figured it out. I bought 2 more blades and changed it and one of them is good. So, I have 2 blades that don't work. No more fiskars blades for me.

As long as you take good care of them (store them flat, don't expose them to extreme temperatures, move around the mat as you cut things) you should be able to keep them for a long time. I'm still using the same one I got twenty years ago.
Store it flat and keep it clean. Also, don't leave it in the sun for hours. Unless it gets really abused, the mat will probably outlive you.

Can I cut the 2 mm thick fabric with this cutter

So every video I watch assumes I know this, but I don't. Does the blade rotate along the cut or is it stationary? Does the blade move, roll when you make the cut? Or does the nut hold it firmly in place? Thanks for an honest answer.
The blade rotates, hence it being called a rotary cutter! It's basically like a pizza cutting wheel, if you're familiar with those.

Reason I need a rotary cutter? I can't cut straight no matter how hard I try 😆
I seem to not be able to give enough pressure because it cuts just small pieces everytime. with not cut in between ( I have a disability but that's why this would be so neat instead of scissors). I already tried different rotary cutters but same with each one :(
I have a disability, too, (general weakness) and I have trouble with rotary cutters except for short, straight cuts, only 2 layers of no-stretch fabric. I don't know if they would help for you, but I've found Kai fabric scissors are amazing. They cut through 6 layers (maybe more) of quilting cotton like butter, whereas I had trouble opening my Ginghers, which caused pain and hand fatigue with extended use. Kai are pricey but so worth it IMO, and you can find coupon codes. I have the bent handle Professional series 7205. They are 8" but shorter cut length than my 8" Ginghers.

Have you tried an electric fabric cutter? I'm not sure how they work, but I've seen quilters use it to eat through stacks of fabric like it was nothing. Even complex shapes!
@@thaliacrafts407 Hi Thalia ! Yes! I tried them too. I had some very old ones that were fabulous. But they finally broke and since then I have bought 3 pairs and all of them lasted just a few weeks, even the expensive ones of 200 dollar !
Try putting a 5 lb weight on the far end of the ruler if you can handle it, it will really help with keeping the ruler in place and saving your strength for cutting as you won’t need as much pressure on the ruler. This is how Donna Jordan and her husband of Jordan Fabric and Quilts do it. They have a fabric shop and he spends his days cutting fabric by hand.

oh no! I'm always worried that's going to happen to me and then just yesterday, I sliced my finger on a pair of scissors sooooo....I have to be careful with everything.
