I think that it is really great that you are chronicling these historical homes of the Beatles. You are keeping the memories of them from being lost in time. Thank you!
.....John Lennon was a man of his time. One of the first super rich Rock Stars. New York then, was less formal and easier to go unrecognised. Also away from the UK press.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT ABOUT KEEPING THE PARK FOR HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS BUT A VERY SAD MOVE I THINK IT WAS DOWN TO A CERTAIN YOUNG LADY ! WHAT LOVE CAN DO HEY.
It’s strange that in 1971 both Yoko and John were very sure that they didn’t want to leave England or this house. I think the issue that kick started when Kyoto was kidnapped. Lennon didn’t consider that he was really selling it when it was passed to Ringo and Ringo said he kept a room for John. All property is hard to predict in terms of value - it’s mostly hindsight game.
The main reason that its worth 10s of millions its because John owned, and not that kitsch pool cover or the cheesy sofas. He moved to new york cause there is where things happened for an artist in the 70s. We did not had internet. You had to shake certain hands and be seen in certain parties. You cannot invest in a solid solo career in your little boat in your fake lake. He lost money? No. He bought for 45.000 pounds and selled for Ringo for millions. And what about the money he made by shaking those hands I mentioned in NYC? The albums he recorded and selled by BEING in new york making business? A fence with grass in it, with a white house and away from the city is a retirement option, and retirement was not what John was looking for. His heirs benefited much more from the royalties he still keep making selling the songs he wrote than a piece of land.
I think, such a property will cost millions every year just to maintain them on a daily level. And I think this was the reason for selling it. Why paying millions every year just to keep a house he was hardly using? Even rich people have to look at the money, otherwise they do not stay rich.
That is why the interest of the artist will continue to be valid and producing because at the end of the day he is like a street artist but in the big leagues, playing, playing and playing and, in his case, composing as well. That is why the interest of the artist continues to be valid and producing because at the end of the day he is like a street artist but in the big leagues, playing, playing and playing and in his case also composing.
He apparently said NY was expensive, and how much did it cost for his flat there? They had more than one floor, and it was constant servicing. It must have cost millions, too.
As far as I can tell George is really the only Beatle who we know had serious interest in architecture and landscaping. If I had that much money it would be how I spend my days.
I would too. I can't believe someone would want to leave this gorgeous place and live in a noisy, crowded place like NYC. But then I'm a country girl, so I would stay there and ride horses, swim, and live in this pretty place forever.
I have NEVER, understood the attraction for monster estates with monster sized houses. how could anyone call them ''Homes''. Imagine without iphones, trying to find a member of your family , in a place with hundreds of rooms, like Georges place. rediculous. How the hell, did that evil swine who almost murdered George, know where he and His wife were sleeping ? As a investment for the future, maybe. But you could live in a much human -size house, with far safer protection. Still, I'll nevwer have that queery to solve.
John Lennon left nothing to Julian in his will. John Lennons sister was kicked out of her house that Lennon brought for her by Yoko when he died. Every cent he had went to Yoko, Julian had to buy items that had belonged to his Father at auction. As for Cynthia, Lennon gave her virtually nothing in there divorce settlement and discussed beating her during their marriage in a playboy interview not long before he died. Yoko barred Cynthia from attending his funeral.
Lennon was a tremendous performer and song writer but a crappy father to Julian and husband to Cynthia. Is he PUNISHING Julian? He should of felt guilty snd given him a large sum He could well afforded
RINGO PODIA HABER RENTADO LA CASA O UNA PARTE PARA FILMAR PELICULAS, SI ES QUE NO VIVE AHI, ASI LE ALCANZARIA PARA EL MANTENIMIENTO, COMO QUE NO SABEN QUE MARAVILLAS TIENEN, JOHN EN SU TIEMPO Y AHORA RINGO,GEORGE ES EL UNICO QUE VALORO FRIAR PARK, UNA MARAVILLA DE ARQUITECTURA.
Another thing that is interesting, and probably deserve a deeper dive is, Ringo holding on to that piece of land. It didn't look like anything was on the land. No structures, ponds or manicured gardens etc. Only an open grass field. Maybe something buried or structure underneath. Lol. Who knows...
It seems that when Ringo owned the property, he didn't take very good care of it. Remember that he spent most of this period struggling with addictions to drugs and drink. In the few videos from that time, it's visible that the place had become a pasture full of tall weeds, including the lake. The century-old cottage was falling apart. Although the sheikh who bought the property made some strange design choices, he was responsible for saving it. He rebuilt the cottage to what it was and restored the award-winning historic garden. Sorry for my broken English.
😢 People lately are quit to judge boomers and Gen X without thinking about why any of us did what we did. He was a musician, not a real estate agent. However I do like the place now but it would be nice to have a memory or two of John's being as we people are trying to erase us all from history as if we were Hitler.
You say he left the UK for “reasons we will never know,” but I have heard him explain in great detail why he left. Perhaps you can look it up if you’re curious.
If you ask me Lennon sold Tittenhurst simply to stay true to himself and that special song he wrote there before selling it in '71. "Imagine no possessions... I wonder if you can." ☮️
If it were me I’d have restore the property to its female glory, staying true to what it was when John owned it, with updates To bring it more into the future,I definitely wouldn’t have torn down the studio.
It was probably YOKO who influenced John to sell Tittenhurst Park not John as it is evident how happy he was but look at her she was not happy with it.!!!! Its breaking my Heart!!!!!
This is super interesting...I agree... wasn't there at least one person in the Beatle's circle who would encourage one them to keep it? George liked gardening... shoulda had George move in next! Fun video.
As I understand it, if John lennon had come back from the US to the uk at any time, he would have been unable to get back into to the US because of an old UK cannabis conviction, because of the antiquated laws of the time
Interesting Who owns T Park now the same owner?. Which is better T Park or Frayer Park. I like T Park. I think John was difficult to deal with. He was bent on selling and no one could have persuaded him to keep it. Now Paul is a different kettle of fish. He never sold his London property close to Abbey Road.
You can’t say if John Lennon would of the kept the property he wouldn’t have been shot down. 6:41 You’re forgetting that George Harrison was Stabbed in his own similar massive Outside London property.
With all the room in the world, J&Y hardly left their bedroom and the kitchen. Sadly he should have stayed there. Could have being the operative expression but Yoko wanted him away from his friends and family thus moving across the pond.
This was never John Lennon’s kind of home…secluded and isolated. That man belonged to the city. Had he heeded his friend’s concerns and warnings, he would not have wandered about New York city as if it were his private bedroom. He was indeed…more famous than Jesus!
Judas priest recorded their album "British Steel" there. Rob Halford said they had two toilets side by side with John and Yoko's name above each one. He said he could imagine them holding hands, having a poo.
It’s not like John Lennon & Ringo Starr sold the property for cash, and put the cash in the 5% CD earning bank account. & then became renters. John Lennon bought his property at Dakota, which is gone more in proportional more to this property. & likewise with Ringo, he bought other properties to which has also gone up. Its not like they sold the property and became renters for 20 years. And besides, it’s not worth the immense amount of taxes and upkeep for someplace you’re not living in.
As to the comment about John may have not been shot down like a dog had he stayed? Well George and Friar Park and 1999 comes to mind that crazy has no fixed address or nationhood. It is interesting that John never returned to England despite having family there yet he did travel the world in the 1970s..and I do consider perhaps there were threats in the UK towards him that no one dared publicly discuss.
yer but George survived, much easier to do when someone comes at you with a knife rather than a coward with a gun. Also, Lennon never left the US during the 70s part from one sailing to Bahamas in 1980. He was fighting for his green card for half of his time there.
If George's intruder had a gun he would have been killed instantly, like Lennon was. He did not, so they were able to overpower him and Olivia hit him with a table lamp, while the staff called the cops. The GUN was the difference! Lennon was dead before anyone knew what was happening. The difference between John living in the UK and New York!
To bad the Sayre family that owns it today destroyed Johns paintings and other itms. Some people have so little respect for others outside of their inward facing thoughts. What a waste.....

