This was the day before my 16th birthday. Absolutely amazing music and Dan Ingram totally on top of his game! And what a treat to hear a commercial about my favorite car - the 1968 GTO - Motor Trend’s car of the year! And in the backdrop, not even a week after the horrific assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
I loved listening to WABC Radio 77 with all its great deejays. Dan Ingram, Cousin Brucie, Harry Harrison, Ron Lundy, to name a few were my music heroes in the 60's and '70's. The promos and music bring back memories of a time when music was great and fun to listen to. The deejays made it a great time. RIP Dan. Your legacy will go on forever like those you worked with.
T. Grant me too Grant. Their will never be talent like that again that had fun on the radio. Do remember the strike and Wabc ran promos on who people could see outside there building. I grew up in Levittown.
I know the pitch is lower than normal, but even so, Dan sounds pretty mellow on this aircheck. This was shortly after the assassination of Martin Luther King, and I'm sure the nation was still hurting a week later

He could make a toilet paper commercial entertaining. There hasn't been talent like that in 4 decades.
Big Dan, Ron, Harry, Cousin Brucie, and Lucky Chuck - the best ever!! And Dan's humor - inimitable! 77 - MUSIC - WABC!
They were one of a kind.
Jay Reynolds was great too ! :-)
Need more and best quality. Love playing them 1967-68-69
Dan was the best; I grew up listening to WABC all through the 60’s and 70’s.
The Tet Offensive was running amok in Vietnam by then...it was constantly in the news but it seems no one paid any attention...
RIP Big Dan
RIP Big Danny. I was 12 yoa, he was great, I listened to WABC daily.
I would have been 11 when this was broadcast. Loved Dan and Cousin Brucie and all the rest of them.
Until we hear you again, don’t RIP, tear heaven up and have a fantastic time with all your friends. Miss ya pal, miss ya big time.
Big Dan Ingram Was the best.
Need mire months in 67-68. Best memories
April 10 1968 Was a Wednesday.
Goodbye Kemosabe! You were the best!

Dan had a chance to "joke" after/during that first commercial. Not so fast Danny boy that would likely get you fired!
Too bad you had to cut out the actual music.
I used to leave all the music in until the record industry started cracking down.
