Just beautiful. What a transformation. You are very patient and kind in the way you teach. I love how you used Simra's name and the instructions in the songs. What a special touch! I have taught music to intellectually disabled high school students in the past (no where nearing the feats that Simra has before her). It was always a joy. It doesn't matter whether the students have 'special needs' or not- I would always see great developments and progress when using music to train the brain and body (as long as it is taught in a meaningful way). After 30 years in music education I am now out of the field. I'm hoping to work with dementia patients (as a volunteer) in the future as I live in the moment these days so I won't be asking these older Australians if they 'remember' something from one week to the next. Heck! I can barely remember one week to the next! Again, bravo! I wish you well as you bring joy and development to children and parents.
Anyone else get choked up when they heard her voice/sing? I was touched by her progress, wondering what it was like for mom, and imagining the fulfillment the therapist has too!
That touched my heart. I am going to school for Music Therapy and this confirms that I made the right decision.
