It was in August 1973 when Mwalimu announced the move to Dodoma. In 1978 a tz delegation went to Pakistan to borrow a leaf from Pakistanis after moving from Karachi to Islamabad. On coming back the Kagera war started. The war delayed the move till 1996 when the Parliament and Prime Ministers Office were moved to Dodoma. 20 yrs later 2016 the move was given a new impetus. As they put it the rest is history.
That dagaa it's a Swahili original name but omena is jaluo language even at some of Mara region in Tanzania called it omena. Thank you for exploring Dodoma for us 👍

Dodoma doesn't receive rain regularly. It is referred to as semi desert. It is also dry and not so green compared to other regions
