I had the same noise too in my '09 335i with 115Kms. It started a week ago. I took off the serpentine belt and the sound went away. Turns out the three bolts for my power steering pulley were loose, and the pulley was slapping back and forth against the power steering pump. I installed new bolts and used Loctite to hopefully prevent this from happening again. My pulley mating surface was a bit chipped up from the slapping so I'll replace that soon.
Turn the car off immediately and have the oil pan dropped and inspect the bearings. Had the same thing for me and the engine shut off. Or take off the oil filter and look for metallic flakes for shredded rod bearings.

Sean White doesn’t sound like it’s that. Rod knock is literally like a hammer to the engine. And it comes more from where the crank is at.
I hope this only the reason 😅
