You know, I really wish the Splatoon 2 stats, gears, etc were all saved through YOUR account, not to the save file... this should be a thing like every other shooter online game
iProgramInCpp very much so. Tie your gear to the online account and problem solved. And the local save is tampered with, this can be used for verification
Wait what? Nintendo fears that people trade items and then restore them from a save file? How about synchronizing the possession of items with an online database, like it should've been done in the first place. It feels like this is a problem from the 90s or maybe the early 2000s ...
I know right? It's been done for YEARS now, on thousands of online games. I don't understand why they didn't implement such a commonplace feature. Especially when people's online progression is incapable of using the service that they PAID for, mind you, on their favourite online games. Nintendo please, the solution isn't that hard to implement, don't be cheap.
Seems like some kind of fabricated damage control to me, like, they've done this before. Something had to go *seriously* wrong to not be able to back up so many games. It's like they didn't know this feature was coming while they were making these games.
I'd wager that's pretty much exactly it, honestly. I think in a perfect world (in their view anyway), there's no such thing as Nintendo Switch Online. Their move into an online presence has always been reluctantly, at best, and it's resulted in this bare minimum effort (if you even want to call it that much).
Donar honestly I think they think Oh they lost their progress life has played its card we shouldn’t intervene let’s make it so they need to use MORE HOURS TO GAIJ BACK THE THINGS THEU WORKED FOR BEFORE
In my opinion it's mostly based on the possibility of item and Pokemon duping in the Pokemon Switch titles. Keep in mind the the Nintendo Switch is a mobile platform without access to the internet at all times, which would make it impossible for data to be consistent on both platforms when the Switch loses internet connection. Using this exploit, someone could trade items or Pokemon to another user using local wireless communications, delete their data for the game, and reload the data from the cloud save in order to restore their items and progress. The cloud would have no way of stopping this, and the items would already be safely on the recipient's system, safe and sound. In order to prevent this, the switch would have to be connected to the cloud at all times during wireless communications, regardless of the proximity of both recipients. This issue was never present with the previous Pokemon titles, as they didn't have cloud support, so I feel that this concern is warranted.
What's the difference in paying $60 for the next Call of Duty game and not having Xbox Live or PS Plus? You are still then stuck with the Story Mode and no online multiplayer. In their case, you're paying $60 for the game and then $60 to play online. I think charging for online is fair but Nintendo needs to do some things that don't make sense, like not enabling cloud saves for all games and preventing cheating at the same time. Also give us a messaging system that's independent of Nintendo Online.
Nintendo fans please continue to share and let your voice be herd. Trust me you guys can make a change! It just takes everyone and do not justify or defend these weak features.
I plan on owning both eventually but should I purchase the PS4 pro KHIII bundle an wait for an Animal Crossing or MP4 bundle hoping that by later 2019 Nintendo will fix the online service? Thoughts?
If you weren't being so loud with your voice, you would have heard them saying more is coming. But no, you see what is here now, and all of you want to grab a pitch fork and torches.
Cyanide Nobody’s being an apologist, don’t be a dick. Whether it was free or not, you don’t have to get the service. Others would like the service and almost everyone against it will buy it eventually in time for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
Listen. Give me voice chat without a stupid app. Give me dedicated servers. Give me cloud saves on ALL my games. Give me SNES, 64, GBA, and GameCube games Then, I’d gladly spend even $60 on your service.
SuperCullen004 Youre a fucking idiot thhey litteraly announced the subscription with the switch as in May 2017. This didnt come out of nowhere as nintendo first wanted to experiment with their playerbase
Wait WTF! The Wii U had UA-cam and Netflix. WHY DOESN'T THE SWITCH?! Edit: seems like Netflix are more than happy but Nintendo is unwilling for some reason. I suspect it has to do with incentiving users to get switch online.
Lol made me laugh cuz i use both youtube and netflix on my wii u regularly.. im glad i havent bought the switch. Maybe ill but it when smash ultimate is released in December they say Ken will be Ryus shadow fighter
Omgsh I was just thinking about sticking to my Wii U tbh I'm gonna stick to Supersmash Bros 4 on it too it's so fun n more convenient to have 8 players with Wii controllers n 3DS compatibility lol
Umm will someone please tell me why this "network" exists? I subscribed and I do like it to a point, but isn't that what PS4 and XOne have and it's called a game pass? That's optional though and Nintendo seems to make it mandatory. Why not just make the classic games a separate option? Go back to free play for the modern games and just pay if you want the classic ones. Not everyone wants classics. Where did they get this idea? Sorry just a rant but this just doesn't seem to need to exist for Switch owners.
The fact that nintendo still doesn't let you just keep your saves on an SD card like they did with the 3DS and Wii-U was inexcusible since the Switch's release, too. The fact that they only now allow cloud backups for your saves but deliberately exclude a number of games that you would absolutely want backups of (Splatoon 2, Pokemon) is more or less just a slap in the face, if you can pardon the overused expression. Oh, and Splatoon 2 ALREADY HAD CHEATERS ANYWAY.
I watched a video on a channel called jerry-rig everything and he's doing a Nintendo switch teardown and he said that there's built-in memory I wonder what's up with that
Because they're being cocky. The fact is that Nintendo sort of... saved the gaming industry like 20-30 years ago. I don't know how they did. So Nintendo is taking advantage, they think that people will praise them no matter what. Well I'm not falling for this dirty trick.
It's just another +1 for PC gamers to mock console "peasants" with, now Nintendo have joined the paid online services club. Sure it's cheap but the Wii U had better services for FREE, tbh it'll be better to have at least a decent PC and a console (for the exclusives) but money is tight for many gamers and this is definitely gonna be a kick in the teeth (mostly because you're being charged for inferior services that were better and free on a previous gen console, it kinda feels like a scam). Hopefully Nintendo sorts the online services quickly (remember other companies still haven't optimized their products, apps, games etc for the Switch yet which tbf isn't Nintendo's fault).
@@seanthechallenger577 They'll probably shut down Wii U servers soon so people have no choice but to pay for Switch online. Some Splatoon 2 players are reverting back to first one because of charged multiplayer.
The question is... Will Nintendo see the backlash and work on fixing stuff? I understand that they’ll never fix voice chat because they want people to download the app, sure, but will they maybe add more retro games to the library? Or even find a way to make cloud save work everywhere? I’d like to hope so, but I want to hear what you guys think too
I think they don't wanna stop using the App because they want the switch to focus all of it's ram on gaming, that's why the hub's memory size is so low and so minimalistic, and it's also why they don't support bluetooth headphones so switch can only handle joy con and pro controllers. My guess is that the "new" Switch will finally give baby steps to what most people want.
I plan on owning both eventually but should I purchase the PS4 pro KHIII bundle an wait for an Animal Crossing or MP4 bundle hoping that by later 2019 Nintendo will fix the online service?
If they would've brought the rumored service where you had the whole virtual console from the wiiu and were able to pick out 2-3 games a month or even just one, that would've saved it
The Splatoon problem is mostly fault of the developers of the game, that treats the game as a singleplayer experience when it is in fact, a multiplayer game, that should require login and password to enter the game and load your character that should be stored on their database, not on the console of the consumers! The game is already a multiplayer game! It has levels, ranks, itens and properties to buy and evolve, and they had not created a simple database to store the characters of their players! Jesus... It's a multiplayer game that the developers put all the effort to control map rotation, control events called splatfests, allow people to evolve, it has ranked matches, people level up on the game, they pair people with similar levels... BUT THEY DONT STORE THE INFORMATION OF THEIR CHARACTERS JUST BECAUSE NOT... How could they be so dumb... Just look to Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Fortinite, Paladins, and actually any online game.. They have login screen and the game loads your character. Why they did it different for Splatoon?
I didn't...i have UA-cam red, well worth the $7 a month with absolutely no ads on any UA-cam video and the music streaming service which is similar to Pandora
Uh, you lost me when you claimed Splatoon players are fine with this. I’ve literally seen no one defend this. The community as a whole is furious over the lack of cloud saves and having to pay for an online service that’s been spotty and shit for the duration of Splatoon’s lifespan. Splatoon players if anything are affected the most and the general pushback shows this. They’re the MOST upset if anything. Come on man. What kind of cherrypicked comments did you find?
Fury 2k nah it's just 20 bucks a year. it should be paid for or else Nintendo will definitely get behind since Xbox and PS4 players pay 60 average a year for their service. Literally just pay and play your crap squid game. if it's fun then it's worth it
@@bobbyrey8270 It's p2p now for what 2 months ? I had zero desire to play online on my switch. And even less to pay for it. I am already paying for xbox live and psn.
"Only" 20$ a year? I don't want to pay a single dollar for a shitty service, and if anyone does, then I'd like to invite them to test my service for only 5$ a year where you can get all my used toilet paper! Isn't that great? (You need to come over pick it up personally though and I might not open the door for an hour or two, but it's only 5$ so you really can't complain)
