I worry about my wife meeting him in heaven, she makes my day was our song. She was the most intelligent, gorgeous lass and yes she fancied him. But i trust each to hold loved ones dear. If i ever get there, she will have arranged our song sung by this gentleman.
I’ve read that he was regarded as the James Bond of Rock n Roll . Such a perfect representation. Some people exude a kind of fascination you can’t help but notice. Class act indeed!
One of the greatest performers of all time. A true talent. When Robert puts his heart and soul in mercy mercy me, you can see his band really get into the groove and put their best behind Robert. What a tragic loss. Rest in peace Robert, you are sadly missed ❤.
Amazing talent. The only one who can do a Marvin Gaye cover and make it his own. I was lucky enough to see him 3 times in concert- every single time he gave 150% . So classy, elegant & cool . Robert Palmer is the James Bond of music. Such amazing talent lost way too soon.
I got to see Mr. Palmer in Memphis, in the mid 80's when "Addicted To Love" was burning up the charts, what a one of a kind legend! RIP, you are missed.
The gentleman rocker. A sensational live performance - sartorial elegance, elevated humanity, and musical brilliance. Everything he sang wasn’t just musically sublime, but also filled with beautiful messages.
The cool thing is how he easily transitioned from "Mercy, Mercy Me" 2 "I Want You" and back again seamlessly. A great interpretation of Marvin's 2 big hits
I have watched lots of interviews with Robert Palmer and he's extremely interesting with an encyclopedic knowledge of music! I appreciated his ironic humor and his shyness was beguiling. He contributed to music and shared his talent with us for 40 years! His premature death deprived us of his brilliance and inspiration.
Jesus, have mercy... Robert Palmer is definitely on my Top 10 All-Time Guy Crushes list. I loved that voice as a kid and miss it as an adult. What a performer!
Robert Palmer put so much quiet intensity into his performances. I suspect he was a deep and thoughtful soul. Intellectual and really in a nmisunderstood league of his own
It's almost like being misunderstood is some kind of badge of honor. Robert Palmer did great covers of great songs by great songwriters. No misunderstanding there. Just blue-eyed soul, pop and rock & roll.
There is something about Robert that's hard to explain. He is so very talented and graceful , classy and one hell of a great singer . An unbelievable singer that can't be matched by anyone. You were the best Robert and you are still the best. We miss you terribly. RIP my friend ☝❤.
I remember watching this ‘live’ and was knocked out by Robert...and the bass player, I do not know who he is, but he is superb(and I am a rhythm/lead guitarist, who just happens to love bass and drums). Thanks for everything Robert., never forgotten.
Yes he should be here with us!!! I will never understand why such talent was not cared for🤨 If he had been my man I would have taken care of him!!!!!🤨🤨💜❤️❤️❤️‼️
I know what you mean. If you watch his last interview, he starts to sweat profusely. He was probably having a small heart attack right there in the interview. His Dr. must have known he was a chain smoker-why didn't they order a stress test on his heart, instead of giving him a clean bill of health days b/4 he died? Such a shame.
I saw Robert palmer in concert in my 20’s I was lucky enough to have experienced this. He was a Class act for sure. Just loved Robert so much. Can’t believe he left this world so young
Oh man, this has to be one of the best music groups of all time. Both Robert and his band sound beyond good. This performance makes me wanna cry tears of joy!
Loved this version of merged classic Marvin Gay songs since the first time I heard it! Robert Palmer, was really in the midst of shooting into super-stardom when he suddenly passed! No one has bested this rendition of the great Marvin classics, & I still tip my hat to the man who performed to "Every Kind of People", in his own very unique way!!
Robert was a Great Singer, damn he died way to young...Man that Bass Player is pretty fuckin Great to, listen to that dude shredding on that Bass...KILLER...
I remember watching this on the night it was broadcast in England and thinking the bass player was amazing. His name is Frank Blair and played on Marvins last Motown album, In Our Lifetime.
Robert palmer you were a beautiful soul and your singing reflected that!! we miss you sO much! there is big talent missing in this world now!! you nailed these 2 songs! absolutely! everytime I hear them I feel good inside!! I know your light will shine forever more! wherever you are!! we were sO lucky to have had you in our lives! Im sO grateful for that! and sO many others Im sure!! god bless you! We miss you!! :-)
Robert Palmer a very handsome man with so elegance. We don't find it now. Mr Palmer you miss us. Happy to have your clips to listen yours beautiful songs. Thank for all that especially you sing with so class. Your songs are eternal. ❤💚💙😍
Ok, you've made me cry. Missing the voice of Marvin Gaye is one thing, but this rendtion by Robert is painful as well as one of the best as he sweats "I want you' which will always be one of my favorites. Great to remember outstanding talent.

If any one is interested, the brilliant bass player here, who played the bass on the original ‘I Want You’ by Marvin, is Frank Blair.

I worry about my wife meeting him in heaven, she makes my day was our song. She was the most intelligent, gorgeous lass and yes she fancied him. But i trust each to hold loved ones dear. If i ever get there, she will have arranged our song sung by this gentleman.
Tu es un kador, une épée un seigneur, rassure toi
I am pretty sure your beloved wife, will wait for you
She makes my day is a classic song.

Even the lights are better than the LED things of today.
PERFECT 🤩 ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏼
The cool thing is how he easily transitioned from "Mercy, Mercy Me" 2 "I Want You" and back again seamlessly. A great interpretation of Marvin's 2 big hits
Doesn't get any sweeter than Marvin or smoother than Palmer.
These must be the sexiest songs ever written and Palmer the sexiest man to sing them. He was such a gentleman, pure class❤👏
Perfectly said. I’ve been obsessed by this medley since I heard it. He was a force of nature ❤
I have watched lots of interviews with Robert Palmer and he's extremely interesting with an encyclopedic knowledge of music! I appreciated his ironic humor and his shyness was beguiling. Yes he was a deep thoughtful soul and very misunderstood
How was he misunderstood?
It's almost like being misunderstood is some kind of badge of honor. Robert Palmer did great covers of great songs by great songwriters. No misunderstanding there. Just blue-eyed soul, pop and rock & roll.

Can just say badass
I love this mix. Gaye is so worth paying tribute to, and Robert does it well in his own way.

Frank Blair is the bassist and featured on the line from the Apollo album
John Voss Thank you John. What a player Frank is, and also a great frontman and performer. Cheers.
Am late but I thought I'd add the Mr Blair played with Marvin. He was slaying it on this one!

I lack the ability to put into words what I feel when I listen to this song. Happiness. Yeah, that comes close. A little.
Carisma Talent wow ! What a performer, and a fellow Yorkshireman. That was awesome. He was a great loss far too young.
Craig Farquharson Hi Craig, nice to meet someone with the same surname. Great Performance

Both are great in different ways. I sure love Robert Palmer’s version. Or maybe I just love Robert Palmer.🥰
How good have you goota be to cover Marvin,,,,top stuff been listening for 30 years...
I always loved Robert with this version. He was simply irresistible.
What a voice. Such a talented man. I know it’s been about 15 years (or more?!) but still gutted he’s not with us any more.
Loved that man. Still do. He kills this song! RIp
I’m sure Marvin Gaye smiles when he experiences what Robert did with his songs here❤
Astounding how he rocks a suit and tie in what must be 100 degrees of stage & light heat. Who does that? I miss the era and I miss him.
😭 ahhh Robert Palmer. Wish he was still here - put his all into it. Hard to find good footage
Miss him still😢
