Robert Palmer’s reaction to the first question was priceless. I loved his answer. He was a no-nonsense guy.

Bernard Edwards of Chic . His Albums and Hit Single Producers must get his shares of credits

Robert Palmer had the greatest respect for Bernard Edwards and had a lot of positive comments about him. I suspect Robert learned producing from him before he did his own. Had Robert Palmer not died, he may have opened his own recording studio, I think in Milan. Without Mr. Edwards’ influence I don’t think that would have been possible.
Tony Thompson, the drummer in Chic and then in Power Station with Robert Palmer, died a few weeks after Robert Palmer due to cancer at age 48. Bernard Edwards died at age 43 in 1996 of pneumonia. They were each very respected power houses in their field and died too young.