i agree completely and honestly this is seriously pissing me off so much, I'm thinking of never even touching any of that online content until they can make it either a lower price or make it completely free so it can actually be affordable for everyone who owns a switch like me for example
Mac MashPotato didn't work. I went to this page en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22272/~/how-to-set-up-a-routers-port-forwarding-for-a-nintendo-switch-console and did everything right but it still didnt work. >:C
I'm sure Nintendo will give a heads up if they are planning to shut down the Wii U online servers. So far, it looks good. Nintendo hasn't made any hints of shutting down the Wii U servers yet.
@@SatoshiTajiri Like I said, if Nintendo were going to shut down the Wii U servers, they would tell us. They told us when they were planning to shut down the original Wii servers.
"they would tell us" And what? Telling us make it less of a dick move? lol Ohi guys, it is going offline next month, bye. Please buy our crappy switch online. Just like they did with the wii, announced and shut it down 2 months later. Total assholes.
Sergio Vassari fans can go both ways. Just cause we own a system doesnt mean we’re fans either. Just means we like the system. This online is bs and waste of money. Online runs crappy i bought it called my bank and got my money back haha!!!
Nintendo online is always something I hated. The switch never had an internet app which I hated considering the wii u did. And the fact they are taking previously accessible content and charging us for it is dumb
Yeah, shit like minecraft in which people invest hundreds of hours to build their things doesn't get an official way to back all of that up at all because of dem filthy cheeters.
Ghost Hunter Mike yeah, I know right. It makes the Minecraft community seem actually ridiculous, but there are a lot of cheaters in Minecraft Especially on pc. It really sucks
it's 20$ a year so your keep paying online fee is invalid (not saying that you can't complain just pointing out that what you're saying isn't accurate) but to add both xbox and playstation require you to pay to play online paying for it isn't the issues
Nintendo as a company deeply cares about what kind of interaction children have with their games so it's kind of understandable. At the same time, why not lock it behind the fucking parental control features already on the switch?
It's not just Nintendo getting greedier, it's the entire gaming community. Every day more games have incorporated lootboxes and microtransactions into them, and this is because we reinforce this behavior with our money. We may bitch and moan about companies adding microtransactions, but at the end of the day we end up caving in and support them even though we hate these business practices. They get away with it because we let them, and complaining about anything isn't gonna turn up results in our favor; if we really wanted companies like EA and Konami to stop being greedy bastards, then we need to stop supporting them. This is no different for Nintendo's online service. If you don't like it, don't support it. If you wouldn't give a bad child a cookie, then you shouldn't support something that's a gimmick for your money. Btw I wanna go on record and say that the last EA game I bought was Dead Space 3 when it first came out. I've pirated their other games that got my interest from them.
Splatoon 2 is my favorite game, and when my switch broke, my heart broke as well as my account I've been grinding since day one was erased just like that. If Nintendo had cloud saves when they should’ve, this would've never happened. However, Nintendo wouldn't be able to let me anyway because of no cloud saves for a game that 100% should have it. This make me very mad at Nintendo for not moving forward in technology they proved themselves to already have the capability to run. And then the fact that you need to pay for online for Splatoon 2, which you need to buy, and the fact that paid online for Splatoon 2 has no benefits that it did before is simply outrageous.
shekmatebietch Bruh, the point is that everything you are saying is meaningless and will change nothing at all ever. You are ONLY saying that so you can feel like you have a functional brain. so please stahp mantoning mi baad sepelling, no oen geves uh shet sa loang as teh meenong is nown. I don't even own a Switch but I'm still infuriated. I guess we can agree that Nintendo makes incredible stories and adventures, but not incredible software.
I feel that some body is gonna get triggered about me claiming nintendo can't make "incredible software" so I should clarify Nintendo has made some almighty hardware and software in the past, but compared to companies like Xbox and Sony, those guys' tech is so advanced to where you start to wonder why the hell Nintendo Switch can barely handle Minecraft in 4player mode in 2018, or something like that.
That makes no sense, my dude, being able to handle Minecraft 4 player mode or not comes down to hardware, not software. Software are the games themselves and Nintendo makes them better than in a long time. BotW, Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Smash Ultimate, etc. I'd say they make the most incredible software on the market atm. No, I'm not triggered and I even agree with your sentiment but for unpacking such a rhetorical criticism, you got your words wrong.
Chriss Richter You're right, i think i meant to type hardware instead of software 'Cause when i meant software, i was thinking about the services, programs and the visuals on screen, i didnt mean the components of the actual physical product, unless online is a physical thing
I feel Nintendo is starting to shift their focus onto the multiplayer audience and kill off single player games. Like how EA are doing. Meanwhile Sony has proven those companies wrong time and time again with their hardcore cinematic story driven single player games with smooth game mechanics. Spider Man sold 3.3million during its first week. SINGLE PLAYER GAMES AREN'T DEAD, IT IS STILL WANTED BY MANY GAMERS AROUND THE WORLD. SINGLE PLAYER GAMES STILL MAKE MONEY! Then we have more multi-player games like Splatoon 2, Arms, Pokemon, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing to some extent, Mario Maker. Like Nintendo, just stop......stop aiming to your competitive multi-player audience and give some hardcore single player games that are as good as sony exclusives. You did good with Xenoblade 2, Mario Odyssey and Zelda BOTW. Stick to doing that damn it!
I just have my Switch for repair right now but when I have in back I actually think I'll buy online. 20€ a year is just like a week of my work so it does suck but there is no way around it. if we want to keep playing the things we paid money for were gonna have to pay more money for them now and none of us can change that.
@@Danny-vv3zw you see, its not like i don't have the money to pay switch online, but i simply don't want nintendo to get it. They announced this bullshit like they'd do the players a favour but its all about earning money. I can't play splatoon anymore without paying nintendo for this mistake of a feature, so i won't. I simply stick with UNepic and botw and stay happy with what i have. I don't want to be mad at nintendo but, since they don't let me play splatoon for free, i am
to makes things worse, as a game with the "online" tag on it, Splatoon is designed as a sinlge player with Co-Op, item stat rolls and all that stuff is done Client side rather than by the servers, and the matches are Peer to Peer rather than an official dedicated server like it should be. not only does it show Nintendo's Lack of experience with Online play, but also their lack of care for consumers
+Manny Mystery Nintendo is like a half deaf grandpa. They like to make you happy and sometimes they REALLY spoil you, but you gotta tell them what you want a few times before they can hear you. I mean... it’s not all bad... some gaming companies are completely devoid of what their audience wants. Nintendo will catch on eventually... hopefully.
The only “correction” they need is to kill this garbage scam entirely and hope they haven’t killed the Switch sale momentum with this anti-consumer gatekeeping garbage. This “service” only exists to act as a paywall for the peer-to-peer multiplayer components of games you already shelled out $60 for when you purchased them.
How can people be fooled by the retro games and go with this junk??? I know retro is the new trend but come on we are speaking of 30y old games here that have be re-released over and over on wii, wiiu and 3ds. You people are really following that carrot without noticing the huge stick above your head? The only point of cloud service is to backup data, if the main games don't allow it then what is even the point of having a cloud? To back up your pokemon quest save? I'm horrified by some comments that say "you're charged 1/3 of what Sony or Xbox would so it's fair to get less features" but we're not getting less features, we' re getting none of them! The only thing they did is lock online play behind this piece of shit, the rest is here to distract us from the real issue. Now can we hope that Nintendo will change anything? I don't think so because all splatoon players now and smash players in 3 months will pay regardless of the issues just to be able to play online so well done Nintendo, you screwed your players and you've done it well.
Batsu84 As a dedicated Splatoon2 player this hits hard. I paid for the online on day one because without it, not only would I not be able to play my favorite game, but my I’d honestly just switch back to gaming on my PC and my switch would just gather dust. What this pay to play online plan does do is allow nintendo to more easily do things like implement better anti-cheat in their competitive games along with implementing DEDICATED SERVERS to their competitive games which would truly be a dream come true and immediately make the $20 feel well worth it. BUT, until Nintendo shows me some of that action it definitely feels pretty terrible paying for what is unquestionably the worst online service in modern gaming.
@@Dark-xv9iz Tbh, I dont really care about the characters. I played Mario Kart 8 for the longest time at this point, I dont really like Deluxe, it's hard to adapt to.
I would actually be willing to pay for online service if there was/were 1. Cloud save on ALL games/ Backup on usb flash drive 2. Dedicated servers 3. Lots of NES + SNES games, which you could download (even if you could only play them when you had the online pass, and then when the switch dies and nintendo stop doing online pass you get to keep 5 of your choice) 4. A decent voice chat 5. FLIPPING NETFLIX UA-cam AND OTHER WEBSITES And ideally it would cost only £10
