Good review. I agree with what you concluded. There are samples of this surface with a mid base and I was told it is so fast it is almost unusable unless you have godlike control. Dornfinger is considering releasing a mid-version eventually.

As someone who usually prefers mid base pads, I was also surprised how much I like the Firestarter and how well I can play with it - especially in CS and Valo. I think the rebound of the Alpha-Cell base helps me a lot here. Since I have been using the Lasercut version since mid January and have tested it intensively with various mouse-skate combinations, I can say that I have had no problems with durability so far. Even the edges still look like they did on day one.

Interesting pad kinda plain lol I’m out of the plain pad faze I need some color and design 😂
Yeah, I think designs are going to be important moving forward. Not enough interest for a black pad with a logo.
Still a great pad though!
If a surface sells well, Dornfinger usually will release a special edition with a design at some point.
