Hi Chris, good to see you putting these videos out. Some friendly feedback, it would be great to hear a few more comments about the specific details for example, what the existing footing type is compared to why you chose 'trench fill'. I did wonder if building control needed to know the thickness of the existing foundation which i dont think was mentioned. Great videos, keep them coming!
Great video Chris. Question about the yellow gas main running parallel with the strip foundation. Do you just encase it in concrete? I'm thinking of future issues or maintenance later on?
I think I read somewhere that the rebar should not be resting on the ground due to possible contamination, rust etc and that it should be raised up with some form of spacers. Not sure if am right though. Any ideas? Loving ya videos.
Chris, you mention under pinning, I would like to extend up on top of my garage. If the foundation isn't there will under pinning be needed or pulling down the garage and starting from scratch be needed?
As a none builder I thought I had read some where that the new foundations had to come up to the top of the existing foundations? Is this not the case? I'm planning an extension of my house, and the top of the existing foundation is low down (similar to what you have there) (floating timber floors in house 1960's) this will save me some cash if I don't have to dig down as much as I thought. Would appreciate your views.
@@foundationgood123 Great Video Chris. For the gas service pipe, did you simply dig to see where it was then ask the Gas company to cap it off and re-route so it won't be built over?
How the hell do you manage to get jobs where you can get the concrete wagon right up to the foundation! Every one of my jobs seems to involve miles of barrowing. 😣
Brilliant job there Chris. Great work 👍 enjoyed the rebar was interesting 👍💪look forward to this series 👌👍💪
Glad you enjoyed it
I know nothing about building work but find watching you is mesmerising the amount of preparation is incredible
Routine stuff to be honest, most of the cost and work goes into the ground!
Look forward to the next video-:)
Thanks👍
Nice job with full satisfaction 👌👌👌
Thanks a lot 😊

I chose trench fill, saved me loads of back ache and isn't much difference price wise
Love your professionalism
Thank you👍
Your videos are getting better
invested in a camera and my Grandson coaching me LOL
Very thorough Chris. All the best on this one 👍👍

Possibly need to put lintels over it and carry on building

Nice solid foundation that 💪🏽 . A nice rare front extension too gonna save a lot of humping gear round that 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
Yes thanks, just need a labourer🤞
Chris Longhurst 🧱👍🏼
Awesome
Thanks👍

You will need a fnd in my opinion underpinning is very costly I prefer to knock down if it's not a massive wall and do a proper FND
No shortcuts here, proper job!!
Thanks bud👍
great video, for jobs like this and small extensions, do you work with full building reg plans or building notice?
Both!
I wouldn't have thought that wrapping copper wire round the bars would be strong enough, but then I'm no builder.
Its to keep the bars together until concrete is poured over them
Top job. Are you John bishops dad you sound and look like him
no, seemingly "Moyals"🤣

I chose to trench fill the fnd but you can go the the existing concrete fnd level
Dont worry about where the garage door was. What you're doing won't make any difference to that
What's the name of the tool you used to find the underground water and electrical lines?
Cat scanner-can hire them from tp
Woah you do some big boy jobs. Not just bricklaying.
Yep, "Builder"
Building inspector let you build over that gas pe main?! 😬
I'ts being moved to the outside wall meep and already has a spur on (see the planks are covering it)

Hi Chris what's the depth for foundation as in level1 an started level2 but dont have no ideas help me plz
And widths plz
@@zakirhayatzaki Hiya, depth on this foundation was a 1mt to the top of the concrete of the original FND...width was 450mm

Not always, I've done my share of tipping it up on Visqueen and barrowing it as fast as you can😭
Always price for a pump . Worth every penny . Days of barrowing concrete are over . ☺
Strip will continue under where garage door was for strength of footing and ease of digging
🤞
