I think I can explain a bit why the red Seadra appears in the right corner after the battle plays a random song and soft locks the game. All that was done was replacing Cara’s glitch trainer class with a valid one so the game wouldn’t crash if you tried to initiate a battle. It is the way the end of the battle is handled that is the problem. Cara lacks a victory sequence at the end. In a battle with a valid trainer after you beat them they appear in the right corner standing there and award you money, Cara due to being a glitch trainer completely lacks this. The game realizes that it has to piece together some sort of victory sequence so it attempts to have the last Pokémon that battled for Cara initiate the victory sequence instead, but since the game was never meant to have a Pokémon appear after winning against any trainer in the game, it has no idea how to handle it and instead of awarding poke dollars for a victory it freaks out and soft locks. As for why the seadra is red it is not because it fused with a random sprite in game, as red is a primary color and cannot be created by simply fusing together the main color of two random sprites. I think it may be a consequence of the game being forced to run in game boy mode, as it already has a tendency to change colors in game, and have a color be the complete opposite of what it is meant to be in certain cases.
The Seadra is red because Cara is actually an Ace Trainer in Blackthorn City's Dragon's Den; the red Seadra actually has the color palette of the female Ace Trainer.
Well, the victory sequence being borked is likely due to there not being one, which just means it'll pull and unrelated location in memory and have that start running, which apparently immediately switched the textbox from "display text" mode to "execute commands" mode, thus resulting in the slurry of random sound bites before something goes horribly wrong.

The one that always sends shivers down my spine is Ariados who, after attaching silk to its prey, lets them go, then follows the silk to not only its prey, but its friends and family too.

I know glitch city was probably from just a glitch now but when I was younger I was so fascinated by it because I couldn't understand why it happened and what it was. I used to think it held so many secrets and I was partly right.
What if there were plans to make a female firebreather class? She clearly reuses the name and party of Ace Trainer Cara, so they must have been cut early in development, but it makes more sense to me then what you proposed. I still like your theories about her tho.
If what I know about these early Pokemon games is accurate, there really is no actual lore to this "character"; she's not a person, she's a glitch, a line of code the game didn't know how to read so it interpreted said code as a hybrid fire breather/dragon's den trainer that only appears when the game is already struggling to interpret a bunch of other garbage data. Same thing with MissingNo., actually,.
I wonder if this is the same mysterious Cara from the show Pokemon journeys D&P , it was way later in diamond and pearl generation but this could be an early concept of her
this is probably tied to some engine limitation or dev zone meant to make development easier, this happens in some games where devs like to create spaces inside the game itself to poke their heads into and test stuff out, so my best guess is that the devs were probably using the girl for bug testing hence all the crashing, the bugs and the weird detection. The use of a name and possible lore I image is probably the result of the devs making up a story to liven things up
I mean, glitch city isn't really a place you go to, it's a game state. you could perform all kinds of glitches to induce the same memory bug in some other location, and see something completely different, as it's really just a state that glitches out the tile data of wherever you happen to be.
10:37 Celebi being the culprit would actually make more sense than Hypno. Because Celebi is basically the star of the secret event. I wonder what Glitch City actually looks like with the Celebi event version
Learning about unintentional spooky glitches in video-games is really interesting. As Notch once said "It really shows how little control a content producer has over the content"
fun fact: most of the objects on this map do not appear on real hardware (including the glitch city ghost) so basically the glitch city ghost is an emulation inaccuracy
Maybe she was a very young trashed water gym leader cause it said "leader cara" I made a theory! : Maybe she was the young water leader she was having a break after a long day of fighting she found a (celebi I think? ) she thought it was pretty and tried to touch it and she went back in time she went to the tower to seek trainers but all of a sudden the tower got struck by lightning and she was burnt to ashes
I have an idea, maybe the fire breathers killed her so she burned to ashes, her soul went back to her home in search for her mother, she screams out for her lost in glitch city, but as she is not in her home town but rather a fragmented memory of what it was, she can never actually connect to her mother
I think if she died in the fire it wasn’t time travel, I think it’s more likely that the girl and the mother both died in the fire with the mother trying to save the girl but the mother is still looking, even in death, for her daughter But that’s just a theory… A game theory
In pokèmon Pearl there is a graveyard full of people saying depressing things like "this pokèmon made me and my boyfriend meet" There is also a ghost girl in the abounded house in the forest, You can tell she is a ghost because is you look at her feet they don't move, you have to go into the room right next to the last one in one of the hallways, The house looks burnt so there might have been a fire that house, I think the gym leader (the grass type trainer) talks about ghost who rome around (after you fight her again after you beat the champion) there is all lot more that I would tell you but don't know because I have not finished the game but if you want to try it it's all on pokèmon go.

The person who originally recorded the footage had to give the Ghost a Trainer Class because, if I remember correctly, it was reading every hold item’s description as her trainer class, and Jasmine’s just what he picked
2:26: That's not a glitch city. That's a glitch map, Map 0xFF00. Glitch cities like you showed with Gen 1 exist in Gen 2 and it's pretty much the same concept: just out of bounds areas in normal maps. They look kind of related, but glitch cities can be easily explored without harming the game and (most?) glitch maps cannot. I am glad that you showed the stuff that the ghost references, though I'd like some more technical answers. I have heard that Map 0xFF00 has 36 events and that this overflows into other parts of RAM, such as your items and pokémon names, so changing that RAM might affect some of those events. The ghost is, I think, part of this set of events. Stop treating pokémon glitches as mysteries. Just trace what data is being read from or written to during these events. What are the conditions for activating these 36 events and how can you force a proper emulator or real console to achieve access to them? How does the game allot pokémon teams to trainers and classes? Why does her name reference a real trainer, while her class name is an unterminated glitch class? The answers are there, just waiting to be looked at and understood. ACE is trivial to do in the first 2 generations of Pokémon games, so the player could force the game to stay together and to be accurate in doing these glitch events without other errors that normally occur from the map data overflowing.
There’s unused data in the game that lets you name the player’s mom, and because of that “MOM”, exists in memory as the default. The ghost repeats MOM because her data is pointing to that.
Lol. The technical explanation is INACCURATE EMULATION. She's not there when you use an ACTUAL ACCURATE EMULATOR. This kids, is why you don't use shit like Vba. Use MGBA.
Unfortunately the correct answer is even more boring than the boring theory proposed in the video. She's not even a scrapped character, she simply isn't a character at all. There's no data in G/S/C for a trainer encounter like her. She's the result of old inaccurate emulators pulling together random assets to create a trainer encounter that just so happens to be creepy.
Who is she is a good question, because according to emulation she wasn't actually supposed to exist, the emulator just shows inaccuracies and she was randomly born out of it
None of this has anything mysterious! Glitch City is just... A bunch corrupted assets that appear thanks to loading an invalid map. You couldn't even battle this broken npc if it wasn't for cheats. And it turns out in the end, that she is just a glitch trainer that is pulling pokemon team data from another trainer. It looking like a burned ghost doesn't have anything special because its sprite is pulling from random data. Sorry to break up the fanfiction, But this is just the truth.
this means, if you try this on a different emulator that is much more accurate than VBA, the only(?) emulator that this glitch happens on, or on a real GBC, this glitch won't happen
and the 'MOMMOM' text is more than likely a coincidence, with the text box data just pointing to a random location in either rom or ram, and the bytes just so happened to spell out 'MOMMOM' when being spelled as text with pokemon crystal's text box engine
There's a small problem...the Firebreathers turn gray due to a glitch/data leak of the code for the Legendary Beasts. It's more likely she comes from a time before all sprites had color, possibly being just a normal, black and white sprite.
