Did you know that I have had 3 SMALLPOX VACCINE SHOTS in my lifetime. First in 1970 when I was going to COLOMBIA with my FAMILY! The second time was with the US NAVY in 1986 in San Diego BOOT CAMP. BOOT CAMP was a TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE....I FEEL like I was being REBORN!! YOUNG LADY, DO YOU WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE REBORN IN SAN DIEGO!? AND THE FINAL 3RD TIME WAS IN PORT HUENEME IN 2006. That's because I got recalled to ACTIVE DUTY and it was feared that my unit and might end up in IRAQ and Iraqi insurgents might still have access to chemical and biological weapons. But IN the end I got pulled out of my unit and sent all by my lonesome to a remote outpost in AFRICA, (DJIBOUTI to be exact), called CAMP LEMIONER. I was there for 6 months and YOUNG LADY, I BET YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HOT IT GETS THERE!!!!

It is not just "two kinds of people". The third type of person who, does not necessarily refuse the vaccine- but is hesitant, is people who think that the vaccine was tremendously rushed compared to other vaccines, which generally take years to have the long term affects studied. We know nothing of the long term affects of this vaccine. By this logic it is understandable that people are hesitant to give this to their family and children

      Sorry I know I'm a year late.
It's sad how many people say that celebrities sign away their privacy once they become famous. That if they don't want everyone knowing every aspect of their life, they shouldn't become famous.
They say that when celebrities get upset about their lack of privacy, and upset when people touch them, that they need to humble themselves because without their fans, they wouldn't be where they are today."
Or how about, we wouldn't have all the amazing art and entertainment we have that they work so hard and long to give us without thanks. Instead of being thankful people think that they own them and that celebrities are obligated to give us what we want the second they become famous and it's disgusting. It's disgusting that they're treated like they're less than human just because they're famous. Those people say that they want all that attention they knew what they were signing up for and that's why they became famous.
As if loving theater, music, making people happy, art, getting excited when people love their different arts of entertainment, ect. has nothing to do with it 🙄
They give us so much and just because they are loved for it and make bank, they're our puppets.
Umm no, they're still human and being famous doesn't cancel out their human rights. It's gross and abusive to treat celebrities like they're our toys. Only meant for our entertainment. Maybe they should go on strike until people can see them as human again.

Another group is similar: those who have had previous vaccine reactions. Kind of like how you waited for the right time to vaccinate your kids. Some need more time or info before they are willing to take it.

However, the last vaccine that was rushed through was a vaccine for expectant mothers who were suffering from nausea. Actually there is one more (or at least a part of the group I fall under) and that is 'wait and see'. These vaccines were almost 'rushed through' or at least developed and tested at incredible speed and no-one quite knows the true 'efficacy' of how well they work. In this country (England), the PM has 'decided' that instead of following the advice from the developers (Pfizer) of the vaccine and have the second jab 21 days later, they are waiting up to 12 weeks, now of course there is 'wrangling' over the doses in Europe (the fact that they haven't got any), thus the 2nd dose is looking even less likely and all the while the 'efficacy' of the first does of the 'Home-grown Oxford jab (the one favoured by our government), is looking even less 'dodgy'. No, I will shield and 'wait and see' before I become some kind of 'human Guinea Pig'!
Just to clarify the Oxford 2nd dose can be given up to 12 weeks though say 6 should be absolute maximum and of course you can't specify which jab you have, so you may be given the first shot of Pfizer and the second 12 weeks later of the Oxford, which would negate and probably totally erradicate any efficacy at all. No, I am defiantly a 'wait and seer'!

I have self quarantine myself sense February . I am a 57 year old retired educator and a man. I only go to the market for groceries and Home Depo for my house projects. I wear a p 95 respirator and carry wipes in a ziplock bag. I haven’t had a flu vaccine sense 1984 the last year I was in the military. The VA always encourages me to get it but I don’t. I was in the class room for 21 years with all the little nose miners and never got the flu. Wash your hands often, bathe before you go to bed, change your sheets once a week, and do your laundry. One of our colleagues, who is a pediatrician, on a recent video meeting shared their shortcut regarding recommendations for weekly laundry, and laundering cloth masks, that our crew wears over another mask:
If it's not possible to launder our bedsheets, and our cotton or competitive swimmer suit material, as frequently, as for many of us, and truly what we have found to be humanly possible...their recommendation:
Just switch out your pillow cases weekly, and try to hand wash your second face mask as often as possible, and if possible, have additional masks, that you can use in rotation, again, we have found that when we return to our places of residences after being outside, that we take our mask off and, we build in hand washing that mask into our essential hand washing as soon as we are back home, from being outdoors process! Regarding our bedding, and especially since many of us are: mouth breathers, snorers, grinders and tossing and turning, restless and sometimes restful sleepers! We have found this 'best practice' to be so helpful!

That's my issue too. Standard medical/vaccine knowledge shows that new vaccines can take up to 3 years to produce and test for safety and efficiency. When COVID began, most medical professionals hedged that a vaccine could be ready in about 18 months, based on the fact that almost every vaccine research facility in the world has their best minds on the job. We know humans can do amazing things especially when we work together with a single-minded focus. But putting a vaccine out for public use in less than a year makes me worry that needed safety testing will not be done, or that some corners will be cut in terms of safety.

