  • I was on a Safari at Masai Mara National Park in Kenya for the “Great Wildebeest Migration”. Every year during the season of the Great Migration the animals must risk crossing many rivers to get to the grass that they badly need in order to survive. If these animals do not get to their source of food they can die.
My video shows the amazingly strong will of animals to live at the Masai Mara National Reserve.
I was watching this hunt from our truck in Kenya side while filming the video. It was very difficult to watch and witness in person. I did feel very bad for the suffering that the giraffe went through. In no way do I wish to disrespect this giraffe. I will never forget how hard these animals fought to live and not give up. It makes me feel an even greater respect for life and all living things. Life is so fragile and precious. This happens every day in the wild where no one can see the intense struggle to live that goes on. Masai Mara National Reserve, like many of the wild places left in this world, is beautiful and harsh. It was hard to watch the giraffe being eaten and do nothing. However, there was no way I could have intervened to save the giraffe from her fate. The Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya does not permit interference and no guns are allowed into the National Park.
I am not a professional photographer. I basically just pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and started recording. However, it does make the video footage even more amazing. I believe that National Geographic would love to get such videos. I'm sure National Geographic videographers carry around tens of thousands of dollars of equipment to film animals While on safari. I did not have an expensive camera like large professional productions use. There was also a lot going on during the filming. The wind was blowing, and we had been waiting out in the sun for many, many hours. I was kind of exhausted at this point in the truck. There was nowhere to put a camera stand.
When I tried to breathe, I took shook the phone while I was recording. I was holding my breath for long periods of time trying not to shake the phone/camera.
This is an educational video that I wanted to share with everyone.
If you look at my nature videos you can see that I try to show extraordinary and beautiful things, even in harsh conditions.

This type of Safari is called a "Game Drive". The local African guide in this video that I used was a tribal man named Johnathan Lenjir. Jonathan took me to see this amazing zebra attack by crocodiles. Johnathan is a Maasai Warrior from the Maasai tribe in Kenya. Johnathan Lenjir would be happy to take you on this very same safari in Africa. He is very affordable.

I guess we will have to take your word for it, that the lions were eating the giraffe in the background of the beginning of the video. You could have just uploaded the actual hunt.

In one of the documentary i saw, they showed a full grown giraffe defending itself from some pack of lions. The narrator said, even they can take down a full grown giraffe and then a clip was shown where the lions were eating a giraffe but this was not the bull giraffe which was shown before.