As someone who has bought the Nintendo Switch Online service, I have to say that the service is pretty bad. Online works and the price is cheap, but cheap price means jackshit when there's a lot of fundamental problems with it. For one, the NES games are a bad incentive. Why not obscure titles or SNES titles etc? Most people (including myself) don't give a damn about it, ESPECIALLY when most of these games are on Virtual Console or have better versions i.e. Super Mario Advance 4 or Donkey Kong Original Edition. The Cloud Saves are something that REALLY should've been a thing since Day 1. The voice app is just dumb. I don't see why they don't have it built-in/partner up with the likes of Discord? All this plus the lack of information on the secret box just makes me dislike the service even more. If Sony and Microsoft got it right with PS+ and Xbox Live, why couldn't Nintendo do the same? Overall, Nintendo Switch Online is in dire need of improvement, as this is just embarrassing.
cause the other compains have more options and more pratice in online than Nintendo when ms for did online it didn't come out right with the xbox did it took time. yes there stuff Nintendo needs to fix but you also have to understand there some Nintendo leaders who are stuck in there view of online. sure it get better in time. its first time nintendo is getting paid service so with the money they get they could easily improve onto it
So you are saying that the NES games are bad because they are unnecessary and not interesting to you, the voice app is bad because it is unnecessary and not interesting to you and the cloud saves should have been there from the start? You say that the service is bad because you "don't give a damn about" the NES games, because the voice chat is "dumb" and because you didn't get cloud saves day 1 i. e. a good thing isn't free.
BaBiT56 are you an absolute moron? I don’t even have the words to describe how dumb your post is. Am I being baited? You know that one of the most revolutionary game design techniques to be invented was game saving. With all the online games and streaming services, saving on the internet seems normal ya? It’s not really a question. But they’re not only putting a price on being able to save, they’re restricting some games from being saved at all. That’s not to ANYONES benefit. It’s very anti consumer. Unless you’re making money from this, it effects YOU too. Also fyi “a good thing isn’t free” Discord is free and it’s a hell of a lot better than what Nintendo’s offering.
Save data gets ERASED if you dont pay? What the heck?!?!? Imagine if you had a 100% skyrim character (level 999, all gear, all decorations, all weapons, and all effects discovered) and you decided to put your save file on the cloud and then one day you lost your save file to forgetting to pay for the nintendo switch online service. That would be like nintendo saying " Yeah, all that gear? All those levels, all those spells? Yeah KISS ALL THAT GOODBYE CUZ YOU FORGOT TO PAY FOR THE ONLINE SERVICE!"
Do you get mad when the electricity goes out because you stopped paying the electric bill? Magazines stop coming when you don't resubscribe? I get there's a lot wrong with Switch Online but that's not one of them.
Skyrim on Switch is ass anyway. No anti aliasing, no mods, no console commands. I had enough when bandits spawned in my hearthfire house and it took me 40 minutes to get them out. I have 600 hours on the game, but 30% of that was me having fun. The 70% was either remembering what I wanted to do, fixing a bug, deciding what to do, or wasting time at all the unnecessary puzzles. I shouldn’t have to do all that just to have fun on a video game. Also, I can’t enjoy the scenery when it doesn’t even render properly.
They backed themselves into a corner with how they handle online portions of games like Splatoon 2 & Pokemon Let's Go. There are VERY FEW games these days that don't store online progress/data like XP, level and gear in the online account being used... Instead, Splatoon 2 stores this stuff *locally.* For whatever ungodly reason, I have no idea. Gear, maybe I can understand. Level, a bit of a stretch. But seriously? *Competitive ranking too?* If they're so afraid of people reloading that stuff via cloud saves, why don't they just store it server-side like 90% of other online multiplayer games? So people *can't* reload it? Hell, by stopping us from using cloud saves on it, aren't they just opening the door for people to cheat their local data instead, and gain any weapon/rank they want? I don't mind the price. I don't mind the features on offer. But until their core online service for games like this catch up with the rest of the industry, I don't see the point in paying for it. (Hilariously enough, they offered limited edition clothing items for Nintendo Switch Online... Items which *will be lost forever if something happens to your save data.* Great job Nintendo.) Seriously, I had to send my Switch away for repairs, and they did a full factory reset on it (I'm not faulting them for this, there was forewarning and it's just what technicians do), and THIS is when I found out about how Splatoon 2 handles progress *for online multiplayer.* Lv 40 to lv 0, everything gone. With less than two weeks before Switch Online launched, I literally didn't see any point in playing Splatoon 2 again to try regain the lost ground, knowing that at any point, all of it could just vanish again... Turning a once fun experience into what feels like a grind just to get back my favourite weapons. Why bother slogging through matches with ugly clothes and trash guns? Why bother playing Salmon Run for tiny scraps of points in the lower ranks for about 20 matches just to get back to Profreshional? I'm genuinely disappointed with Nintendo being so behind, because there was so much potential here.
i havent played in a month and after all the required updates it says i have to pay or do a 7 day free trial. free trial wtf ive had it for free for over a year and now i have to pay such a disappointment i already pay for internet and thats $90 alone, i might as well not pay for internet at all since i can play solo games without internet. i did the 7 day free trial but my ranks are saved and im not a fan of now we decide to charge. i dont like the trial its same as before nothing fancy or extra
DMF Dan - Many people don't have the extra money to pay for the online subscription or rightfully don't want to pay for a service that has been free for a fucking year and a half. Nintendo screwed the pooch with such a heavily delayed online service. All the other consoles waited till the next generation to implement payed online service's. The annoyance is warranted.
Programmer here. The cheating is because incompetent developers not passing security 101. Specifically the lesson about not trusting the client. If the data is stored in the client, then they are doing it wrong. Ranks and items should be stored on the server where cheaters can't touch them and can be backed up by expert server engineers.
Um. Have you even talked to a Splatoon fan? No one is defending the lack of cloud saves. Everyone thinks it's bs, and some of them aren't buying the service at all because the lack of the one feature they were waiting for. You'd be hard pressed to find one person in the Splatoon sub who'd defend this descrimination. No need to be all condescending towards an entire player base, pal.
@@doglounge9321 telling someone to "stfu" doesn't add to the topic. It only shows that you have nothing constructive to say, so you instead rely on insults.
And notice how they listened and have given us a true new metroid game The backlash from this service, (as unnecessary as I see it) will likely result in the same
most are stupid. but probably not. splatoon 2 is better in every way shape and form. you have to be stupid to be so stubborn not to pay $20 a year. a fucking year
from what i've seen its not actually that, only multiplayer games seem to lack cloud saves and the only other negative thing i can think of is the voice chat app which i don't give a fuck about voice chat in the first place.
Nessa Skye Nothing’s wrong with it. The point is that the fact that we’re finding comfort in the old console rather than the new is a sign of how Nintendo is downgrading it’s own console.
Ugh.. There are so many people in the comment section that are actually defending Nintendos practices.. Guess they didn't even bother watching the entire video. How can you defend crappy practices like these? Yes, of course servers cost money and 20 bucks a year aren't that much. But that's not the point! Nintendo now wants money for something, that has always been free with their consoles and handhelds before. But instead of giving us a sweet deal, they're completely f*cking this up. If they could reach the same online standarts as xbox and Playstation I would gladly throw my money at them. But NOT like THIS. And as much as I love NES games: I'm fed up with them by this point. I would love to see some N64 or SNES games as a bonus for a change...
So you want to play exclusively on switch with other switch users and never change your username, or do you want to pay $10-15 dollars to change your username and different subscription levels that cost at least $50 or as much as $110 to play games online with the fullest functionality. "High" standards have high costs.
While I'm mad that it costs money I can only hope that money goes towards the servers and making them better. I'd rather pay a third of what Sony and Microsoft ask for if that means better online gameplay
@@BlackSalamander439 not everyone has extra money lying around. The only reason I own a switch is graduation money I received from multiple family members. 20.00 is way to much for an online service
I got Splatoon 2 when I bought a Switch. Had fun playing for half a year with the promise of online play. After all, the main focus of Splatoon is the multiplayer part. Singleplayer is for Story. But now when I try to do what I've always done, I suddenly get a message saying I need Switch Online in order to play multiplayer. And if I don't, all I can do is the singleplayer missions that I have already finished. Even if I did get Switch Online, Splatoon doesn't even get cloud save. And this ain't gonna stop hackers, despite the pretty promises. It's like they're saying "Remember how much fun it was to play online? Now you have to pay for it. But you got a taste for it now so you will, right?" Just because I have 20 bucks doesn't mean Nintendo is automaticly entitled to it, especially not when what they're offering is what has always been there. We've experienced enough of this type of bullshit with other companies. It's not like they need it to stay afloat. Especially not when they don't even have dedicated servers. I've always considered Nintendo the better apple of the bunch. But I fear they'll dive into the same hole that sony and microsoft did if they try to squeeze us for every penny and don't experience any resistance, just because "they're Nintendo". That said, can someone explain to me what the logic is behind that we're paying for the Splatoon game itself and then have to pay for multiplayer, while Fortnite apperantly doesn't need payment for either? Or did I understand that wrong? Just curious. I was wondering what the turning point would be that would have me play something else, but I didn't expect it to be this despressing.