I like your philosophy about a lot of things, but the biggest thing I like is something I tell my students all the time, "You have to find what works for you." I try to convince them, in part, that means they have to do the hard work and research themselves. Not just take someone else's word for it. I like that you give the resources that you have found so that I can read those and any others that I have found to come to my own conclusions. I often tell my my students "What works for me may not work for you. We are different people." Vaccines are not that complicated, they’ll have had underlining health issues because most of them are completely irrelevant to what vaccines do and if you consider how many people get Sick / die each day, and how many people got it in a short space of time, obvz there will be a huge overlap of health issues. As someone who spent a year fighting doctors believing my health issues were sparked by taking antibiotics, I realise now it wasn’t and I manifested pain from health anxiety and other things.

Her rational is totally flawed and not a skeptical way to think.
Her position is essentially "I dont really know enuff about what the liquid in this beaker is. So Its better that I drink the liquid than to not drink it".
Thats essentially her position with the vaccine. "I dont really know enuff about the virus to NOT take this vaccine".

It is a literal fact that there are tons of chemicals in vaccines. How does pointing that out make you anti-vaxxer? There are also tons of chemicals in fast food (which i still eat, so I don't think I'm anti-fast-food) tons of chemicals in makeup (which i love to wear. I'm deeply PRO-makep), chemicals in cleaning sprays (which i use), etc.
You get the picture. The question is this: when you do your risk benefit analysis, do you decide that the chemicals are so inherently bad that the risks automatically outweigh the benefits? Or do you belive that there are times when the chemicals are acceptable for the benefit you get from the product?
The problem is that many pro-vaxxers (especially lay people) pretty much don't know that a vaccine has anything other than saline and weakened/killed pathogen, or if they do know their are chemicals, they refuse to acknowledge that they really are capable of causing any harm at all (usually due to "small enough doses"). And those who are either neutral/case-by-case about vaccines, or those who are PRO-vaccine but still realize that the chemicals aren't good for you and are an unfortunate downside that must be accepted to receive vaccine benefits, are often accused of being "anti-vaccine" because they don't hold to the mantra that a reaction is "one in a million" or the unproven statement that aluminum in vaccines in in "too small of doses to cause any harm" etc.

Thanks, Mayim. As a minister of religion who is also a huge science fan, I appreciate your wisdom and insights. As a Canadian, I've had all the vaccines mandated under law. As minister visiting parishioners in nursing homes, I'm required to have an annual Flu shot. For me, it's a question of helping to protect others, just like wearing a mask. If I can keep myself from getting sick with the help of vaccines, I can help others stay healthy as well.
I'm also speaking from personal experience in terms of bad reactions. When I was young, a trip to Italy meant getting a Smallpox vaccine. Sure enough, on one occasion, I got sick. Fever and exhaustion for two or three days. Despite that one misadventure, I still get vaccinated as part of my civic duty.
All this to say I appreciate your open-mindedness and science based approach. I realize we don't know everything about our health, but there is enough scientific research behind vaccines to make them a vital part of taking care of our bodies. I bothers me that often medicine is driven by profit rather than a true desire to simply help people, but with intelligent advocates like you speaking out, that may one day change.
I appreciate you very much, and thanks for sharing your wisdom and love of science.

My concern is how quickly it’s being rushed out. How the producers will have no liability. This is an RNA vaccine which is the first of its kind. This combination is kind of frightening. I do not want to take a new vaccine without knowing the long term side affects. As those producing the vaccine don’t have liability what happens if it goes wrong? With existing vaccines there’s plenty of claims made for injury and death. Will a vaccine be viable for a virus that could and probably will mutate like the flu (which kills on average 20,000 people each year in the UK and that’s with a vaccine)
With a vaccine passport being talked about, the prospect of my daily life requiring a test to check my immunity status before I’m allowed to work, shop and go to school is a big concern.

Genuine question: I’m NOT an anti-vaxxer… I’ve been vaccinated (not for the vid but for everything else), my kids (they’re adults now) have been as well… however… what about people who are simply concerned about the lack of testing and the potential future negative impacts as a result of the rush to get the vaccine out? I think that’s completely justified? And I think we need to give good, accurate information and then allow people to do what they believe is right! What am I missing!? I’m genuinely asking and open to learning! ♥️

    • @robinschwartz6977
      @robinschwartz6977 2 роки тому +1

It’s a valid question and one I truly considered myself before deciding to get the vaccine last spring. I’m a substitute teacher and because I was so terrified of going back into the classroom I opted to be vaccinated, long before being mandated to do so. I thought it might take away my fears, but it really hasn’t. After researching all of my concerns through the various sources available, I reluctantly decided to go ahead. I have been in the classroom this year, but the new variants and increase in cases still greatly concerns me.
As far as the controversy regarding Mayim, I believe that she has the right to make her own decisions. I respect the fact that she has always done what she believed to be the right thing and not followed the dictates of everyone else. This is not the only issue that’s come up in her life which has been on display since she was a child. Every person has to decide for themselves. I’m the only one in my immediate family that has been vaccinated. Everyone else has made their own decisions not to do so. I have not harassed them about it, even though they make comments about me doing so. It’s not only their constitutional right, but their God-given freedom of choice to not be vaccinated if they choose not to do so.
That being said, I am against children being vaccinated because of the very fact that we have no real idea of the long term effects on kids and because they don’t seem to be as affected by any of the variants. We have many long term vaccines for other diseases and I have no problem with kids receiving those vaccines. But the covid ones didn’t go through the long term studies so we don’t really have all the information needed on how it will affect them and the kids just don’t seem to get it.
While we don’t know what will happen, each variant seems to get weaker and more widespread like a flu or cold would be. My hope is that it will dissipate in the future.
I do believe the vaccines have helped to significantly reduce the number of cases of the original virus. The numbers and charts show that, but delta increased the numbers again. I’m hoping for a day when the charts, numbers, hospitalizations and deaths are eliminated, though I’m not seeing it yet.
