The title gives the impression that something is WRONG with the EMU Black so it's a tad clickbaity, BUT this information is fantastic. I'm considering an ECU Master solution for my R32 GTR. MAP and Flex Fuel are in my future!
I have one in my 3vzfe (3.0L v6) powered 1991 Toyota MR2 and it's totally worth it! This black Friday or Christmas I'm throwing in an ADU 7 and possibly Bluetooth with Team viewer remote tuning.
For the money this is hands down the best stand-alone I have used to date. My grudge car (18xxHP turbo LSX) is still running FuelTech, and I don’t have anything bad at all to say for that system, it has some data capabilities that the Black system does not offer so for no prep and grudge it’s a better choice for me. But when I decided to build another import (88x99 K24 on a Gen 2 6766) just for leisure racing I went with this system and couldn’t be happier. The tune is dialed in perfectly and though this car doesn’t see the street, it could easily be streetable with this EMS.
When you rip into it Andre I'm interested to see what you think of the "road dyno" function seems like a great idea to me has all the data that would make sense like mass drag etc ...
Good for almost any engine, as long as you don't have more than 2 variable camshafts. (To be fair, most ECUs at this price can't do it) That excludes newer EJ20's or EZ30 engine with double AVCS. Technicaly VR input count is sufficent. Hope it can actualy be improved with just software. update.
I checked this out when the give-away was announced and was rather impressed with it - except for one thing - a single lambda input. I would have expected two, for those running V engines and/or dual blowers - but, as that wouldn't apply to me, I'm hoping for an eventual box in the mail ;-)
Seems it has all the same features as the other more expensive units at a better price point. ATS racing uses ecu master for their mr2/3sgte builds and stand by them multiple 800+whp builds
Awesome video, so glad I found it. I'm currently looking at the emu black for my Toyota aristo. My local performance garage is an emu dealer so I have already seen the ecu it's self, it's tiny compared to a link or syvecs and the laminated pinout card is such a good ideal!!!! The pre-terminated blank harness that is also available for the emu black is definitely worth buying.
There's a big lack of documentation and the manual seems comprehensive but lacks essential information, in the features is said that it does odd fire, i'm actually building a 90 degree V twin engine and can't find any information on how to set it up
Would you be able to use an ecu like this in an older model engine? Like an obd1 ecu, I have a old 80s ford 351w I want to build and update parts, I’m leaning more towards an ecu like this but not sure how well it would work
