Manu Ginobili was one of the best hustlers in basketball history next to Dennis Rodman. Playground basketball players know what I mean. But he was all over the damn place chasing down balls & defenders. His energy was off the charts.
Big time... he was by far the best player on the court and he was the only reason they destroyed that Pistons defense that seemed unbeatable... Manu was that unpredictable guy that was just unguardable cause no defense could read him...
Razor58 if you watched the video, Shannon said Manu wasn’t the best Spur for a season or series. Manu was the best player for that 2005 season. I guarantee you, if you ask any of those Detroit players they would tell you he was the best player for the Spurs. Manu would have been Harden if he had control of a team and Harden would have been Manu if he was still coming off the bench like he did in OKC.
I would have been okay with Manu winning co-MVP with Duncan. Tim had to deal with a three-headed monster in the paint named Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, and Antonio McDyess, and Duncan's help down low was Robert Horry and Nazr Mohammed. I don't see how the Spurs win that series without either Manu OR Tim.
I agree, 100%. As a guy who watched every minute of that series (I was a Pistons fan), even I said RIGHT AFTER, that Manu should have won MVP. No doubt.
I usually agree more with Shannon than Skip, and during those Spurs runs I usually rooted for the other teams, but man, Manu was an absolute Beast!!! I like how Skip gave him his due props but Shannon has no arguments for not recognising the accomplishments of a Legend on his retirement ceremony... Wow, Manu, we miss watching you, you're an inspiration! The comparisons to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are legit.
Ginobili is one of the all time greats. He's a big reason the Spurs were so dominant. He had a huge impact on the playing styles of every player in the NBA, especially Wade who adopted Manu's euro step better than any other player. His tenancity on defense and offense is to be respected - a true champion.
God damn, Shannon is a hater this episode. Ginobili BLED excellence, this is coming from a Steve Nash era Suns fan. So much respect for Manu, we will miss you.

GinobiliiiiI!! I never was a Spurs fan until he joined the Team. In my TOP 3 of all-time Favorite NBA Players. Loved the way he approached and played the game! Thank you Manu!
Unc being disrespectful today. Ginobili definitely was a amazing player, and tough defender and made some clutch shots in big time moments regular season and post season.
He's not American, bothered with swag or stat padding so doesn't get the universal adulation from the casual hypebeast fans. That Olympics win was legendary.
As a die hard laker and Kobe fan when we played the spurs repeatedly in the playoff the player on that team who scared me the most was manu n for a period of time I also think he was the best overall player on their team he could score rebound a GREAT passer and could defend and draw charges and they gave him the ball to close so it’s not far fetched to say he was the best player
I had never ever seen a boring performance of Manu Ginobili. Even in a bad day he would do something special for the team. His impact on the game was unmeasurable. No Stats needed to talk about Manu Ginobili.
He beat the so called dream team and took the gold came in and took the championship and was a dream to work with and beloved by his coach for all the right reasons. The guy is a shining example for any athlete in history.
Im from Argentina, i lived in Argentina my entire life, i followed Manu's carreer, Europe, NBA, Olimpic Team. Saying that he is in a pedestal in Argentina just or mostly because he won a gold medal is not only not knowing the Argentinian people, is being ignorant and disrespectfull. Manu is on a pedestal in Argentina for what he is, what he represents, what he has shown us he can do and how proud he make us feel. Most of that is reflected in the words of his partners and opponents in the NBA. What was reminded the oder night. Im sorry, i dont care if he is not his favourite player, but that does not give him the right to disrespect an entire country. His arguments, his words are just disrespectfull and sad.
Sometimes Shannon kills me with his basketball analysis. He reminds me of that kid at the lunch table that knows every statistic but doesn't know anything because he doesn't appreciate the killer instinct in the basketball world. I'm glad Skip called him naive.
Frankie Eteuati i agree nowadays its hard to argue about basketball and who the better player because people are just watching highlights and looking at the box score

So tim dincan was all about highlights? How can you say manu was beter tham tim? Becouse in my opinion tim duncan is top 5 all time ahead of kobe and shaq and even if he is not everybody agrees he is top 10.
Yes he is the best player from argentina ever, he is a great person, really good nba player, san antonio probably wouldn't have won so many championships without him... doesn't make him a top 10 player, or top 30 maybe he is top 50 but probably he is between 50 and 60. He played 25 minutes per game, 30 in his best years, started 74/74 games once and avereged 16/3,4/4,4 then started 79/80 games played and avereged 17/5/4. Manu was by far the best player on the court in those finals... he was the Finals MVP and it shows you how selfless he is because he was robbed of it and still didn't care...
I'll never forget game 7 of the finals against the Pistons who beat the Shaq/Kobe Lakers 4-1 the year before. It was that time in the 4th quarter when buckets were hard to get. Ginobili had the ball outside the three point line. He sliced through the Pistons defense and two hand dunked it. Changed the momentum of the game. It doesn't get more clutch than that.

I know exactly what Skip is talking about. Shannon I think has an idea of what Skip is talking about with Manu, but he’s having too much fun raining on Skip’s parade. Manu was a basketball genius. He was as humble and selfless a player as there has ever been in the NBA. He was as clutch as anyone who’s ever lived, even tho he missed those free throws in game 6 2013 finals. He was maybe the best teammate ever, even tho he got fed up with Kawhi last year and kinda threw him under the bus. I love Manu. He gets that same kind of reverence and love that Kobe gets cause what he meant to his teams and franchise and fan base goes so far beyond numbers. It’s about the memories and experiences. It’s about the moments when he made your jaw drop with a big shot or a brilliant pass/move or even his occasional POSTER DUNK which he did even in the last two finals runs for San Antonio. Manu Ginobili was one of the best hustlers in basketball history next to Dennis Rodman. Playground basketball players know what I mean. But he was all over the damn place chasing down balls & defenders. His energy was off the charts.
4 NBA championships in 16 years in the league, the man is a Legend.
Gold medal for Argentina. May be his biggest accomplishment.
A legend in Argentina for sure.
Ginobli was robbed the 05' NBA Finals MVP !!
Big time... he was by far the best player on the court and he was the only reason they destroyed that Pistons defense that seemed unbeatable... Manu was that unpredictable guy that was just unguardable cause no defense could read him...
God bless you, I thought nobody remember it anymore.
Arnaldo Andres absolutamente!
If you look at Manu's stats in the 4 Finals Games the Spurs won, he was no doubt the MVP of that Finals.
Cameron Ching that was the least watched finals in nba history! Ratings were horrible people probably forgot because most didn’t watch it lol 😂🤷🏾♂️
2005 Manu Ginobili should have been finals MVP! Manu was the best player for the Spurs for that series, HANDS DOWN!
I stand on that... I have told any and every bball lover that Tony n Timmy D dont have 4 chips without Manu
Michael Spragan and Manu don’t without them what’s ur point

Got to respect Ginobili. He is a great player who played well for a hard to play for coach
This is America. We don't care. Keep that crying bs in your own country

The year when spurs beat pistons to win the championship, in my opinion manu should be the finals MVP, not duncan.

I'll never forget game 7 of the finals against the Pistons who beat the Shaq/Kobe Lakers 4-1 the year before. It was that time in the 4th quarter when buckets were hard to get.
