- Based on the DC Comics event series of the same name, the CW's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" saga focuses on Batwoman (Ruby Rose), The Flash (Grant Gustin) and Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) as they attempt to prevent Anti-Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) from annihilating the whole of the multiverse. In the salvation process, the heroes align with other icons of DC from the films and television series, including Superman (reprised by Brandon Routh and Tyler Hoechlin).

The writing is still shitty
People over exaggerate about Superman Returns. The movie was good. Honestly, it’s no different than the first film. Superman didn’t throw a single punch in that one either, all he did was clean up Lex’s disasters.
@@anthonyshepherd265 I am perfectly fine with Superman not throwing punches; most situations don't call for that, which is part of the beauty of the character. His powers afford him the luxury of not making moral compromises, which makes him a great character through which to explore ethics in an unusual context. The reasons why Superman Returns didn't quite work had nothing to do with a lack of punching and more to do with a lack of humanity. They tried to turn him into a Space Jesus with mild stalker tendencies. Of course, compared to Man of Steel, he was a total sweetheart, because that movie was even colder, but both failed to really show the warmth of the character. But the casting of Brandon Routh was magnificent.
The Donner Superman had its own flaws, mostly centered around the portrayal of Lex Luthor (which carried over into Returns), but Superman himself was written a lot warmer in the first movie.
I'm still waiting for the definitive Superman movie. The formula is pretty simple. Superman is all about sharing power with the powerless, Lex Luthor is all about hoarding power for himself. Lex, who doesn't believe in altruism, wants people to think Superman has an ulterior motive and is a threat to the planet. Superman has to avoid taking any action that makes it look like Lex is correct. It's a timeless takedown of Randian Objectivism and fearmongering and it can be absolutely riveting and poignant in the right hands, without a single punch thrown at Lex by Superman. Watching Superman punch things is boring; that's too easy. There's a lot more tension in watching Superman hold back because he can't afford to cross any lines.

Gotta love Brandon Routh. The guy just seems so cool and down to earth. You can tell it really hurt him not being able to do a sequel to Returns. I'm glad he's had this chance to return to that character.
Still pissed at the Legends writers for kicking Brandon & Courtney of the show. Ray is one of the best characters in Arrowverse!! And Brandon deserves better

@@NiceRsProductions not true. Brandon made a post that it was not his and Courtney's choice to leave. The writers felt that Ray and Nora's stories had come to an end and wrote them out of the show. Neither of them wanted to leave.

Eh, I'll withhold judgment until I see how they handle the exit. If it's handled well, and the characters are given proper sendoffs, I'll be okay with it.

Not anymore. He’s great as Superman, no doubt ! He wasn’t the only one waiting for that moment, we all did that part ( not sure that was the last one ) script, presence, character intensity all of them he embodied then all., will be the same with cavill after a few years...
He comes across as a genuine and sweet guy and is a perfect fit for the golden-age version of Superman. I have a fond memory of meeting him at a convention about a decade ago and he was humble and kind. Seeing him finally getting the respect he deserves for his portrayal of Superman is fantastic. It's been too long in coming.

I will say this one time, Brandon Routh is the perfect superman, he looks like superman, he sounds like superman, he embodies him wholeheartedly. And he loves playing him. We need a kingdom come movie with Brandon starring in the future on the big screen. To be honest i love henry's superman but not nearly as much as Brandon's superman because he is the one true superman. He was my superman and always will be. I want him back as superman on the big screen. People shit on superman returns which i dont get but i think it was the writing and production of the movie that wasn't as good as the originals or some would say current superman movies. his portrayal was spot on in my opinion, his clark kent portrayal was literal gold. He needs to return to the big screen as superman.

I personally find Brandon Routh so much better than Henry Cavill as Superman. Brandon gives so much more to Superman, Clark and in the scenes with his mother, as Kal-El. His posture is different, his mannerisms, even his smile is different as one or the other. Cavill is handsome and buff but he doesn't do that; he's the same guy whether he's in his Super suit or his Clark clothes. He was fun to watch in Man from UNCLE but he's not Superman. Brandon Routh is Superman.

Exactly i know right! And both he and Courtney are pretty vocal that it wasn't their decision. Like for Prof Stein, Snart and even Ollie, the actors were ready to leave so were written out. But now with Nora in the pic i feel there is so much stories to tell between them!!! Hope it gets finished this season.....though it won't feel enough!!!
If he sticks as Kingdom Come Superman then Brandon leaving Legends is not a worry. Surely the people behind the scenes must be overwhelmed by the insane reaction everyone is experiencing and expression for Brandon as Superman, the only TRUE Superman that makes Tyler look like nothing (sorry, Tyler I'm sure you are a nice guy but THAT guy IS Superman).
@@EAprima Yep, he really turned on that movie star quality. And he gave everyone a taste of what they've been missing with the old school Superman persona. Not angry Superman or hormonal Superboy. Honestly feels like there was a collective Arrowverse swoon when he gave that speech to Arrowverse. Poor Lois forgot about her Kal-El for a few, and it looked to me like The Monitor fell hard as well.
@@kellentia Its possible Nora Darkh gets pregnant, which makes Ray doubt his life as a Legend and on the Waverider, witnessing first hand what has happened to Stein and Oliver couldn't be a father either due to being the Green Arrow. Maybe this is the reason both Nora and Ray leave and frankly, i will be okay with that and Nate had a shitty childhood because of his grandfather being Commander Steel and not being there for Nate's father.
Growing up with Christopher Reeves as my beloved Superman I was saddened to not have another Superman that embodied that type of kind spirit and look of Clark Kent mixed with the gentle fierceness that was Superman.
Brandon Routh and my dreams were realized. To me Brandon will always be Superman! I just wish they had given him a better script and movie to be a part of so he could have reprise his role earlier and Ben the true Man of Steel we know he is. No shade on Henry Cavill. He's a great Superman in his on way. But I wanted to watch crisis on infinite Earths because Brandon being Superman again.

