    Probably the best jersey retirement ceremony ever. Genuine and down right heartfelt. Spurs will always be the classiest organization in the history of the NBA. Hands down..... big shoes to fill.

    As a Lakers Fan I have to say that Manu was my most hated player... You know how everyone has a player they dislike because they beat their team and not because of their personality.... Manu was that guy for me. I respected his game more than Timmy(and that's saying something) because when watching those games it felt like Manu was the heart and Soul. Pop was the Brain, Timmy was the Spine-Back-Shoulders, Bowen was the Guts, Tony was the Legs and the bench was the Arms & Joints...
    Thank you Manu for playing the way you did, even against my Lakers..... You'll favourite be My Most Hated Player(That I secretly love)...

    As a Rockets fan, I am supposed to hate the Spurs. I am supposed to hate the Big 3 from the rival team in my state. I’m supposed to hate Manu Ginoblili.
    But how the Hell do you hate Manu? The man was as talented as they got. He would have been the star on any team in the league. But he knew what he had in San Antonio. He knew that the situation there lead to greatness as long as he played his part.
    When his part meant that he was the best player in the league to come off the bench, he provided that spark.
    As a Rockets fan, I’m supposed to hate Manu Ginobili. But he deserves this honor and so much more. It was an absolute privilege to watch this man play.

Tough, grinder, clutch, non conventional..he brought 4 championships to San Antonio. He beat the USA in the olympics! Won a gold medal! Without question he could have had outrageous stats if he’d continued to be a starter. Sacrifice! For the team, he was ALWAYS there in crunch time. He finally Euro Stepped to the hall of fame, I remember the Manu Ginobli David Blaine Commercials showing his trick shots, he was like drazen detlovic, is the best 6th man, played his role innovated the game created wicked passes, his trick shots, hes amazing. Im not a spurs fan but Manu was always in my top5 two way guards for his style, the Euro is like the Shamm godd how influential it is.

    No player's jersey # retirement is ever a lock. I mean, OKC won't even consider retiring KD's unless he goes back. The Lakers likely won't retire LeBron's number just cause he played there. He would have to make some noise, which would be hard considering he's entering the twilight years of his career. Hell, Minnesota still hasn't retired KG's number, even though he played there for 13 1/2 seasons and gave them his all!

    • @chrismathgenius
      @chrismathgenius 5 років тому

      To be fair, KG won't retire his number unless Glen Taylor sells the team.

    • @darrengordon-hill
      @darrengordon-hill 5 років тому +2

      OKC hella petty if that's true; he's THE reason they're relevant. You CANNOT tell the story of the Thunder (or the NBA) without him.
      Miami will likely be forced into retiring "6" (Bosh stayed but 4 years is hardly banner worthy (despite MVPs)) but I doubt they're overly eager to... but OKC *is* KD (& Russ and yes, Nick Collison).

    Duncan not giving enough credit in the beginning to the player who knocked him and USA out in 2004 just after he beat USA as well in 2002 😅 Ginobili was always great even when they drafted him its just that in the NBA Europeans r always underrated which is why coach Pop always got hall of famers with low picks such Parker and Manu

    Has there ever been a more moving, more celebrated retirement tribute in sports? Has there ever been a more loved and respected teammate? Dozens, maybe hundreds of former teammates and coaches showed up to celebrate Manu - the head coach of a team in playoff contention flew across the country to be there! And listen to the incredible breadth and care in his speech.