BanditOfBandwidth agreed I’m buying it for splatoon smash Pokémon and rocket league mostly for smash and Pokémon it’s 20$ but the 20$ for online service has no value and not worth it except for the nes games I need it so I can play competitive smash and Pokémon for next year but Nintendo needs to fix this asap if smash has problems with online play then Nintendo is screwed real bad
Nintendo said you would have to pay for online in the beginning. And every console requires you to pay for online services way before nintendo so what exactly are you mad about?
@@tylerdurden4389 nintendo hasnt had the requirement of online pay to play forc15 years. They were the one game company that didnt do the financial bull of it. But theyve fallen into the same basket of sony and microsoft.
How about this: Nintendo makes the online multiplayer free, people will only have to pay for the cloud saves and nes games, lower the price, then add more nes games, and add some more vc games like snes games. It'll be a more bang for your buck kinda thing and you can still play online multiplayer games like Splatoon 2 for free.
Here's what they should do. Make it so your cloud save automatically gets replaced with the save on your console when your switch is connected to wifi and auto update the save whenever the game saves to prevent cheating so all games can support cloud save. Dedicated servers. Probably a need for Smash Ultimate. Needing to check in with switch online once a week is kind of silly and unnecessary. I don't care for voice chat that much, but the option would be nice. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to just plug in a headset or have voices come out of the system or tv itself. An ever expanding retro library, involving anything from Gamecube to older. Perhaps a netflix type cue for NES and SNES, and the option to buy games for the N64 and Gamecube. Then if ya remake or port most of the must owns from Wii and Wii-U to the Switch, it could really be the ultimate Nintendo console.
20$ for lackluster voice chat, lackluster cloud save data because "cheaters," lacking the entirety of the Virtual Console of the 3DS and Wii U, which they should import all over with the addition of possible online additions which they've added to the NES games. The way Nintendo is handling Voice Chat is just a damned joke, nearly everything is Nintendo is doing is just backwards and shameful. I doubt I'll be paying for the service, friends probably will for me, but even then I do not like the concept of paying to play online in any sense.
You do realize that adding in online netcode to existing games isn't a "push a button and it works" solution right? Even the best snes emulators out there for netplay have serious issues with playing them online, and it's pretty much a total disaster with any kind of N64 game. GameCube has faired a bit better with Dolphin, but it's still far from the Nintendo Seal of Quality. Handling voice chat on a smartphone frees the console to dedicate more of it's hardware to the games you're trying to play which is really important for a device with such a weak CPU and so little RAM trying to run home console games. The only thing that doesn't have a decent justification is the cloud saves, since it's not preventing anything that isn't already happening anyways.
There's no defense for Splatoon 2's lack of cloud saves. The ranks should just be on a dedicated server... However, there's a decent case for Pokémon as they put a huge amount of effort into preventing cheat Pokémon, and Cloud Saves would subvert that by allowing save scumming. Pokémon Bank resolves most of the issues anyway. That said, I think that a more limited cloud save might have been possible with Pokémon. Like, it won't let you trade without doing a cloud save first (though that would force an Internet requirement for trading), or they disable the ability to redownload a cloud save if a trade has occurred and only the primary Switch can do trades. However, those would not be simple fixes and it would be a bit much for just one game.
"friends probably will pay for me" Wow. What a scumbag, who the hell even says that? Seriously what a gold digger. I am not happy with the Service either but I am baffled by how the little shits In this comment section are handling It.
That is your opinion and yawn, couldn't care, you aware that the Switch Online has already been hacked with the first few hours, that is just pathetic and shows Nintendo is just behind the times. I already do not justify paying to play online, the simple fact the online has already been broken in a couple hours is just sad. Save your money.
Discord should be on the switch, then that will be a big punch to the gut to Nintendo. And best part is, they should add special Nintendo icons for servers. Then this will be amazing.
For the first few hours of playing with Nintendo switch online service I gotta say it's hot garbage. I was playing splatoon 2 and the service is bad. their aren't alot of people now for finding matches was taking like forever. And the fact this game doesn't have cloud save is ridiculous! I love Nintendo but come on Nintendo you gotta do better
They knew what was good for the consumers, they have done it in the past (Native voice chat for DS and wii and proper save back ups for Wii, 3ds and wii U). So I cannot see this as a simple screw up, because if it was they would have rectified it early on or immediately before the service was announced. To me this was a DELIBERATE scam and cash grab that appeals to the minority and blind for the purpose of being "unique". The reason Nintendo is arguably the BEST, yet also and more importantly the WORST video game company in the history of gaming. Is that they pull of shady and delinquent business practises for absolutely no reason, purpose or justification. At least with EA their simply do these terrible stuff for the sake of money. The way how Nintendo seems to work with their overpriced tags to this online service implies that they don't even care about money at all, they don't want you to pay their stuff. Nintendo is backwards thinking for no reason, that's the underlining issue with the big N which needs to be rectified.
I lost a year worth of saved data on several games including Breath of the Wild when my switch broke and they couldn't recover it. I stopped playing the Switch after than and only recently started using it periodically though I've lost interest in it. I'm mostly on my PS 4 where my games get backed up.
He forgot to mention that Playstation has been doing USB backups for the past 3 generations of consoles. (Not sure about xbox, but cloud saving is FREE and INFINITE.)
So unless I pay $20 a year after spending $600 for a Switch along with the new Pokemon game I can’t trade pr battle with other people? The whole point to Pokemon is trading and battling lots of different people and collecting them all. Not a big deal for Lets Go but when gen 8 comes out its gonna be a problem. If people spend $80 on a new game they shouldn’t only get half the experience. I love Nintendo but I feel like they’ve made a mistake here . . . I realize its only $20 a year but it’s $20 that we shouldn’t have to be paying
It's been like that for years with every other console though. How is it a problem now? As in how come this is now Nintendo's fault while you had to pay for the multiplayer components of new games with Sony and Microsoft for ages already? Which is your argument. Also, I wouldn't buy a switch for 600 bucks xD That's not how much it should cost even with Pokemon included
Chriss Richter I agree with the part about bad math, but for the other part, why does it matter that other companies have been doing it? People have been complaining about those services for a long time, and switch launched with online free. It's like if you gave someone a gift, came to their door a few months later, and asked to be reimbursed for the gift.
So if you buy a switch ($300) and buy an online game (Splatoon= $60) pay for the online (the switch is going to be there for about 5 years so $100) that is going to be $480.00 for you. I am not in the U.S but in Canada so I have to pay $605.00 for the online, a game and the switch.
In my opinion the real thing we need is to #GetRidOfNintendoSwitchOnline but not get rid of nes games but make it so you have to buy them from the e shop but then the switch would be better than it is now
Online for nes games is laggy and my son and i are both on 5g wifi on our router. Bith switch’s maxed signal. Smash will def be lagggy. Smash wii u was a flop and this smash will flop. Why? Because they spoiled smash. They gave all characters, stages, smashes out. That was supposed to be for fans to find out. Tired of this baby generation and getting spoon feed. What happen to playing the game and getting excited about fighting the mystery character?!
@@VinnigsSpinTheBlock they didn't *spoil* smash, but I do understand the anger about not having mystery characters. Mystery character got replaced with DLC characters (which sucks, but is still okay because another character is another character after all).
how should the revert your ranking thing even work? NORMALLY online rankings are stored on a server meaning that reverting your savefile wouldn't have ANY impact whatsoever, and unless you can trade away or otherwise lose your gear etc in Splat2 (no Idea as I dont have the Game), these could be stored on the server in general and be linked with your account, along with the online ranking and forcibly updated everytime you play online, that would mean the only things you could lose even in theory are your settings and customization options, but those could just be synced along normally. the only argument I can kinda understand (doesnt mean i like it) is about regaining stuff you traded away, which would be a ridiculously time consuming way to clone stuff
My1 except that splatoon 2 *doesn't have servers*. Games are played peer-to-peer, and all of the data is stored locally. and yet they harp on about preventing cheaters when they leave an insanely obvious vulnerability there that isn't found anywhere else in the modern age.
