I have to say that I really appreciate the variety of games you cover on your channel. There's not many people (that I'm aware of) that would cover a Marvel themed card game one day and a classic hex-&-chits-on-a-paper-map game like this the next. I've found some really interesting titles thanks to that, so please keep it up!
Thought the review was very fair, well judged, fast paced and fun. I've got the board map as well as the paper map and these hex games certainly work better with a flatter base for the counters. As it happens my father was at Salerno and helped to set up the first RAF air-strip on the beach-head. If you could use the term 'Allies' rather than 'American' forces then that would be greatly appreciated this side of the Atlantic, after all half the Allied counters are khaki coloured. Anyway well done on delivering something in 12 minutes which most reviewers take half an hour over.
Thank you very much, and my apologies for my apparent jingoism. As mentioned, I wrote part of my dissertation on the landing at Salerno, and my hat is off to the British X Corps. I guess I just referred to it as American because the British were under Clark's command there. In any event, it was a team effort for sure. If you're interested, here is a video I made not too long ago about Clark at Salerno: ua-cam.com/video/84pG3i_NcsQ/v-deo.html
I regularly have a Simonitch ‘4X game on my table for solo play. This one is very similar to Normandy 44, but the smaller map and small number of counters makes it very accessible. It’s a great one.
That opening makes me think you are sour on Krauts.... This reminds me of the games I cut my teeth on in the 90s when I was single and could force my friends to play them with me. I may pick this one up as I gave away or sold all of my old ones. Awesome review.
The Simonitch WWII games are some of the best sim out there. Won't bite on this one, but Holland 44 and Ardennes 44 represent the subjects very well. This is likely just as good.
Ted Racier's Dark series offers less complex, more playable option to Simonitch's offerings. I personally prefer the 44 series for the realism, but have played many more of Racier's games as they take less time. Both offer top tier designs.
I've only played Holland 44 in this series (I even bought the fancy mounted board!)- Its a bitnintimidating at first (just through sheer size) I love the appreciation it gives you for the particular campaign though. This looks like an interesting one.
My Italian grandfather fought in this war and was a battle flag of Italy carrier into battle.. ... ... ... ... ... the battle flag was a white cross on a white background...

Thanks! Will do!

Thanks a ton!
Who was that bearded man!? Lol, for a brief moment I thought "the beard" was back! Another great vid! 👍
Ha! No such luck!
I’m going to send you a pair of tweezers and corner clippers so you can earn some extra hex-and-counter street cred.
Right?

It is.
Great t-shirt! :) Love this series, but a lighter game is welcome :)

Ha! I thought that was a French joke?
Salerno ‘43? No, Memoir ‘44!
Ha! Memoir ‘44 is a great game!
