    Nice find. I have the brother of the Magna. The V65 Sabre. Had to get a parts bike for backup parts. Be safe on that beast.

    as an inexperienced magna owner i feel these videos are seriously invaluable. thanks for the ongoing series and congrats on getting it acting like a real v65! got back from a 60 mile ride today and looked back in my garage positively beaming at how fun these bikes are.

      I was giggling like a schoolgirl every time I twisted the throttle - power is insane, closest I can remember to this was my Blackbird we used to call those 'Dial-A-Speed' as you never really needed to change gear, just twist the throttle and full power, this bike feels the same. I have a V45 too which for a 750 has plenty of poke, but this bike, well lets put it this way, any doubt I had about getting a new rear tyre - gone, with this much power I want the peace of mind of having fresh sticky rubber

    Great ! Thanks a lot for another well detailed demonstration on "how to". The hint about the rubbers away first is gold +.
    One Piece (alias 10000 things) is happy now. And Old Honda mAn too.
    I'm strictly involved into clearing my VT500 for an engine removal. The torn off screw at the cam bearing is fixed. And believe it or not, I also got the valve covers off without removing the entire engine. New gaskets wilco. Some O-rings still missing. Soon they'll be on the way. BUT, guess what, I have a hole in the frame where the brake pedal is mounted. Rust never sleeps. It goes all the way through from lateral to medial. Either hard solder or welding will be done. The Specialist said "zero problem for save stability when done.
    Also props to the camera operator 👏. Always close to the point.

It was parked up for so many years that the brake fluids etc were badly clogged up even though the engine is running. It has 24,000 on the clock .it was never taxed in Ireland so I am the first . Hope to get it out on the road soon !

      You just never see these any more, the road is full of 1970's CB750's, the Barn that this came out of also had a V65 Sabre and a Bol'Dor, I should have bought both of those too. Chap at A14 Salvage who sold me this one almost didnt buy the bikes from that Barn as they are outside his usual age range, glad he did, the Sabre was stripped for parts and the Bol'Dor shipped to the US

    • @ThatOldHonda

      The magna has both, its not a faux tank, it has the aux tank simply to give you a reserve (has a sensor in it) without a tap - the main tank has a huge hose going from it to the reserve and a vent tube

      @@ThatOldHonda it's an educational thing....I know you know. But not everyone knows...two things, one they are available. And a simple way to understand or help to understand design is to have a look at a parts break, down via online resources. I'm considering one of these bikes and the fact that they're almost 40 years old, Knowing of parts availability, is a part of the decision making process, for me anyway. No need to be sarcastic 😉.

      @ThatOldHonda  4 місяці тому

      @@raynic1173 Apologies, wasnt meant to be sarcastic. I am always willing to learn and I know I make a lot of mistakes, but you are seeing my learning process, I dont not post video's because I make mistakes, I share that - example, on early video for the V65, I put it in gear and sat on it and rocked it to turn the engine over - then forgot to take it out of gear, put it on its side stand, and bridged the starter solenoid with a screwdriver and it shot off its stand and crashed onto the floor and broke the indicator - but I then video'd me telling everybody what I had done. I am learning on camera, I need people to tell me what I am doing wrong. Some stuff I know how to do and have learned, others, I just take em appart and figure it out, so I do appreciate your comments and yes I do have the manual I use it all the time.... kind of, I like the challenge of figuring it out and sometimes I get it wrong :)

    What did you clean the reserve with on the bike? Muriac acid, vinegar...and how good it did come up?

    • @ThatOldHonda
      @ThatOldHonda  6 місяців тому +1

      Muric acid may be the answer, what seems to be in there is bad fuel dried and stuck to the sides. Evapo-rust didnt touch it, household oven cleaner did, I still need to dismantle the back end and take the aux tank out and do it properly as I am still getting some dirt in the new filter, just wanted to prove the engine was good and it was just a fuel starvation issue, gonna ride it around for a while, keep cleaning the filter for now and just see how it goes, I suspect it has to come off and as you say something a bit more lethal put in to dissolve the residue

    That Old Honda Man ;). Great videos. Respect and appreciation. Please assist. My Tako/ Rev counter is not operating. Could it be the electronics as apposed to the instrument? Thanks. Dennis

    • @ThatOldHonda
      @ThatOldHonda  5 місяців тому

      Hey, not much to this circuit, but essentially it runs from one of the CDI's, so assuming you have spark at all 4, you should have a signal to the rev counter - check connection/plug on the CDI, clean them with contact cleaner, I would however suspect the instrument, the good news if you need a replacement is rev counters are normally much cheaper than speedometers. you can check the signal with a meter at the rev counter end to see if you are getting signal to the gauge

    • @dudemakingtracks
      @dudemakingtracks 5 місяців тому

    • @ThatOldHonda
      @ThatOldHonda  5 місяців тому

      @@dudemakingtracks Assuming you are in US there are loads on ebay for around $50 - but check your spark first, you would be surprised how many people I have helped who thought they were running on 4 but had a CDI fault and once running on 4 found a whole new bike hiding inside the one they thought they had - if this thing isnt pulling your arms off on acceleration, something is wrong :)