iirc the data syncs up with the app so thats how they work out a global ranking list (which is why splatnet info doesnt change unless u boot up the game with internet access), the app doesnt care about the sudden influx of cheated stats tho.. but yeah the ranking is stored locally due to having no actual servers for the games.
This IS a thing, but I'm pretty sure they added that as a response to people saying the Cloud Saves system sucked. Either way, it could serve as a way of showing that Nintendo is listening to their consumers.
It's people like you that fuel Nintendo's dark-ages policy on save-data / general technical features Where is the USB save option?? is this a crime to have a file-backup system from 1996 feature on our £300 devices of 2018??
it's not a correction if it's so pointless in the big picture of things; look i understand - but Nintendo don't need any form of apologists right now - it could have been for 60 or 600 months point is thatnnet for the lifespan of your account YOU STILL CANNOT SAVE TO A BLOODY USB FLASH LIKE YOU COULD ON CONSOLES SINCE 2003
Discord Is for Pop Culture Feminist LGBTQRXYZ teenage little shits. Nintendo Switch Online sucks right now but to be honest when It comes to voice chat I really don't give a damn.
I don't care at all about Splatoon 2 but now my Switch is collecting a lot of dust since this stupid thing with paying for online when it was free for so many years . And C'mon !! NES games again ?? I grow up with NES console but at least you could make them full screen but not even that. Like I said, Nintendo did a huge , huge mistake with this ! It's pure greed, nothing else. No wonder it's a huge fail .
I got a stupid water bottle flip ad before this, "let's raise the stakes!" then a kid flips more water bottles and screams "wooaahhh!" one of the dumbest ads I've ever seen.
if they disable cloud saves in splatoon because they fear cheaters, they will NEVER allow local save data backups. BUT i don't see how they're unable to keep track of ranks and item trades on THEIR servers and simply set THOSE stats to the latest state, in case you revert to a backup save game. it would be so simple. it's unbelievable
Guys I defend nintendo online because it has just started, if it will have details that need to be fixed but it is cheap and provides fun, it will improve over time relax the salt
I think the issue with Nintendo online play is that it's peer-to-peer connection. Dedicated servers are a must for a online services and strong connections.
Dedicated servers only improve online for games with several connections in a match (that's why it works so well for Fortnite with 100 people in each match). They might help a bit for Mario Kart and maybe Splatoon, but other games like 1 v 1 Smash Bros wouldn't be affected at all. The long term solution is better coding for the online portions of games, which hopefully Smash will have.
CommanderZaktan: peer-to-peer is better than server when there are only a small amount of players or its really important that the situations the players are in are not asynchron. if you are playing 1v1 servers are worse than peer to peer because with a server you have an unnecessary third party between the two players which is slower than if those two players are directly linked.
I mean there's a reason why Call of Duty WW2 is also P2P. Battlefield 1 used dedicated servers but was *plagued* with connection issues early on. Dedicated servers aren't a magic cure all. Splatoon's P2P setup actually isn't that bad other than the really *really* terrible netcode design that will basically require a full engine redesign (something they didn't have time for between Splatoon 1 and 2). Smash Ultimate should have a much better connection than Sm4sh just due to the better wifi on the Switch, but considering the updated engine we'll hopefully see some netcode refinements too. I get that the game is frame perfect, but input shouldn't be netcode dependent >.> Not ever. When the game turns your dashing up-tilts into dash attacks because LAGSPIKE that's not okay, but has more to do with the game's code itself than it's P2P nature.
@@jdc1981 See but the problem with that is, without a server, matches are much more likely to be laggy. For peer to peer, if even one person is laggy, the entire match becomes laggy, disconnecting even people with good connections. With a server, we could avoid this, and everyone's games will be a lot more consistent, a must for competition.
@AlexanderOsborne That's a really good point, but I feel like an easy fix for that would simply be a mandatory connection test before going online with those games. Also like Tirex367 mentioned servers create a middleman between the two connections that cause a bit of extra input lag. Additionally better netcode would improve connectivity for all players across the board. Don't get me wrong, dedicated servers are great for certain games, but they're far from an all-encompassing solution.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Glad I watched this before buying the Online, because now I'm going to hold off until it improves tremendously.
Even Nintendo fanboys are standing up against this BS. Nintendo needs to know they can't just rest on their laurels and expect their fans to buy whatever stupid crap they release.
USB saves does not fix the problem with Splatoon 2 and PLG. It actully makes it worse. For splatoon 2 i say you could split the save data. (Yes it possible) have ranking data be separate from everything else. And then allow that data to be cloud saved. (Its a much easier and cheaper fix than pulling data out of the switch to be held in a server (coding nightmare) yes i know this would allow for infinte rerolls but the chunks will mitigate this. You could also make it where the cloud will check the save data on the system for corruption/ missing before allowing a download back from the cloud. It can also check the system log to see if the data was user deleted and if so lock the download for like 24 hours. PLG could impliment an autosave and backup feature everytime you trade. Where an uncancelable backup will be transmitter to the cloud server once the system is back online. This in a simplifed explanation but you can effectively make it to where you can't download from the server until you upload after a trade unless the system denotes that the save was infact corrupted. What if you get traded a bugged/hacked pokemon? While with a unblocked cloud save you can easily roll back your save but in the system about you can't so the solution? One solution can be to make all trades go through a server filter which checks the pokemon and the item but that would take away local trading. My best idea is the 24 hour rule stated above. Offer solutions not just complaints
Or you could just allow people to save scum because it's really not that big of a deal with how Splatoon 2's multiplayer ranking and matchmaking work... "Oh no that other person has a few more S's than I do! The horror!" :/
Save scumming in Splatoon 2 in any meaningful way is a ridiculous time investment so it's not even worth the hassle... Especially if they allow one cloud restore per day. It would be faster to just regain the lost rank or buy another reroll by playing the game than it would be to savescum if it's once per day :/
@@sniperfox47 due to rank jumping (even though its totally random got to all X without getting a single jump) i can see save scumming as not viable in lower ranks. X rank on the other hand is where the problems could arise. (Especially if you allow the USB method) the single day restore is a good idea. Make it where the switch internal clock checks with the cloud service so people just can change their clock on the system to bypass it.
Nintendo went corporate to the max after the switch release. $80 for some cardboard wrapped in a Nintendo logo already scream "hey just give us that money already"
Honestly the main thing that seperated Nintendo from the xBox and PS4 was that it didnt need to be paid for online.
This kinda ruins it
Literally one of the reasons I was always a big nintendo fan.
Faith in -humanity- Nintendo: Lost
It's 20 dollars for a year. That's like 4 packs of cigarettes
Dude, no one cares about the price being cheap. The features are all GARBAGE.
Omg. First i buy my 400 dollar switch, then I buy a 60 dollar online game and download other online games, know I have to pay 20 to play the games.
You know, I really wish the Splatoon 2 stats, gears, etc were all saved through YOUR account, not to the save file... this should be a thing like every other shooter online game
this should be a thing like *every online game with accounts ever*
Nintendo just wants a couple extra bucks
*at expense of their fanbase*
Hell, Call of Duty does this. I see no reason why Splatoon 2 can't do it too.
Yeah! exactly!
iProgramInCpp very much so.
Donar honestly I think they think
Oh they lost their progress life has played its card we shouldn’t intervene let’s make it so they need to use MORE HOURS TO GAIJ BACK THE THINGS THEU WORKED FOR BEFORE
In my opinion it's mostly based on the possibility of item and Pokemon duping in the Pokemon Switch titles.
Gotta pay $60 for splatoon then pay $20 extra to play it
$60 for the storymode alone.
wooptidoo.
We gotta pay to play, how awful... Pay to Playyyyyy.... ua-cam.com/video/32VKCbcNtIY/v-deo.html
Lets not forget $20 for the DLC if youre into that
What's the difference in paying $60 for the next Call of Duty game and not having Xbox Live or PS Plus? You are still then stuck with the Story Mode and no online multiplayer. In their case, you're paying $60 for the game and then $60 to play online. I think charging for online is fair but Nintendo needs to do some things that don't make sense, like not enabling cloud saves for all games and preventing cheating at the same time. Also give us a messaging system that's independent of Nintendo Online.
ExoticKeko I'm pretty sure PSN and Xbox Live have both gone down multiple times in the last few years.
Nintendo fans please continue to share and let your voice be herd. Trust me you guys can make a change! It just takes everyone and do not justify or defend these weak features.
They’re already 100% adding stuff to the service over time, you people need patience
I plan on owning both eventually but should I purchase the PS4 pro KHIII bundle an wait for an Animal Crossing or MP4 bundle hoping that by later 2019 Nintendo will fix the online service? Thoughts?
mattbauer57 THANK YOU! Nintendo never said this is all we are getting, it takes time to make a good online service.
Give me SNES, 64, GBA, and GameCube games
Then, I’d gladly spend even $60 on your service.
That'd be something, but that's modern so it's not happening.
That would never happen cause that actually makes sense. Nintendo apparently doesn't like to use logic when it comes to this sort of stuff.
Yeah maybe they will use the money to do those things

