Dude, thank you for your channel so much. So many AE tutorials just repeat the same info but because of your videos I'm able to add so many tools to my arsenal!
interesting tip for you, Ben. If you're doing lots of colorful gradient stuff, when you're changing the project's colour settings, tick the box that says "blend colors using 1.0 gamma". It produces a result as if your colors had been blended linearly and can sometimes look more desirable
Simply the best channel for beginner to intermediate After Effects afficionados! Keep the good work man. The format, the tone, the explanations and all are perfect...
Hi ben, I was playing with this effect and i ended up making a crazy background... when you make this gradient background go and create an adjustement layer and add a Hue and saturation effect then check the colorize box.. then the magic happens.. you will have a cool wavy background... thank you so much for your tutorials and congrats for reaching 100K..
I've been using AE for 15 years and you taught me 2 new buttons (and a complete skill I should have already known by now) in the first two minutes. BRA-VO, sir!
Following your tutorials gives me daily structure to practice outside of my video job! It's super friendly, relaxing, and informative. Plus your style is AMAZING, so I know I'm in good hands! Thanks so much for the constant flow of tutorials.
I love your content, I've been stagnated in a job in which I don't learn anything new (for two years now) and lately, thanks to you, I'm learning new stuff again!
Sat for the whole tutorial even after I learned what I needed - made me laugh with the grocery bag analogy. May the algorithm bless you and your channel, sir.
@5:17 when you double click the mask, I usually just hit "ctrl+t" or "cmd+t" to go into that mask transform mode. Just to be safe I don't accidentally click on the wrong thing if there's a lot of masks/layers in my comp. It's always my quick safe mouse-free way to immediately select an entire mask in order to drag it around, rotate it, scale it, etc.
I love this! Thank you for showing me a different method for adding gradients to a shape. The fill gradient in the shape tool makes me want to pull my freaking hair out!
Ahh, thank you for this awesome tutorial! I like how you made everything clear and straight-forward! For future videos, would it be possible if you went over a full tutorial for everything in the animation like the ripple effect or how you made him float? I'm not familiar with all the tools of AE yet so it is a challenge for me to figure everything out. Thanks again!
You are my favorite youtuber right now. I've been consistently going through each one of your videos. All incredibly unique and super duper helpful for beginners just starting out with AE. Thanks Ben, you've got a long time subscriber on-board.
Again, I guess I'll never thank you enough for this, but it seems like I'm not the only one to appreciate it so much ! Plus, who thought I'd laugh watching an AE tutorial, perfect ! :D
To avoid banding effects in gradients you can also add some noise/grain over it, it will "smooth out" the banding. This can be useful when you need to stay in 8-bit or 16-bit for some effects or limited export settings.
Consistently releasing tutorials that are actually helpful. You are easily my favorite youtuber right now.
This is for sure the number 1 AE tuts right now
Thank you so much! :D I'm so glad you're finding these helpful :)
Same here. They're delivered so well. Keep it up bro!
IKR!!!

That's awesome. Thank you so much for watching, I'm really glad you dig them :)
We don't deserve you. Thanks again for all the help!
The derp on the face
Love it
Haha, I'm all about that derp now
This is actually a really clever way to do it. I've been using just ai layers for years and years, never bothering to actually do it in ae, until now.
Yeah I find the gradient tool in Illustrator so much harder.
I just wanted to know how to make a basic gradient, but I learned so much more.

Tanks so much! Amazing tip :d
Nice tutorial, thanks! I usually don't like when tutors try to be funny instead of just teaching but you're actually funny. Keep them coming!
Haha, thank you so much!! :)

P.S. Do you have a video that goes over that super smooth ripple effect? I trip over those a lot.
