Those are original locomotives painted in the original paint scheme the only surviving New Haven locomotive being FL-9's I am sure they're not going to be scrapped. Probably going to an operating museum.
Those two FL-9s are on the move to the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, their new home. The FL-9s were named cookies and cream
Cool
@@WideWorldofTrains why are they called cookies and cream?
@@lainetuason1732the Grapevine Railroad named them that way. Idk why they chose cookies and cream for their FL9s.
We forgot new haven 2019 named
They are now on Grapevine Vintage Railroad in TX :)
Those are beautiful locomotives
Yes they are!
These engines are legends & dear to my heart i grew up watching them in action in Bronx, New York & later rode them first on Amtrak. From their NEW HAVEN, PENN CENTRAL, CONRAIL, METRO NORTH, then the retro Mcguinness paint scheme owned by Conndot ( Connecticut Department Of Transportation) I'm tired of seeing mostly all these engines getting scrapped that brings me to tears. I have a few models of FL 9 custom rebuilds from ATHEARN from SD 9 chassis I have had since the 1990's many need restoration then 1 AMTRAK in RAPIDO HO scale. I saw the video of the M 2 CONN DOT cars towed away by CSX and weren't heading for glory i'm afraid. No scale models were ever built of that set except the
M 1 cars on MN & LIRR. Allen i'm glad you caught these 2 engines of the last EMD FL 9 built by GM in 1960 when the design Bulldog face & nose was later discontinued. 😢😢
Wow 👌

What is wrong with those beautiful classics going to a museum and be preserved?

i bet those FL-9s havent gone that fast in eons❗nice to see them getting the spider webs out of the axles❗
Oh yeah 😎 😏
@@WideWorldofTrains Eons ago, Fairbanks-Morse produced similar locimotives, also with the same wheel/axle arrangement, but there were several differences, #1, the Fairbanks-Morse prime mover was better suited for use in submarines due to one bank of the opposed pistons overheating. While units of both makers had the same "B-A-1-A trucks configuration the EMD versions were set up so the 3rd rail pick-up shoes could use both inner and outer 3rd rails, as the New Haven used NYC electrified trackage into Grand Central Station. The NH units also had unusual sounding "air whistles" instead of horns, and as proven in your video, the EMD units have lasted long enough to operate again, as they were on their way to a newly formed tourist road.
NICE CATCH WIDE WORLD OF TRAINS! Keep up your amazing work!!
Thanks! Will do!
