I have an 07 Chevy Avalanche that I installed an AEM drop in air filter in the factory air box and installed an Airaid MIT intake tube in place of the factory tube and I feel like it gave me better throttle response. Any hp increase is probably not much but it gave better throttle response and the Airaid intake tube cleans up the engine bay a little.
nice vid man, i have an opel omega (cadillac catera in us) with 2.6 litre GM 54° V6 engine maybe i do the same mod, but i think it will have a lesser perfomance result. the car became louder? or just became better sounded?
Recently just got a Cadillac 2007 DTS and JUST TODAY put in this K&R air filter and this engine just came to LIFE !! I now all I have to do is to add an awesome performance exhaust and should easily increase the horsepower well over 300 from the original 275. With this K&R I’m pulling over 280 HP now baby !!! Oh, I would choose the chewy bars, shack chips and sunny d baby!!! 👌😄👍
I got an KN filter after doing some mild tuning to my engine and transmission . Sure it's making some 5-10hp more cuz i redline to 7000 rpm and that was only $50 for the filter
2010 Ford F-150 Platinum with all schedule maintenance. Passed on to son with 230K miles. Has worked flawless. Truck is at 340K. Zero issues. Scotty just playing is safe. Don't overall. Good luck...
I see you have a Maf sensor if you over oil the filter you will get it on the maf and performance and gas mileage will suffer. They work fine in engines with map sensors or raceing engins
And that's in them type of vehicles if you put a cane air filter like in an M3 or an S4 Audi you're going to gain about 1520 horsepower it depends on basically the vehicle you're using will be more and if you run Royal Purple in your car and you put it on a Dyno you're automatically going to gain 15 horsepower I want to believe it but the math doesn't lie keep your engine cooler and if your engine is cooler you have more horsepower it's a quicker start it's a synthetic oil the 5W-30 is the way to go put it in every one of my vehicles McCain and filters in all my vehicles and just definitely a difference
Can't say that this is a valid test, the OEM filter was used, the apparent difference in HP was an additional 8hp which would not have been enough to improve acceleration by 0.1 considering the weight of the rig. K&N filters may improve airflow at the very top end but are no better than OEM for normal range of use and much worse at filtering the damaging nasties out of the intake. K&N designed filters for high reving Motorsport cars that have frequent engine rebuilds, not domestic vehicles that need to be reliable for hundreds of thousands of miles
The change in MPG would be slim to none since 95% of fuel economy comes from your driving habits. If you were to drive the EXACT same for both tests, a K&N would more than likely yield 1-2 mpg since more air = more efficiency. A CAI system will increase fuel economy (if you keep your foot out of it) due to there being far less restriction as well as more air coming in through a larger filter.
@JohnBoulding i see comments from people saying theyve been running these filters for 10 or 15 years with no issues. if they were so bad i dont think theyd still be in business
@@cantwealljustgetalong2 It's called anecdotal evidence. The outliers don't negate the overall average. If these filters were so great they would come as OEM equipment.
Finally dude someone who actually gets tangible data

Another great video! Thanks for doing the video.
Hey thank you for watching!

i think yours has the same engine as my 2015 impala v6, im gonna get a k&n filter for it today
Now to get the throttle position closer to 100% instead of 91.8% your torque management is partially closing throttle prematurely.
Yup, and timing so so dang conservative. A lot is left on the table with these 6.2s that’s for sure!
Not bad for a big girl full of groceries. Awesome video brother. 👏 👏 👏
Thanks for watching the vid! First comment too

nice but you forgot to clean out the filter housing
did you disconnect the battery prior to putting in the filter to tune the ecu

I actually lost mpg with mine but gained performance. I got a 2023 charger rt
Is there a mpg change?
Typically there wouldnt be any changes
is it NA engine? cuz I guess K&N filter works better in NA engine. correct?
This is NA yes. But I think a turbo application would work better
Any change in mpg?

Its also letting lots more dirt particle in.
100 % correct . Filtration of 75% for the best cotton filters against 99.5% for OEM paper .
Manufactures use paper filters for a reason.
very negligible amount. regular oil changes corrects that
@@cantwealljustgetalong2 by the time you have changed the oil, those suspended particles have already done the damage

No difference what so ever ,