I am not spending $60 on any online service.
They would probably have to release new joy cons with headphone jacks or a grip to make it better for the voice chat on the console instead of the app
Yeah I gotta pay another 20 dollars for my 60 dollar game on my 300 dollar console with my 80 dollar controllers. Thanks Nintendo.
And you don't on any other console?
So... what about Playstation 4 and XBOX ONE? Another 70$ for your 70$ game on those +300$ systems... Not just Nintendo
Chriss Richter yeah I know I just wasn’t expecting Nintendo to jump on the scumwagon.
DJordydj lol at least your systems come with a game from the start. 300 bucks with NO games?? But I get it.
SuperCullen004 Youre a fucking idiot thhey litteraly announced the subscription with the switch as in May 2017. This didnt come out of nowhere as nintendo first wanted to experiment with their playerbase
They should have kept Online and stuff free. I was happy with the way online was before they announced this.
i think it's fine that they're asking for a paid online service, but said service needs to actually be good. which it isn't.
Just Another Crybaby. I'm just glad I'm not paying 50+$ a year. 20$ a year seems like a reasonable price.
Kai Zafra A reasonable price for this garbage would be 5€ a year.

Wait WTF! The Wii U had UA-cam and Netflix. WHY DOESN'T THE SWITCH?!

Yeah, until they stop the Wii U's online service like they did with the Wii -_-....this is all bullshit..
#BissOnNintendo
I watched a video on a channel called jerry-rig everything and he's doing a Nintendo switch teardown and he said that there's built-in memory I wonder what's up with that
Nob the Knave well you see, its supposed to be able to use sd card *like you know every other console ever*