Superman has gone through various incarnations. Recall that in the Supergirl show, he says she is the stronger of the two of them in one episode. Btw, the actor is only 32 years of age. As popular as the Smallville show was, Weller doesn't look like the traditional Superman. Though they like to say he never wore the outfit to match the story, I believe that was a good excuse given that he is well, a bit heavier now like Dean Cain.
I've said it for years, Brandon Routh, is a GREAT Superman! I'd love to see him portray his version of Kingdom Come Superman in his own movie or TV series.

I would love to see Brandon Routh back in the cape as superman more than just this crossover he deserves it. He didn't get a great script in Superman Returns. He played a great Superman/Clark Kent in that movie, the writing was just not strong. but in my opinion he STILL ,to me, embodies everything that Superman is, and always will be. I hope that he gets his own show in some respect, even if it were to be a kingdom come Superman movie because that is not a story that has been done in film.
Superman Returns was an underrated movie. Growing up with Reeves as Superman, Brandon nailed the role so good that it had literally brought tears to my eyes. I was disappointed that he didnt get to explore the character more, and I believe us fans missed out on someone that would have done justice to the character. Brandon is a great actor and I enjoy watching his performances. Thanks so much for your great ability as an actor.

@@humaneIP You're probably miffed about the ''No Suit'' thing because you have zero understand of the idea behind that. So in case you didn't know but it wasn't Tom Welling's decision. The ''No Flights, No Tights'' rule was made by the showrunners ingbefore the first episode of Smallville was filmed. And that's because it wasn't a show about Superman and never was going to be.
So when Welling was approached they pitched him a Superman show and he rejected because he wasn't interested in that. But he had a more in depth talk with the showrunners themselves who explained to him that it wasn't a Superman show. And when he asked about suiting up and flying and all that stuff. They said that it was a absolute NO-GO. And he agreed with that decision.
People really need to learn to do some digging before blaming everything on Tom Welling.

I saw Tom Welling during 10 long years in smallville series, the last season(10) I saw it live from USA television, but I LIKED more Brandon Routh as Superman even if he only played him once ever.
It was great to see Tom again on the Crisis crossover, but disappointing at the same time he wasn’t that interested on playing Superman anymore.

I still can't get over the fact that the Legends execs essentially fired Brandon and Courtney. I can only imagine it was for budgetary reasons but it was such a stupid decision. They decide to keep some of the other really pointless and annoying characters but decide to get rid of Ray, who is the heart of the show, and Nora, who is easily the best new character in the last couple of seasons. I feel pretty certain that they will come to regret it and the fact that he has been the shining highlight of the crossover so far just lends more credence to that. Routh clearly isn't happy about it and it takes a lot to piss off someone like Routh as he never fails to let people know that it wasn't his decision to leave. I hope we see him back in the Arrowverse soon.

Laura Reyes Maybe! I think they might just be waiting to take a look at the ratings. Otherwise they would have made a final season announcement if it was ending for sure. Plus, given that Arrow and Supernatural are ending, I don’t think the CW will necessarily get rid of another one of their big name shows.
That’s so freaking obnoxious!!!! Keeping the Arrow characters in DCL is like a piece of Arrow that lives on. The writers are idiots... there are so many things they could’ve done with Ray’s character...

It worked to certain extent tbh but studio didn't feel the same.
Brandon was not the reason It didn't work. The script, studio interference has been the reason why the movie didn't work.
Brandon did a great job. He is a great Clark Kent and Superman. But the decision on the story for his movie in hindsight was very odd. They decided to make a sequel to the second Superman and erase the others...but with an entirely new cast. This isn't the same as other movies who did it but with the same cast. With SO many years in between his movie and the originals, they really had a chance to do the origin story. It's okay to do an origin story when it had been such a long time.
Put it to you this way. It took 13 years, but it did work because so many people like us loved seeing him onscreen again as Superman.
WB should ride the wave on this one and do a Kingdom Come Superman on the big screen with Brandon Routh. This world can have a connection with the CW DC TV.

Seeing the 2006 version back on screen is simply amazing. Brandon Routh, great actor, is great to see him reprising this character.
I know that Brandon and Courtney are set to leave the Legends but I hope the CW and WB still give him something for the fans even after next year. Maybe a spin-off or a crucial part in the Tyler-Elizabeth spin-off. Hopefully! 💪🏻

I thought I was not going to disassociate Ray Palmer from Superman because Brandon Routh has played Ray longer (more seasons?) but he did a fantastic job with both characters. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that they fired the best actor (and character) on the show. But I find the show amazing, funny as hell, and absolutely insane. Loved his Chuck role when he "turned" agent Shaw - great villain. He made a perfect heroic Superman - deserved more "better written" movies. 180 with the the Atom and the geeky persona. Dylan Dog was really good too. Wish him nothing but interesting and unique successful roles in the future.

@Omar Stone So far, the only actor under 6ft who has played Superman is Dean Cain, in the 90s TV show Lois & Clark: the New Adventures of Superman. I know Tyler Hoechlin looks small next to Brandon Routh, but he´s actually 6´1 (he´s taller than people like Vin Diesel, and about the same height as Henry Cavill).
