You guys are spot on with your assessment of where this stands. I got the sx xline bc of the mix of not needing a huge suv but still have the capability of 3 row for the few times a year. I couldnt bring myself to get a 2 row suv only. My brother has the telluride but has a larger family so I couldn’t justify getting the same.It really does have great acceleration for an suv ( the turbo lag is there in sport mode but to me it adds to the fun of driving it) and with pretty decent mpg. The side profile really I think stands up to most suvs beside the luxury sports performance tier which is surprising to say for a Sorento. This does the “casual” off road as well with the combined practicality makes this perfect for the person who doesnt the need biggest size but still wants something fun and stylish. I was skeptical about only offering v4 but your not getting this for true performance and competing w the trackhawk, st, srt. For way less and without sacrificing gas mileage you really can’t go wrong with this and of course the warranty is unmatched.
Great video. Kia and Hyundai have just been killing it for so long. I think people are finally noticing.
Man, looks great in that green color.
Smoke green and stay safe
FWIW: Upgraded from a 2014 Nissan Rogue SL AWD to a 2022 Sorento X-Line SX-Prestige AWD (2.5T). Very impressed! Very fun to drive with plenty of power in AWD. Much bigger than our Rogue, FAR more power and tons of useful features. Having gotten used to the Rogue's CVT, driving this car in "Smart Mode" w/DCT is fine - you just have to learn how the car works with its power-band (nice) and YOUR driving style (I have one month in on it). Since we are empty nesters, we leave the 3rd row seats down (or even just part of it) much of the time and it has tons of rear room in that mode. The Sorento has 500lbs more weight over the Rogue but I can't feel it at all. I also got a dealer upgraded power train warranty from 100K miles to 200K miles at no cost. Not a fan of the piano black trim due to the dust and fingerprints. It would be better if it were matte. The 2022 did add memory seats with 4-way lumbar and thigh extender, heated 2nd row seats, a real spare tire and the Canadian models have heads up display, 3rd row rear AC and 2nd row window shades along with additional terrain mode we don't get in the USA. Did have to pay $4K over MSRP due to shortages.
Todd, If you're going to solve the vent problem you first need to get automakers to bring back the vent under the steering wheel, aka the cool crotch vent.
Love the color combination and the design! The set of four vents in the center remind me of the taillight/bumper/rear fascia of some car from the late 60's or early 70's....
I don’t think I’ve ever seen you both in the car at the same time. The looks on your face as a reaction to what the other is saying is priceless!
Every DCT needs paddle shifters!!! They are so important in smoothly bringing the speed down. And it saves the brakes. I been driving DCT since 2006. Wish the Seltos, Kona and the VW Taos had paddles.
great video. nice review
First gen Sorento was visually incredible. I disagree that this is the first one that looks the part
The main purpose not to move up to a tulliride is the mpg. I just got the hybrid and average at least 34mpg and mostly city driving. That's amazing as the previous ride was a Honda fit. I cannot praise kia enough.
I love driving my sorento sx awd. So much fun. It can be subdue or it can be a monster when in sport mode.
The hybrid or plug in hybrid verison is our next family vehicle. Well rounded right sized great value if you don't absolutely need 7 seats all the time
As a man who sweats heavy so easliy I’m with TODD on the A/C delemia! Too bad it still has the old KIA logo. I think the new one on the hood would make a astetic difference. They have the new LOGO on the Carnival.
Bring back the GM crotch vent. I miss that from my B bodies.
I suspect they figure vented seats so....
But how long before you have to replace the engine?
I would like to see a review of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander compared to the Sorento.
I don’t know if I need the X model, but that green is gorgeous. How do you feel about underbody and rust coating with this Kia versus a Mazda? We had a Mazda five recently. If you look at the wrong way, it might develop a rust spot.
This car is perfect
Come out to west Texas and drive on oil field roads…
Hahaha 😂. You got a point.
Just bought the 2022 Kia Sorento X .... *LOVIN IT* Gravity Grey exterior .... 😁👌👍👍👍🤏
Well done. Not big enough for me but a nice review
The telluride feels antiquated compared
If the VW Tiguan R came to North American that would be my first choice, despite the ridiculous haptic controls and much lower quality interior. Anyway, do the rear windows go all the way down?
Looks nice. Not a fan of the 4 banger!
Except @ 280 hp, these are not your dad's 4 banger. Also, fuel economy.
That road looks incredibly plebeian.
Nice review it’s crap if the crap
Suggestion: consider publishing a shorter version of your reviews in addition to the normal length. Having an option for “just the facts” or highlights on vehicles with lower interest would be helpful. It could also increase your watch hours.
There are plenty of 5 minute videos out there. It's a car review. 20 minutes is actually short.
That triangular shark fin behind the rear door serves no function and in fact restricts visibility. Style over substance, something which Euro carmaker say VW will not do. In short euro design is stil better than Korean.
That's on the pillar of the car, so whether the shark fin is there or not has zero change to visibility.
@@JDetailingca you dont have to have that fin that's the point. The German won't do that as It does restrict visibility. Korean still needs to learn from German's best!
@@valentinorossi7771 Its on the pillar. It doesn't change visibility one bit. There is a solid pillar behind it. Even still, usually you can't see out of the third row window from the drivers seat regardless.
@@JDetailingca Well I never go inside the car but from the outside it looks like that "fin" is more for styling "trend". I would like it much better without that fin. VW Tiguan and Volvo XC90 exterior look "cleaner" and more purposeful
No, they do fake exhaust and vents instead. Really guy? VW was my first choice, but not the best example anymore.
It looks good with a horrible engine and transmission combo. Stay away. Get a Honda Passport or Jeep a grand Cherokee.
How about the non turbo charged engine in the xline S? Is that a better option albeit the lack of pick up?