@Viero that doesn't mean we should have to pay to get access to something we already have
Especially since we already have to pay monthly for internet to begin with.
not really, they are just following the horrible trends that other consoles like playstation and xbox have made the last couple of generations
I wonder why Nintendo always has the coolest games, but *always* the worst internet connectability out of most of the other consoles released.
Because they're being cocky. The fact is that Nintendo sort of... saved the gaming industry like 20-30 years ago. I don't know how they did. So Nintendo is taking advantage, they think that people will praise them no matter what. Well I'm not falling for this dirty trick.
GOOD SIR basically they did a trojan horse thing to get their consoles into consumers homes and pushed back the PC master race.

I’d like to hope so, but I want to hear what you guys think too
well i'll be damned if we don't have SNES games by Smash's release.
If they would've brought the rumored service where you had the whole virtual console from the wiiu and were able to pick out 2-3 games a month or even just one, that would've saved it
I doubt they will understand the backlash. but we can hope
I personally don't see anything worth paying for.
Me too

Never said it was a good reason
SCTcrafty Even though most kids know how to get the app, use their own phones, and log in 🤔
they werent worried about that, worried about parents hearing people cuss in games and getting sued or some crap
whats going on You can still talk to strangers through the app. Kind of pointless.
actually online interactions are not rated by the ESBR

I guess we can agree that Nintendo makes incredible stories and adventures, but not incredible software.
I feel that some body is gonna get triggered about me claiming nintendo can't make "incredible software" so I should clarify
Nintendo has made some almighty hardware and software in the past, but compared to companies like Xbox and Sony, those guys' tech is so advanced to where you start to wonder why the hell Nintendo Switch can barely handle Minecraft in 4player mode in 2018, or something like that.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. Despite their amazing games, Nintendo has been falling behind with their consoles since the N64.
Chriss Richter
You're right, i think i meant to type hardware instead of software
'Cause when i meant software, i was thinking about the services, programs and the visuals on screen, i didnt mean the components of the actual physical product, unless online is a physical thing
Stick to doing that damn it!

to makes things worse, as a game with the "online" tag on it, Splatoon is designed as a sinlge player with Co-Op, item stat rolls and all that stuff is done Client side rather than by the servers, and the matches are Peer to Peer rather than an official dedicated server like it should be. not only does it show Nintendo's Lack of experience with Online play, but also their lack of care for consumers
Nintendo can and should do better. I just hope there’s enough backlash to get them to make some corrections to the service.
+Manny Mystery Nintendo is like a half deaf grandpa. They like to make you happy and sometimes they REALLY spoil you, but you gotta tell them what you want a few times before they can hear you. Nojatha I couldn’t have said it any better!

Nintendo is always kinda bad with their pricing, I don't want to pay ridiculous prices for old games, and the lack of cloud saves is a no go for me.

4. A decent voice chat
5. FLIPPING NETFLIX UA-cam AND OTHER WEBSITES
And ideally it would cost only £10
Olopaxx it will not be $10
As someone who has bought the Nintendo Switch Online service, I have to say that the service is pretty bad.
Also fyi “a good thing isn’t free”
Discord is free and it’s a hell of a lot better than what Nintendo’s offering.

