Lions don't keep their sons with them. Sons are chased out the pride about age 2 sometimes a bit earlier or later. It may happens that the pride is soon after taken over by other males forcing the father to flee. Sometimes after fleeing he finds his son or sons that he recently chased out. They will form a bond only if the sons are not mature enough to take over a pride of their own. They stay with dad because he's able to help to defend them as well as hunt.

Very wrong to say they attack the Buffalo 'just because they can'. Lions hunt for a reason = to eat. Do you visit your fridge, stove or grocery cupboard just because you can?
Seems it was not just because they could but rather because they needed to eat. Odd how the first buff was rescued by his friend, but in the end a lion distracted one while his companion pounced on the buff.
Why are there not one, but TWO buffalos with broken/ badly injured legs in this herd? That is a little unusual, plus the killed buffalo seems to have had a hernia. Are so relatively many injured buffalos common in that locality?