We do know why they relocated. Lennon loved NY. It reminded him of Liverpool.
You should do one on Friar park if you haven't already done. Actually forget what I just said as I have checked your videos and you have done

Absolutely stunning , i love it before & after
Love it!!! However, George did something totally amazing with his pad!!!

GREATLY EXPLAINED THANKYOU YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING THANKYOU FOR THE VIDEO 👍
Taxes on these types of estate are immense
So are The Beatles royalties.
This is an amazing mansion that John Lennon and Yoko Ono,Lennon owned! It must’ve been nice 👍 to live in?Thank you for showing it to us!
This is a lovely mansion! It’s interesting that John Lennon and Yoko Ono,Lennon owned it!It’s a lovely piece of property!
Yes I would live there and I like it the way it is now.
not me.....too much yard work....
Amazing video, and I agree with the commentary in it. I wish John Lennon had never moved to that hellhole, New York.
Lennon was a city boy (Liverpool, Hamburg, London, New York). Country mansions weren’t for him. He always said how much he loved New York.
Which seems odd he purchased this property and built a recording studio.

145,000 pounds.
Yes I have liked shared and subscribed
I wonder if the great tree pictured on the cover of Plastic Ono Band still stands?
John Lennon did not think he would die so young,
In the 80s I doubt ringo could afford the upkeep of such a vast amount of land
Whatever Yoko wanted she got. End of story.
so true

I thought the same. But they sold it cheap.