That would be like nintendo saying " Yeah, all that gear? All those levels, all those spells? Yeah KISS ALL THAT GOODBYE CUZ YOU FORGOT TO PAY FOR THE ONLINE SERVICE!"
isnt that how ps gold works to for cloud storage ^^

Nintendo gave an update that it's 6 months.
I wish some Nintendo Reps could see this video...
Nintendo Japan is the decision maker here. I wonder how the overseas people feel about this mess
Items which *will be lost forever if something happens to your save data.* Great job Nintendo.)
Seriously, I had to send my Switch away for repairs, and they did a full factory reset on it (I'm not faulting them for this, there was forewarning and it's just what technicians do), and THIS is when I found out about how Splatoon 2 handles progress *for online multiplayer.* Lv 40 to lv 0, everything gone.
My fave part of the vid was Michael Jackson moonwalking across the screen. God, I miss that man.

Programmer here. The cheating is because incompetent developers not passing security 101. Specifically the lesson about not trusting the client. If the data is stored in the client, then they are doing it wrong. Ranks and items should be stored on the server where cheaters can't touch them and can be backed up by expert server engineers.

It's like they're saying "Remember how much fun it was to play online? Now you have to pay for it. But you got a taste for it now so you will, right?"
Just because I have 20 bucks doesn't mean Nintendo is automaticly entitled to it, especially not when what they're offering is what has always been there.
Exactly
Nintendo said you would have to pay for online in the beginning. And every console requires you to pay for online services way before nintendo so what exactly are you mad about?
Nintendo did make it clear before the switch launch online would not be free forever
@@tylerdurden4389 nintendo hasnt had the requirement of online pay to play forc15 years. They were the one game company that didnt do the financial bull of it. But theyve fallen into the same basket of sony and microsoft.

Mario: wat ಠ_ಠ
How about this: Nintendo makes the online multiplayer free, people will only have to pay for the cloud saves and nes games, lower the price, then add more nes games, and add some more vc games like snes games. It'll be a more bang for your buck kinda thing and you can still play online multiplayer games like Splatoon 2 for free.
Nintendo Switch (Online) why would online be free if online is part of the service name
They need to get rid of it
20$ for lackluster voice chat, lackluster cloud save data because "cheaters," lacking the entirety of the Virtual Console of the 3DS and Wii U, which they should import all over with the addition of possible online additions which they've added to the NES games.
I loved Nintendo for the reason I DIDNT HAVE TO PAY
Pay to play online = Less players because not everyone wants or can spend their money for online gameplay's sake.
Alolan_BDCrobat this.
Alolan_BDCrobat Exactly
*gets a nintendo switch online ad when clicking on the video*
I lost a year worth of saved data on several games including Breath of the Wild when my switch broke and they couldn't recover it. I stopped playing the Switch after than and only recently started using it periodically though I've lost interest in it. I'm mostly on my PS 4 where my games get backed up.
He forgot to mention that Playstation has been doing USB backups for the past 3 generations of consoles. (Not sure about xbox, but cloud saving is FREE and INFINITE.)
Oh yeah, they actually *did* get rid of Virtual Console.
Even more amazing.
Where do you live that the switch and a game is $600?. The exchange rate in Canada is awful and the console plus a game only cost $460
Where tf are you paying 600$ for a switch?
Nintendo also shouldn't be assuming everyone has access to a phone (like me). You're paying quite a lot to talk to people.
I don't use it to talk to ppl
Woah woah, it’s 2018 and you don’t have a phone? Are you Amish? With a Nintendo? But no phone? :D
Easy save would be the addition of SNES and N64 games
but its 2018 dosent everyone have a phone im not defending Nintendo I hate the switch voice chat and online
Kinda weird to have internet with no phone, but meh...
well, time to bring back out my wii...........
Ikr, tbh I only got a 3ds, ds and wii. I need to get the wii u...
The main thing we need is DEDICATED SERVERS, & I guess cloud saves for all games too.
In my opinion the real thing we need is to #GetRidOfNintendoSwitchOnline but not get rid of nes games but make it so you have to buy them from the e shop but then the switch would be better than it is now
If ultimate's online is going to be just as bad as the 3ds and Wii u, they are going to get ripped a new one.
+Nicholas Dunlop Let's hope online battles in Ultimate will be fast and better.
I doubt it will be better if they don't have ded. servers for the game
@@VinnigsSpinTheBlock they didn't *spoil* smash, but I do understand the anger about not having mystery characters.

how should the revert your ranking thing even work?
Games are played peer-to-peer, and all of the data is stored locally. and yet they harp on about preventing cheaters when they leave an insanely obvious vulnerability there that isn't found anywhere else in the modern age.
but then how are ranklists supposed to work? I mean you cant really get a global ranklist if there is no place to store it.
iirc the data syncs up with the app so thats how they work out a global ranking list (which is why splatnet info doesnt change unless u boot up the game with internet access), the app doesnt care about the sudden influx of cheated stats tho.. but yeah the ranking is stored locally due to having no actual servers for the games.
It came out 2 days before my birthday 😭 am I a cursed being? Also I may sell my Switch and just play on my PC from now on. I’m so mad.
The cloudsaves wont be immediately erased @2:45 . They will be available for 6 months. Nintendo Online still sucks tho
This IS a thing, but I'm pretty sure they added that as a response to people saying the Cloud Saves system sucked. Either way, it could serve as a way of showing that Nintendo is listening to their consumers.
It's people like you that fuel Nintendo's dark-ages policy on save-data / general technical features
Where is the USB save option?? is this a crime to have a file-backup system from 1996 feature on our £300 devices of 2018??
netweed09 i only corrected something false
it's not a correction if it's so pointless in the big picture of things; look i understand - but Nintendo don't need any form of apologists right now - it could have been for 60 or 600 months point is thatnnet for the lifespan of your account YOU STILL CANNOT SAVE TO A BLOODY USB FLASH LIKE YOU COULD ON CONSOLES SINCE 2003

Wait a little while until you pay. Maybe a week or two, because that’s what I’m doing. Maybe Nintendo will get their heads out out of their armpits.

if they disable cloud saves in splatoon because they fear cheaters, they will NEVER allow local save data backups. BUT i don't see how they're unable to keep track of ranks and item trades on THEIR servers and simply set THOSE stats to the latest state, in case you revert to a backup save game. it would be so simple. it's unbelievable

why don't you people accept it it's only 19:99 $ and you get nes games when i saw that you get nes games i was shook. i wanted it
@@tutterthemouse152 you right, this service is young and cool
This is why I'm holding off on buying Nintendo Switch Online. I want the service to really improve before I buy into it.

The issue is that the Nintendo switches with a Tegra graphic card are easy as hell to mod.
...The GPU isn't related to the save files at all.
Nintendo went corporate to the max after the switch release. $80 for some cardboard wrapped in a Nintendo logo already scream "hey just give us that money already"
